<Daere Warren, Inside the Lusty Duchess>
<Day 67>
<Late Morning>

Alex walked into the tavern and was greeted with the pungent fragrance
of stale beer mixed liberally with sour wine. He wrinkled his nose at
the unpleasant combination as he looked around for his Uncle. He
spotted him quickly and walked over to his table. As he did he noticed
several things right away. First was that the majority of patrons were
watching him closely.

A few looked at him excitedly, perhaps they thought he was part of the
King's retinue sent to help them return home, while others he figured
thought him a wealthy patron for their schemes or shops. Others eyed
the armored knight with doubt and even fear. These men Alex figured
for naives, deserters, criminals, and miscreants; he watched them
carefully. The next thing he noticed was that his Uncle kept little
company.

Two unfamiliar men both seated to his left were his only companions.
That aside from several guards that stood in various positions behind
the rightful Lord of Triylar. And in the shadows, Alex knew there
lurked at least one or two men of ill repute. Unpleasant, cowardly
types, but unfortunately necessary weapons in the wars of nobility.
The final thing Alex took note of was his Uncle's scowl.

A black thunderhead as dark as any Alex had seen in the heavens loomed
over his Lord's personage. And this storm was being bolstered by
drink; a bad combination in anyone, but in Lord Gossimor's case it was
apocalyptic. Alex knew his Uncle's temper and his dark moods from his
days he served in the Triylarian court, and he reminded himself to be
on his absolute best behavior.

"Ah, Sir Dragon approaches," Lord Gossimor said with a sneer. He took
a long drink from his goblet, and then set it down heavily on the
table. At once, the man seated next to him refilled the cup, but it
was left where it was set.

Alex approached, bowed his head and knelt before his Uncle.

"My Lord, I came from Killhree as soon as I got word. I wish to pledge
my sword to your will to your cause and to aid you in what way I can
in the liberation of Triylar, and the return of you, my Lord, to your
rightful station," Alex said.

Lord Gossimor glared at the armored knight before him. He took up his
cup and once more drank heavily from it. He set it down, and it was
again filled quickly.

"In what way you can?" Lord Gossimor mocked.

"Yes, my Lord," Alex replied.

"Who do you serve?" Lord Gossimor questioned.

"My Lord?" Alex said.

"You heard me, Sir Dragon." He paused to take a quick sip then
continued, "You come here pledging your sword to my cause and my will,
but who do you really serve, Sir Dragon?"

Alex looked up at his Uncle, "My Lord, I serve you. As I pledged on my
honor."

Lord Gossimor laughed, a sad wretched laugh, "Honor, indeed. As if
anyone in all of the lands remembers the meaning of that word -
honor." He emptied his glass again, and before it could be refilled he
said, "Enough drink." The cup was left empty, and Lord Gossimor turned
his attention back to Alex.

"Is it not true that you have also sworn service to the Warren Lady?"
the scowling man questioned.

"Yes, my Lord," Alex replied quietly.

"How can this be?" the Lord of Triylar asked with a wave of his hands.
"With one breath you swear your sword and your life to me, and yet
with another you pledge yourself to the Dragon Witch. How is this
possible?"

The knight did not reply, and Lord Gossimor glared at him, "A man can
have only one master, Sir Dragon," he snarled. "So I ask you again.
Who do you serve?"

Alex held his temper in check but replied sternly, "In all maters
Landborn, I serve you, my Lord. In all maters Warren, I serve the
Warren Lady Duchess Theadora Trueheart. And through both, I nobly
serve the people of Triylar."

"Hmmph!" Lord Gossimor snorted, and he grabbed up his empty goblet. He
snarled at his attendant to his left, "Why is this empty?"

The man quickly apologized and filled the glass, which was promptly
drained and returned to be filled.

The Lord of Triylar returned his attention to Alex and said, "You
nobly serve...I doubt you understand what that means, Sir Dragon. I
doubt any dragon rider understands what that means. No, if you serve
the Warren Witch, then I have no use for you. A man cannot have two
masters, so return to the cave from which you crawled - we have no
need of your services."

Alex was shocked by his Uncle's words and more so by his dismissal.
The melancholy was deeper and darker than Alex had expected - a weight
around his Lord's neck threatened to drag him down into oblivion. The
young knight stood and bowed politely.

"As you wish, my Lord," he said. He turned around and left the tavern.

<Daere Warren, T'rell's Office>
<Day 67>
<Early Afternoon>

Alex knocked on the door as he entered, and T'rell looked up to see
who was entering his office.

"I'm sorry. Can I help you?" he asked as the armored man walked in.

Alex grinned and said; "I was told by the Warren Lady that I was to
re****t you."

T'rell's puzzled look deepened until Alex handed him the letter the
Duchess had given him. T'rell quickly read the letter.

"Oh...I'm sorry...I thought," T'rell stuttered, "With so many Landborn
around the Warren, I thought you were..." T'rell stopped himself as he
noticed the smirk on the other rider's face.
He returned the smile and greeted Alex. "Welcome back Alex. It's good
to have you in the Warren again. I didn't recognize you with your hair
cut so short."

"Short hair is the fa****on in Killhree," he replied.

"Oh. Well I'm glad to have you back, we need all the riders we can
get, especially with what's happening," he said while motioning Alex
to sit down.

<Day 67 Daere Warren, Outside of T'rell's Office Early Afternoon>

Alex walked out of the office into the afternoon sunlight. It was a
warm
spring day, but Alex's spirit was as dark as winter. He knew his Uncle
and
his moods, but what he just experienced was beyond understanding. He
had
been dismissed. He, Sir Alex Gossimor, nephew to the Lord of Triylar
had
been dismissed like a serving wench or a simple page.

"We have no need of your services." His Uncle's words echoed in his
mind and
stabbed at his heart. To be a Knight without a Lord was a pointless as
a
dragon without a rider. It just didn't make sense, he thought. But a
sudden
jolt brought Alex back to his senses as he collided with the petite
Lady
Lyin. The impact resulted in both of them falling to the soft turf.

With a clatter of armor Alex quickly righted himself. His
embarrassment was
obvious by his blu****ng face, and quickly offered to help Lyin up
while
offering a rapid apology.

"A thousand pardons, milady. I wasn't watching where I was going," he
said
as he helped Lyin to her feet.

"Are you all right?" he asked and tried to brush some grass from his
sundress. She pushed away his hand and straightened her own clothes.

"I'm fine," she replied and unconsciously moved a wayward lock of hair
from
in front of her face. She turned to leave, but Alex stepped in front
of her.

"Have you supped yet, milady?" he asked with a charming smile.

She frowned slightly at his boldness, but before she could catch
herself,
she replied, "No I haven't."

Alex's smile broadened. "Well then, as a token of forgiveness, allow
me the
honor to escort you to the finest kitchen in all the Warren," he said
while
he bowed and held out his hand.

Lyin studied the man for a moment before allowing the slightest of
nods. "I
suppose you could."

She didn't move to take his hand, but instead moved to walk beside
him.

It was obvious to Alex that she was not comfortable with his advances,
so he
quietly escorted her to lunch.

They walked a few moments in silence before Lyin glanced sidelong over
at
Alex. "So are supposed to be some kind of a knight or something?"

Alex nodded but his earlier thoughts were still swirling about in his
mind
and his face darkened for an instant before smoothing again.

"And you don't want to be," Lyin asked.

Alex looked to her. "It's a complicated situation, milady." He moved
to hold
the door to the dining hall so Lyin could enter. She did and then
glanced
over her shoulder at him.

"You can call me Lyin you know. I'm not any kind of lady like that."
She
smirked as an image of her in a court setting came to mind.

Alex smiled. "Lady Lyin, yes, that does have a nice ring to it." He
grinned
as Lyin rolled her eyes at him.

"So tell me about being a knight," she offered as they got into line
to get
food.

He smiled as he recited a poem.

"His untarnished armor, like his eyes,
Reflect the brilliance of blue skies.
A fighter of wrong and evil, always at his best,
A helper of humankind and ladies in distress.
He never forgets his place in life
  While searching for his quest.
To save a drowning damsel from her terrible fate,
he'd swim the treacherous moat, after jumping the castle gate.
His kind heart is filled with goodness, love, honor and charities.
He can always be trusted for he has many eternal verities.
He has enough unbridled valor to face the toughest plight,
And all the mighty courage to win the fiercest fight.
A brother to men, a lover of women,
A fighter for the just and right,
A gift to us, the right and just,
  The brave and loyal knight."

He finished his poem as they sat down together at a table with their
food.

"That Lady Lyin is what being a knight is to me, and that's all that
maters,
is it not," he said with a smile and wink.

Lyin just studied him for a moment. "Huh. I guess I just always
thought
Knights were more of a fa****on. Never met a man who actually believed
any
of that stuff." She took a few bites from her lunch and then looked
back to
him. "So shouldn't you be living off in a castle somewhere or
something?"

The utter bluntness of the woman's words soundly struck the young
knight's
senses. He wasn't sure what to make of her. The poem never failed
before, he
thought and he looked at Lyin while she quietly ate her lunch. After
several
seconds of silence, he thought, she's waiting for a retort, but
instead he
chose lunch.

Alex broke his bread and spoke a quick prayer as he did, "I give
thanks to
You, who brings bread from the earth." He then dipped a small bit into
the
pottage and ate. After a drink of flavorful but weak beer, he spoke.

"You have a good quality to you Lady Lyin in that you speak your mind,
and
you speak directly. I must say that I am not use to such.ah.refre****ng
conversation. Especially from a lady as comely as yourself." He took
another
sip of beer and smiled at her.

Lyin glanced up at him and then smiled back. "Many do not, and are not
used
to it. Gets me into trouble more often than not." She took a sip from
her
drink. "Too many men think a women is no more than something pretty to
look
at, and something to lord over, or to toss away when they have had
their
fun." Her words became bitter and she looked away. Thoughts of M'sollo
flooded her mind and she felt tears forming behind her eyes. She bit
her
tongue and pushed back her feelings of sorrow.

"But I am different," speaking more to herself than the Knight that
sat
across from her.

Alex felt the emotions behind Lyin's words, and he realized that there
was
something more going on.

"I'm sorry others have treated you so, Lyin, and I'm sorry to have
summoned
such hurtful remembrances," he said softly. Suddenly he wanted to take
her
hand, to tell her that he was different, nothing like the men she
described,
that he would make everything all right, but he refrained from doing
so.
Instead, he quickly finished his beer, stood, and excused himself.

"It was a pleasure dining with you, Lady Lyin. I look forward to doing
it
again in the future," he said with a slight nod. Alex then turned and
walked
out of the dinning hall.

Lyin watched him go in silence. Even after he was gone she stay
staring at
the door. She let a small smile tug at her lips and she went back to
fini****ng up her lunch. He was nice, sweet even. Lyin hoped she had
not
turned him off to being a friend. She needed them right now.

Within a few moments the young woman was walking back towards the
Warren Lady's office.

{What are you up to dearest?} Lyin called as she walked.

{Oh nothing interesting. Just sunning.} Mylinna replied.

{Do some investigative work for me?} Lyin asked.

{Ooh sure. About who?}

{This new rider, Alex I think his name is. Can you just talk with his
dragon and find out about him.}

{Sure} Mylinna replied happily. {Any reason to snuggle with a handsome
new
dragon and I'm all for it!}

Lyin laughed and headed into her office.

Miaren's Quarters

Miaren woke up and was startled to see her new surroundings. She then
smiled and rolled over on her back and remembered. She was on a
Star****p.
She was somewhere in space and she was now the CMO.

With that thought she blinked, and then giggled softly to herself.
She had
gotten a good nights rest, and she was wide awake and ready to begin
her
day, she first ****ft and begin her new life here.

Miaren rolled out of bed and rummaged through her boxes and found the
things
she needed to get ready for a fresh start. Yes, she thought as she
showered, that is what this is, a fresh start, a new day with no
mistakes in
it, well no mistakes yet. She enjoyed the hot water and the thick
luscious
towels and spent a little extra time readying her self. She unpacked
some
of her personal items and hung her clothes in their proper place.
Once she
was dressed and ready to go, she headed out and began to back-track
her
steps from last night. She was very pleased she found her way to
Medical
Center without having to ask a single person. Which was good, since
there
did not seem to be a lot of people walking around.

Miaren strolled into the Med Center and was greeted with warm smiles
and a
few surprised looks. She quickly asked how things went, and when they
explained the pass down was not for another hour; she smiled and asked
for
her personal one.

After she learned how all their patients fared through the night she
went
into the small office and flipped on the computer and noted the daily
schedule and that she had a staff meeting and where it was located.
She
went in search of the area where they would take their snacks and
breaks.
She made herself some tea and returned to her little office.

Miaren enjoyed her tea and looked through the files and made some
notations.
While she was perusing the medical charts and files she noticed that
it
had been well over a year since the last major physical exam had taken
place, and in some cases, over half the crew had not had one in 2-3
years.

Miaren flipped over to the standard rules and regulations of Starfleet
and
knew that almost everyone on board was in violation of the standards
set by
Starfleet. She knew this was a priority for her department, and she
began
cataloging all departments, ranks and names so she could print out a
list,
and make the announcement.

About the time Miaren was done with her first order of the day, she
heard
the morning ****ft arrive and she went out to greet them. They smiled
at her
and some remembered her from the luau. She welcomed them all, and
then once
they were ready to begin their ****ft, she started the pass down. Once
the
pass-down had been completed and the night ****ft made their way to
their
quarters or the lounge, Miaren spoke briefly with her staff.

She asked each of them questions and shared bits about herself as
well.
After the little impromptu meeting Miaren went through and doubled
checked
her patients from the night before. They were all still resting, and
she
decreased 2 of the men's dosage so that they could begin to wake up on
their
own.

When Miaren felt comfortable about leaving her staff she signed out
and let
them all know she was headed up to the staff meeting. Several waved
her off
with smiles and warm chuckles and Miaren began her way to the
Observation
Room for her very first staff meeting on her very first mission on her
very
first star****p.

"Wow." She thought to herself. "That is a lot of firsts." She
chuckled at
that happy thought and slowly with deliberateness made her way, on her
own
to the right room, and breathing a sigh of relief, early and in time
for the
meeting. She knew her weakness for long walks and taking her time,
and her
ability to get lost in the walk, and turn it into a small little
adventure.

Miaren found a place she would be comfortable and waited on the others
to
appear so that the meeting would get underway. She watched as the
room
slowly filled up, several coming in together, joking and laughing and
finding seats closer to each other. Each one took their turn to smile
and
introduce themselves.

The Captain arrived, and once the customary details were passed, he
quickly
went through the list of needed information. Miaren stopped for a
second
when she heard her name, until she realized he had just finished
telling
them about her requests for the physicals. She took notes on the area
they
were being sent to, for she wished to do a bit of research on the
place, to
have an idea of what be needed in case of an emergency.

[TAG- OPEN tag to all crew and personnel- Come and sign up for your
physical!]

[SNIP]

"Good, then other than that, I have a more personal note to add, and
then
we're done. Tonight, I wanted to invite everyone down to the lounge.
I'm
making chili."

"Oh" "uh" "um" were just a few samples of the responses by the more
vocal of
the officers.

[END SNIP]

"Chili?" Miaren thought. "He wants to make chili?" Miaren heard some
of
the chuckles, the teasing and jesting. She looked up and saw the
Captain's
face. He was obviously serious and he was not about to take no or a
half-hearted maybe for an answer.

[SNIP]

"Alright, let me try this again. I want everyone to stand up,"
he said standing himself, as well. "Now, take a look down at the big
seal
on the carpet." They did. It said 'Commanding Officer USS Capricorn'
with
an emblem of the Cap in the center. "Now, as I was saying. I'm
making
chili tonight and I would hope all of you would be there."

"Oh yeah!" "That's great!" "I love chili!" were some of the more
vocal
things he heard this time.

[END SNIP]

Miaren stifled a laugh as she heard everyone agree that his chili was
the
best and NO one would miss it for the world. She noticed that the
meeting
seemed to be over and she stood up and made her way to the door. She
almost
stopped to ask him about his chili, but she saw the First Officer make
her
way towards them, and the look on her face was not one that looked
like she
wanted pleasant chit-chat. Fearing she meant to publicly dress her
down for
the previous day's faux pas on the beach, Miaren ducked behind the
large OPS
officer and made her way out into the hall sighing in relief.

As she made her way back down to the medical center she heard a soft
gentle
brogue and she looked up and locked eyes with the one who had winked
at her
in the shuttle the morning before. Instantly she felt her face hot,
and her
cheeks flushed and it took every ounce of will power to pull away from
the
gaze of those sage green eyes. She looked down at her feet until she
rounded
the corner and leaned up against a wall.

"What was wrong with her?" she pondered. She was acting like some
silly
school girl. She was the head of the medical center for heaven sakes,
and.and.well.SHE just did NOT want or need anyone in her life right
now.
Shaking off those thoughts and where they suddenly led, she made her
way
back to the medical center that was her world. She was home here,
happy
here and she had to admit, safe here.

Miaren announced to all within hearing range that the annual physical
exams
were to begin, and that the Captain was their first customer. She
heard a
few light hearted chuckles and some odd words here and there and she
took a
deep breath and prayed it was not about the beach incident. She was
hoping
that it would be forgotten with the news of a new mission and slip
from
sight and notice as more im****tant things came into view.

Miaren had just finished getting things organized, when she was
notified the
Captain had just arrived. Miaren squared her shoulders and went out
to meet
her superior officer.

"Welcome to Medical." Miaren said and began to hold her hand out to
shake
it, and then remembered she was on a ****p now and pulled it into a
salute.

"At ease Dr." Captain Avi chuckled as he saluted her back. "It's your
Sick
Bay, not mine." He answered. "Altho." He stated while looking around
and
peering into some of the other rooms. "I like what you've done with
the
place." He smiled at her. "So, what changes have they made at
Starfleet
Medical since I was last there?"

Miaren smiled and nodded to show her pleasure at his approval of her
changes. She shared with him some of the changes she was aware of as
she
led him into the examination room. Once he was settled she began the
routine exam. She peppered him with questions and logged his replies.
 They
chatted about a few things and even shared a few laughs. When the exam
was
over he sat on the edge of the examining table.

"You are in fine shape Captain." Miaren said with a smile. "You
should be
proud of the fine condition you are in."

"You make me sound like I'm a Dinosaur, ready to put out to pasture!"
He
teased.

"NO!" she exclaimed. I dinna mean that!" she exclaimed. Her accent
and
lilt becoming more pronounced as her embarrassment increased." She
swallowed hard and tried again.

"Ya have a fine figure, quite spectacular, in my humble opinion!
Nothin I
saw the other mornin would have me thinkin otherwise." She added and
then
when she realized what she had said she felt her entire body flush
with
embarrassment. Why could she NOT get THAT image out of her head! She
was a
Doctor for heavens sake; she had seen many a **** body during
examinations
and other occasions. Why oh why could she not stop thinking about
this?
She looked up and saw him watching her and the look on his face, or
was that
a grin? or a smirk?

"Well, thank you for the compliment doctor, and of most everyone on
the ****p
you'd probably know second best." He answered with a grin.

Miaren felt the blush to her toes, and hoped she could not get any
redder.
She wondered how long before she could meet someone and not glow?

"So, why don't we see some of the additions you've made?" he replied
and
headed out the door. Miaren took a breath and followed him out the
door.

"This use to be my lab before I traded places." He spoke up. Miaren
smiled
and nodded and begun their tour.

[TAG- Josh - if you wish to add more to their little tour]

[SUMMARY]

Miaren wakes up and realizes where she is and arises to begin her day
of
many firsts.
She goes to the staff meeting and learns of their first mission and
takes
notes, so she can study and be ready for any hostile encounters.
The Captain is her first patient for the physicals that are needed for
the
crew. After a bumpy start, the exam continues and then she takes him
on a
tour of the medical center.

 [DL-D] The Flerrion Factor (JP)

Flerrion and Galendriel
Day 67, Dragon Clinic (med center)

Samson was off eating now and Galendriel decided it was time for her
to check
on those in the med center; she had a few pains from the Wyverns
herself, she
hadn't been able to avoid a few cuts and bruises and with the mating
call it
was the furthest thing from her mind. With as much grace as she could
muster
she spread her wings letting the air drop her down softly on the warm
sands
with in the med center. Of to each side were several rooms designed
for each
dragons need while recovering.

Currently the med center held two dragons, S'laze who had become
terribly
hurt and even now seemed restless in her dreams, and Flerrion. Moving
over closer
to see how the male dragon who gave up his place to save her she
blinked at
what she saw before her.
Flerrion's "quarters" at the med center were spacious, but at the same
time
secluded. The crimson dragon was half-dozing on a big pile of leather
cu****ons
in the center. A large water container was right next to the "bed,"
which was
a good thing since Flerrion wasn't up to much walking at the moment.
The
combination of his injuries and the pain relievers Rayn had given him
saw to that!
However, it was evident that he had admirers at the warren - several
cream
pies had been donated by the dining hall at T'rell's request, and
these were
within easy reach as well. A large banner that read "Our Hero" had
been hung just
behind the bed. The walls were thick and soundproof, ensuring that he
wouldn't
be disturbed by any outside noises. They also ensured that none of the
other
patients would be disturbed by any noises that he himself might make.

The golden dragon smiled, and sniffed at the pies. She had heard
stories of
them and couldn't help but wonder what the attraction was. Glancing
around she
could see he was still heavily bandaged. Not wi****ng to disturb him
she began
to move away when she heard movement come from Flerrion.

Flerrion, hearing movement, somewhat groggily raised his head. It took
him a
moment to focus on the large golden shape that stood nearby, and a
moment
longer to realize that it was a dragon. [Oh, hello there,] he said,
blinking. [Um,
where am I? Maybe you could just tell me where you are, since I think
we're
at the same place?] The dragon definitely looked familiar, but his
mind wasn't
running at full steam today.

Arching a brow she turned back, {Galendriel}, but decided a little
more
information was need so continued. {I'm in the med center with you}.

[Oh, I see,] he said, nodding as he tried to focus on her.
Unfortunately, for
some reason there seemed to be two of her, whereas he could only
remember
there being one Galendriel here before. He tried to figure out which
one he
should be talking to, and finally chose the one on the right. [Um, how
did I get
here? I remember...] He thought hard for a moment. [Wasn't there a
mating flight
going on? ] Usually, even Flerrion's memory was better than this, but
the
pain medication Rayn had given him earlier made his mind even less
logical and
ordered than was its usual state.

Galendriel wasn't sure what to make of the red dragon, but decided he
couldn't really be that slow it had to be something the healers were
giving him.
{Haven't you picked up the events from your rider, T'rell? Or is it to
hard to
keep up the communication with him. I would think he rather busy right
now}.
Seeing as though she might be here awhile she moved into the spacious
room and lay
down next to him. Not to close because she didn't want to hurt him any
more
then he was already.

Flerrion blinked. [Oh, I wouldn't know,] he said. [If he wants me for
something, he'll tell me. He does come to see me now and then,
though.] Now that she
was lying next to him, it was much easier to tell - by feel as much as
sight -
there was only one of her and not two, and that was reassuring.
[So...who was
in the mating flight? I remember being involved...and the other
dragon...the
one I was chasing...was *really* pretty! Hey, wait a minute...that was
you,
wasn't it?] He gave a happy rumble as he remembered catching up to the
vast
golden dragon in midair...but then something had happened, he couldn't
quite put
his claw on exactly what....

The corner of her mouth curled up in a smile at the praise of he
words, then
frowned that he didn't remember it all. But then she supposed there
was
something to that as well. {Pretty much most of the warren was up
there. It was
going pretty well until the dark creatures came up} she sighed.
{S'laze is also in
the med centerâ?¦} but she couldn't bare to say more on that subject.

Flerrion bobbed his head, trying to remember. [Oh...wait...I
remember...I
think!] He had had his claws on the golden dragon, had caught her fair
and
square, she just hadn't made it official by submitting...and they'd
been interrupted
by...the wyverns? He remembered fighting the dark creatures.

He peered intently at Galendriel, so intently that the golden dragon
raised
cocked her head inquiringly. [So...I won?? And we just didn't have
time to
finish, so you came here instead! That was really thoughtful of you!
Well, shall
we begin?] And before the golden dragon could say anything to correct
him, his
tail had twined about hers and he snuggled up tightly against her,
nuzzling
her neck with his nose.

Galendriel grunted not wanting to upset Flerrion and by no mean
desirous of
going through another mating so soon. She desperately racked her brain
for
something to say. {Slow down big guy. We need to get you healthy
before your ready
to try another mating flight} Thinking she might have already over
stayed her
welcome she tried to get up, but Flerrion had managed to get so close
she
found it difficult to move away from him without causing him some
pain. {Um I
think you need to sleep right now} She looked around hoping someone
was around to
help, but at this time it was very quiet in the med center. Well,
other then
Flerrion.

Flerrion giggled. [That's what the healers keep telling me,] he
replied,
snuggling even tighter against her and causing the queen to move away
just a bit.
But as she did, the crimson dragon heard a clicking noise and felt a
tug on
his harness - which hadn't been removed, even though the saddle had,
since the
healers had been in such a hurry to apply the bandages that they'd
actually
wrapped some of them around the cinching strap. [I don't think I'm
allowed to
come with you,] he chuckled, as her movement pulled him along as she
tried to sit
up. Turning her long neck and glancing back she wanted to shout, but
decided
that wouldn't be very regal. Their Harnesses had locked together. They
would
need a human to get free without breaking them or hurting Flerrion.
She sent a
call to Eternity to get Rayn but didn't know how long that would be.
{Careful
now are you're going to open those wounds again. I have it on good
authority
that you need sleep} She hoped that once he was a sleep it would be
easier to
slip away.

Flerrion yawned. [Okay,] he said, draping a forelimb across her chest
and
lying back, pulling the startled queen over onto her side against him.
[Since
we're going to be together, would you like something to eat?] He
craned his neck
over to look at the pies, but because of his blurred vision
accidentally stuck
his nose right onto one. [Oh, look,] he said, swinging his neck back
around.
He again misjudged the distance, and his nose bumped hers...and
Galendriel was
left staring wide-eyed at a smudge of cream filling perched right atop
her
nose.

A little perplexed she didn't know what to do, but she was feeling a
bit
uncomfortable. {No no I'm not hungry right now. Thanks you for the
offer though.
But what am I going to do with this cream stuff on my face?]

{*Hon, you ok?*} Thea sent to her friend concerned.

The last thing Galendriel needed was to have Thea see her in this
predicament. *I'm fine really* though she wasn't sure if Thea bought
her story or not.

{Um is there a place to wipe this cream off my nose} she asked
Flerrion.

Flerrion nodded again, with a silly grin on his face. [Sure, just like
this!]
His tongue came out and licked the cream right off of the queen's
nose. [Hey,
that's fun, maybe you could do that to me!] he giggled, nuzzling her
neck and
accidentally getting that sticky too. [Oope, here, let me take care of
that,]
he said, giving a further lick to remove the sticky filling.

{Um heyâ?¦ Don'tâ?¦ What?} If a dragon could blush Galendriel would be
as red as
Flerrion's scales. {Sleep, sleepâ?¦ remember the doctors orders}
Though there
was a part of her that enjoyed the attention. It was a bit
undignified.

[Oh....okay,] Flerrion said cheerfully - too cheerful for a dragon who
was
supposed to be resting, to say the least. [Here, you can do it to me!]
He stuck
his nose into one of the pies and then turned to face her, looking for
all the
world like he had sprouted a white beard of whipped cream on his
muzzle. He
tried to bring his head in close to hers, but once again his depth
perception
was off and only the queen's quick avoidance kept her from sharing his
adornment. Giggling, he stuck his nose at her again, which she again
narrowly avoided.

This was getting her no where and she wasn't about to lick someone's
nose.
She thought to herself. {*Lick whose nose*} Thea send back. Not able
to
concentrate on her work with what was going on with Galendriel.

*Flerrions nose, Sigh. I think he is being frisky* Galendriel said and
dodged
the playful red dragon.

{*Oh...}Thea like her dragon didn't know what to do with that
information.

Spying the large water basin, Galendriel gently but firmly bumped
Flerrion's'
nose into the water and sighed when she noticed she couldn't avoid
getting
cream on her own nose again.
Flerrion shook his muzzle, spla****ng small droplets of water onto the
queen,
who quickly ducked her head. The crimson dragon giggled when he saw
the spot
of cream on her nose again, and he licked his scaled lips. [I can
clean that
off for you,] he chuckled. He looked thoughtfully at the pies, or at
least as
thoughtful as a dragon in his condition could be. [Hm, maybe I can put
some more
cream on some other places and lick that off too!]

Thinking quickly, she moaned in slight pain. Hoping the dragon would
be more
concerned with her then the pies. His eyes looked toward her trying to
focus
concerned etched into his scaly face. Deciding she needed to help his
mind
along she supplied, {Oops sorry, I still hurt a bit from the dark
creatures
attack}

[Aw, I'm sorry to hear that,] Flerrion said, his features taking on a
mournful look. [You just lie back and I'll take care of you!] He gave
her an
unexpected ****ge that rolled her over onto her back. As she blinked in
surprise at
him, he snuggled tightly against her. His tail looped itself around
her legs
while he settled his neck across her chest and began to rub her
platinum
underside. [This will make you feel better,] he said, his nose
nuzzling against her
chest. Luckily his nose was only wet at this point, not cream-covered.

Torn between feeling good and feeling indignant she tried to pull away
but
the harnesses were still locked together. {Um slow down there big guy,
you need
to sleep. I'll not have you open that wound just to please me} not
wanting to
hurt him, but worried about where this was going she let her tail
trace his
wound.

The feel of her tail probing him caught him by surprise, and the
already
wobbly dragon lost his balance and sprawled next to her. He
immediately rubbed his
nose against her cheek and proceeded to give her a vigorous nuzzling.

[I'll go to sleep if you promise to do something for me!] he giggled,
then
surprised her by using a claw to gently tickle a spot on her ribs.
[Pleeeeeease?]

The queen flinched away, fighting to keep both her control and her
dignity.
[Oh very well,] she said quickly, twisting to avoid a second poke from
his
outstretched claw. [What is it you wish? If it gets you to stop and go
to sleep I
suppose it will be well worth it! How your rider deals with your
thoughts is
beyond me...!] She exclaimed.

Flerrion grinned happily. [I want a lullaby!] he said.

Galendriel's eyes widened. [A...a *lullaby?*] she demanded, outraged.
[Out of
the question! Now go to sleep!]

[I don't want to, then!] Flerrion answered petulantly, his tongue
darting out
to give her a lick right between the eyes.

[Oh, all right!] the queen said reluctantly. She could just imagine
what
Eternity's rider would think if she should come in and see the queen
being...being *slurped*...by Flerrion. Her dignity would be dented,
to say the very
least! Listening to make sure she didn't hear anyone coming, she
turned to regard
the crimson dragon. [I don't know any lullabies,] she said sullenly.
[You'll
have to tell me how it goes...]

[It's very easy,] Flerrion assured her. He mentally cleared his
throat, and
then began transmitting the lullaby. [Go to sleep...go to sleep...go
to sleep,
lit-tle dragon...]

[Absolutely not!] she declared, unable to think of how she would ever
live
down the embarrassment if anyone should overhear her singing something
so...so
childish! [Think up another one!]

[I want *that* one!] Flerrion said, sticking out a scaly lower lip.

The queen rolled her eyes. [Oh, good grief...] She had to dodge
another
determined slurp, then decided to risk it. [Gotosleep, gotosleep,
gotosle
eplittledragon...] she sang as quickly as she could.

[I can't understand you,] said a peeved Flerrion.

Galendriel sighed, knowing there was no way out of this but to risk
her
dignity and hope she could get Flerrion to sleep in time.
[Go...to...sleep,] she
gritted out, [Go....to...sleep...go to
sleep...little...grr...dra-gon...]

* * * * * * * *
As it turned out, she got Flerrion to sleep just in time for Rayn's
arrival.
It took Eternity's rider just a moment to undo the harness-snaps that
had
gotten hooked together, and the queen quickly got down off the bed
with a sigh of
relief.

She wasted no time in getting out of the dragon's chamber. Flerrion
turned
slightly in his sleep as the end of her golden tail disappeared from
view.
However, a moment later her head reappeared in the doorway, the look
on her face
that of someone who's forgotten to do something. The queen stealthily
leaned
forward and licked the remaining spot of cream off of the end of
Flerrion's
nose and then disappeared through the doorway again with a soft
giggle.

Summary: Day 67 - Galendriel goes to visit Flerrion at the med center,
where
their harnesses become entangled and she has to put up with him - and
hopefully get him back to sleep - before Rayn arrives to unhook them.
