Scene: Wyrmwood, Night 1
"Someone just lost a night to remember." The woman growled, dabbing at
the
front of her designer dress.
Shikyo was momentarily surprised at the woman's statement, but then
saw the
glance sent the man's way. She shrugged, and helped Blaze clean up her
dress
as best they could. On closer examination, Shikyo realized just how
expensive the dress probably was ... more than she could make in a
month.
"You could maybe try some vinegar on it when you get home. I'm so
sorry,
it's a beautiful dress."
"It doesn't matter." Blaze said, giving up. "Look, to show that I have
no
hard feelings towards you, how about I replace that drink of yours."
Shikyo grinned. "Sure!"
Blaze narrowed her eyes slightly. "Just make sure it stays in the
glass this
time."
* * * * *
Shikyo shook as her chair was run into. "Oopps! Ohmygawd! I am sooo
wasted!"
A weight pressed down on her shoulders, and all she saw a mop of
raibow
coloured blonde hair. A giggle rang in her ear, and alcohol tinged
breath
blew across her neck. Shikyo flushed slightly at the caress.
"I am so, so, so sorry." A young woman said, dressed for a night out
partying, and obviously living up to the clothing she wore. "But you
know
what they say, alcohol doesn't interfere with gravity, just your leg's
ability to understand it."
Actually, she hadn't heard that, but she liked the saying. Though
usually,
if Shikyo felt she didn't have control of her legs, she sobered
herself up
fast.
"I'm gonna make it up to you, let me buy you and your friends a
drink." And
without listening to any protest or pausing to even find out what
anyone is
drinking, she pushes off from Shikyo and lurches into the crowd.
Shikyo looked to the others at her table, then burst out giggling to
disguise being flustered. "Guess we're not the only ones having a good
time
out."
Vic rose from her seat. "Don't go anywhere." She ordered her
blue-haired
apprentice. Shikyo watched as Vic filtered through the crowd, then
shrugged
and finished the drink she already had.
NRPG: Just a little to continue moving the scene forward.
More to come,
Chris, aka Shikyo, apprentice witch.

Subject: [WEB] Arriving in the Big Apple
Scene: North New York City, early evening, Night 1
The sudden jolting stop of the bus startled Kyle out of his dozing.
He
blinked his eyes, refocusing on his surrounding. Ishiko lay against
him,
sleeping quietly. Kyle had found it strange that a ghost would sleep,
but
then perhaps it was just habit.
Flashing lights out front caught his attention. Police? He glanced
at the
other people on the bus. The woman across from him looked away
quickly at
his gaze, but he caught the suspicion in her eyes. 'Damn.' Kyle
cursed. He
was getting complacent in his old age. He snarled slightly, then
brought
himself under control. The woman probably was only doing what she
thought
was right. He and Ishiko did present a strange sight.
Ishiko popped awake when the bus doors opened. Everyone on board
looked
forward as a pair of police officers stepped up onto the bus.
The little Japanese girl blinked at Kyle in sleepy surprise.
"What are they looking for?" she asked.
"I don't know, Ishi" Kyle replied, in a tone more grim than usual.
"But just
to be on the safe side you'd better just try not to do anything
obvious,
like fading out or disappearing, alright?"
"I'm not *that* stupid," she pouted.
"I hope it's not us," Ishi continued. "But if they ask who we are,
I'll just
say I'm your sister, okay?"
Ishiko's statement caught Kyle off-guard. Kyle caught the slight
movement
of the woman next to him, and his eyes narrowed. He glanced forward
again,
and saw one of the policemen looking down the bus straight at him.
No, it wouldn't be okay if the police started asking questions. Kyle
had
little identification on him, and Ishiko certainly had nothing. If he
had
known then what he did now, he would have taken some of her papers.
A quick glance around, and he whispered to the girl. "Ishiko, on
second
thought, fade out now, and not a word from you until the police are
gone."
"But ..." Ishiko said in a small voice.
"Now, Ishi." Kyle hissed.
She sighed, slid down in her seat a little and faded away. "Is that
better?"
Kyle heard a tiny disembodied voice whisper.
He gave an all but imperceptible nod.
One of the officers walked down the aisle to where Kyle sat. He looked
at
Kyle, and then to the empty seat.
"Is there a problem, officer?" Kyle asked.
The officer shook his head, and turned to the woman in the seat across
the
aisle. "Are you the one who phoned the police?"
The woman nodded half-heartedly. "Yes, but I swear to you officer,
there was
a little oriental girl sitting right next to him."
The policeman looked back at Kyle, who shrugged. "I don't know what
she's
talking about, officer, I only came on board by myself." He patted his
jacket and pulled out his ticket. "Here, my ticket, just me."
The officer glanced at it and nodded. "Sorry to have bothered you,
sir." He
said, a bit stiffly, then turned back to the woman. Kyle glanced
outside. It
was probably time to get off anyway.
"Do you mind if I get off here, officer?" He asked, reaching up for
his
duffel bag.
The officer shook his headed absently, continuing to inform the woman
of the
possible penalties for calling in a false report.
Lifting the bag over his shoulder, Kyle nodded to the second officer
at the
front and stepped off the bus.
Kyle took in a deep breath, enjoying the fresher air over the
re-circulated
air that was being pumped through the bus.
"Now where?" Ishiko asked, still invisible.
Kyle's eyes fell upon a New York Times newspaper box. The headline
indicating the city's fear over yet another child abduction within its
bounds. He pulled out the last of a muffin that he had been eating on
the
bus, and laid it out on top of the box. It wasn't wilderness, but Owl
would
find some way to receive it.
"A place to sleep. Then we see what's happening in this city."
NRPG: More have come to the city. Hmm, we're getting quite a sizable
little
force gathering here :)

Subject: A Healers Job
Day 100
The Hatching Grounds
Rayn pushed her way through the crowed that had
gathered. Sharees stepped in to make a path. The
healer was nervous she had never seen a clutch
delivered. She knew that there would at least be 25
eggs. There had been no clutch smaller than that in
ages that any one had written about.
Stepping from onto the sands of the cavern, Rayn
remembered when it was S'laze that lay here. Much had
happened since then. Both S'laze and S'than had
recovered and were doing much better. Lexi and Puss
had be kidnapped and rescued and everyone was secretly
working on the attack against the wyverns. Rayn,
Pandora and Adams had been working without cease to
make a poison potent enough for them. Rayn was still
convinced that it lay somewhere within S'lazes blood
but that could be dealt with later.
Approaching the queen Rayn walked around the round
dragon. Laying her hand upon the scales of the stomach
she felt the contractions and with each contraction
brought forth a moment closer to the first egg. Rayn
approached the warren lady Thea.
"You are more than welcome to stay Milady but I warn
you it could be a while before we even see the first
egg. You might want to find a comfy seat to relax in
until the laying comme...." Rayn never finished her
sentence for the first egg plopped softly against the
sand. Now that the first had been delivered the rest
would follow one in each contraction. The Healer
rolled her sleeves up and took out her jar of salve
used to cool the area where the eggs left the body.
This helped with the process of laying. Rayn cooed to
Galendriel the queen was doing so well.
One hour and 6 eggs later everyone knew the day and
night would be long. Rayn had steadly taken each egg
and wiped it clean and gathered them on the hottest
part of the sands. Heading back to retrieve the
seventh egg of the day, she knelt and smiled. Making
sure to pay especial attention to this particular egg,
Rayn stood slowly cradling her precious cargo.
Stepping from behind Galendriel she announced in a
voice that would carry but not make the cavern echo.
"We have a new Queen."

The young woman is easy enough to find. She's on the dance floor with
a tangle of other young people. Three men and another woman and it's
uncertain which is dancing with which, but they are all dressed in the
latest MTV chic.
The thief is brazenly wearing her new accessory.

Day 100 Early Morning
Taking in some fresh air Pandora leaned against the outside wall of
the Med Center, sipping on a cup of coffee she watched the men dueling
on the green. They were a distance away but she knew who it was and
couldn't help admire the lean bodies of the two as they lunged and
parried with expert precision.
She'd been up before dawn preparing reports for Thea briefing the
Warrenlady on anything major that might need her attention. This
morning though she'd omitted a few things mainly because they were
personal and she wasn't sure how she felt about them.
The sound of the swords clashing rang faintly as the azure eyes lifted
to Almantha's favorite rock and noticed the queen lay with her back to
the green which was quite unsual. Pandora knew her soulmate wasn't
sleeping but thinking about the disturbing news they had received, as
was she.
The wounds the queen had received from the battle almost 3 months ago
had not healed as well as Bentiv had hoped and he feared there could
be some lasting repercussions. Timbolo confirmed the options that the
elderly dragonhealer had given her, and neither was overly pleasant.
Pandora knew she needed to talk to T'rell about it, but the thought of
it tore at her insides.
Of course if the Wingleader had his druthers, he'd have Almantha
drawn, quartered, stuffed and mounted over the fireplace. Why the
dragon tortured him the way she did was beyond Pandora, but Almantha
seemed to take a perverse delight in tormenting T'rell ever chance she
got. It had become a game to the young dragon and on more then one
occasion she'd had to restrain T'rell to keep him from accosting the
coppery queen. Not that Almantha didn't deserve it, but still....
Turning her gaze to the men, she couldn't help but notice the way the
sweat glistened on their muscular bodies especially the healer. Adams
was a handsome man of that there was no doubt. She'd even overheard
some of the aids giggling about him and at first thought it rude, but
seeing him now... her cheeks grew pink and she chided herself for
gawking.
Thankfully the sound of footsteps approaching brought her out of her
reverie..
"Ya wanted ta see me?"
[..] a short while later in Pandora's office in the med center
"Are you sure?" the little blonde blazed at the jr. queenrider.
"Yes, I'm sure!"
"But I did the proper things! I did all the stuff ya said!" Puss
exclaimed.
The healer smiled, "Puss, it's a fact of nature and it happens, quite
a lot in fact! There is no guarantees except for ...."
"Then fix it!" the blonde interrupted hotly.
Pandora sighed sadly, this was not the reaction she'd expected, and
'fixing it' was something the queenrider found extremely distasteful.
"Puss, I can't believe you mean that and besides it's almost too late.
If you had come to me sooner...." She interjected softly.
The blonde sighed deeply pursing her lips in a fatalistic manner,
"Awww, I don't know that I mean! This ain't happenin' ta me! It just
can't be!" All the fight appeared to drain out of the little woman and
she appeared to shrink before Pandora's eyes. "I was so careful, too!"
Seating herself next to the rider the dark-haired woman smiled gently,
her eyes filling with compassion. "Sometimes it happens! I think if
you just talk to..."
"NO!" Puss hollered jumping up. "And don't you be tellin' nobody
either, ya hear!"
This was not going well at all, "Puss, listen.."
"Promise me Pandora! Promise ya won't be sayin' nothin'! You know
what'll happen if T'rell finds out! I'll get grounded sure as
shootin', and what good am I then!"
Rising, the queenrider smoothed her apron then took the blonde's hands
in hers giving them a comforting squeeze, "Puss, please, don't put me
in this position! I'm a terrible liar and that's pretty much what
you're asking me to do!"
"Panda, yer a healer now, I know they gotta have some kind a code ta
live by, or somethin'!" Puss gazed up at her pleadingly, tears
swelling in the big blue eyes.
Oh Puss, don't....!" Pandora sighed wiping the tears from the flushed
cheeks. "Listen, you have some time, besides it's not going to be a
matter of me saying anything, you can't hide this for long!"
"I know! I know! I'll figger out somethin'! Just promise me! At least
fer now!"
The two women gazed at each other for several moments then the
queenrider sighed, "I promise..."
Puss jumped forward hugging her tightly, "Thanks so much! Yer a real
pal!"
Pandora staggered slightly when she was abruptly released, "Now wait a
second you didn't let me finish!" She called after the woman who was
now hurrying towards the door.
The blonde stiffened and she stopped and turned around, "Whut?" Puss
asked crossing her arms like a shield.
"I promise not to say anything, for now! But soon I will have no
choice! So I'm hoping you will do the right thing between now and
then."
Puss nodded curtly and spun on her heal just as Pandora added an 'AND'
to the conversation.
"Now whut?" The little woman demanded.
"If something happens and your health is jeopardized for any reason.."
"Well, ain't nothing gonna happen!"
[..] Later
The call had come about the Queen laying and people were hurrying
towards the hatching cavern but Puss sat under the tree with an empty
jar of oil and a soaked rag. After a good oiling and rubdown Bootsie
literally glowed, her neon pink scales shining brightly under the sun
and she was as pretty as a picture. Today though it gave the little
blonde no joy and the only thing that came to mind was her mother.
"Hey Puss, c'mon lets go to the hatching!" Olaf hollered loping up to
the little woman and scooping her up to plant a huge kiss on her lips.
Something he did pretty regular since they gotten back from the farm.
"Put me down ya big galoot!" Puss snapped, swatting the farmboy hard
in the shoulder.
Grinning, the big man released her, "Galendriel is laying her eggs,
everybody is talkin' about it!"
"Ah know! Ah heard, ah just got things ta do!"
"Awww c'mon Puss, lets go watch!"" He exclaimed, grabbing her hand and
pulling her to follow.
Resisting for a moment, Puss sighed and let herself be led, Olaf's
exuberance bringing a small smile to her face.
[..] in the hatching cavern stands
"If only you had come to me sooner.." the words kept running through
her head. Why hadn't she gone to see Pandora when she first suspected?
Fear, denial, disbelief, or something else, Puss wasn't sure which.
But she knew that there was no way she could allow herself to end up
like her mother. She had to get away but leaving the warren now was
the worst possible thing. That would short them a rider and they
needed all the help they could get with all those varmits hanging
around. Of course T'rell would ground her the second he found out
anyway, so maybe her going might not be a bad thing after all. She'd
only be in the way. It was just a matter of going without everyone
finding out why, especially Olaf. Lordy if he found out, only knows
what would happen. He'd for sure tell his Momma and then all hell
would break lose. Last thing the warren needed was Olaf's Momma
showing up, that woman could make the critters themselves cringe in
fear and regardless of how she felt about Olaf she wasn't gettin'
roped into anything.
"Puss, we got a queen egg!" The farmboy whooped almost knocking the
buxom blonde off the end of the stands. Suddenly Puss was snapped up
into a huge bear hug as the cavern erupted in cheers and trumpeting
roars.
Day 101 Early Morning in the dining hall
It had been a bittersweet night with all the rivalry going on over the
eggs, especially with a new queen in the clutch..It had been a joyous
moment amidst the dark gloom that hung over the Warren. Through it all
Puss had smiled and laughed with the others all the while plotting her
course of action only half listening to the happy chatter. A few times
she'd caught Pandora watching her but pretended she didn't notice.
She was being irrational but she know longer cared.. Even though a
part of her was feeling like she was abandoning her friends in their
time of need Puss clung to the fact that she'd be useless to them on
the ground. Leaving Olaf bothered her more then she cared to admit but
she couldn't tell him. He loved being a dragonrider more then anything
in the world and she couldn't take that away from him. His dumb code
of honor or his Momma would make him do something dumb and that's the
last thing she needed or wanted.
"Puss, is somethin' wrong, you look kinda pee-ked this morning!" Olaf
asked from across the small table.
'Ah'm fine," Puss answered curtly, a wave of guilt washing over her.
"Ya sure yer ok? You shore don't look like ya feel good! You ain't got
patrol today so you coulda slept in!"
Irritated at his gentle concern Puss opened her mouth to answer then
clamped her lips shut. Scooping up some egg onto a piece of toast she
chewed it thoughtfully staring at the plates of food on the table. Her
stomach rolled at the sight of Olaf wolfing down his food and the
little blonde rose to her feet.
"Ain't you gonna be late or sumpthin'?"
"Yup, guess ah gotta get goin'!" He answered downing a glass of milk
and shoving some biscuits in his pocket. "Seems kind of strange not
goin' out with ya today. Things are shore changin' with all the
patrols goin' out!" Olaf jumped up pulling her into his huge arms.
Puss fought to blink back the tears that threatened as she hugged him
tightly giving him a lingering kiss.
"Oooo-eeee I done like that!" The farm boy grinned when she finally
released him.
"Oh ya big dope!" Puss exclaimed playfully swatting him in the chest.
"Get goin' or yer partner's gonna leave without ya!!"
A lump formed in Puss's throat as she watched the blue dragon
disappear from sight. She didn't dare let her personal feelings get in
the way or she might have second thoughts.
[..] a few minutes later on the ledge of Puss's apt.
[Are you sure about this?] Bootsie questioned in a worried tone as
they landed on the ledge of the cliff apartment. Her rider had not
been thinking quite right since yesterday and the pink dragon didn't
like the idea of them just leaving, but had keep her silence as her
rider bid. She couldn't see why her rider was so upset, hatchlings
were a good thing.
It didn't take long for the little woman to write her letters, pack a
satchel and a bag of food from her larder then stow the rest of her
belongings into her old trunk. Mounting the neon dragon they glided
easily downward to the offices and Puss slipped in unseen leaving a
note of absence for T'rell, and a letter for Olaf on the Wingleader's
desk. Olaf had been learning his letters, but still wasn't up to
reading so good yet, but she figured T'rell or someone else would help
him. Then after leaving a note for Pandora asking her to care for her
trunk the blonde hurried out.
Checking the apartment ledges for the sapphire Chamelle Puss tacked a
note to Sharees shop door. The leather crafter was about the best
friend she had in the warren and it wouldn't be right just leaving
without saying goodbye. Hurrying to the waiting pink dragon Puss
wondered if maybe she shouldn't have added that part about slapping
Lexi upside the head to knock some sense inta him. It was kinda rude.
She slowed her pace and debated at retrieving the letter, but seeing a
group of riders getting ready to take off changed her mind, and Puss
hurried to the waiting Bootsie..
[You know if you would just talk to Byorn's rider I ..]
*No! We're goin' and that's final!* Puss answered swinging into the
saddle. She barely finished strapping herself in when the riders rose
into the air and the bright neon pink and green dragon rose with them,
still a bit unsure as to her rider's strange mental state.
[Rider, I'm not too sure about this, I'm going to miss cuddling with
Byorn and what about the hatching? And where is this place we're going
to?]
*We'll maybe be back one of these days, and we're going to a place
where no one will think to look!* Puss answered as the pink teleported
from sight, the dragon not realizing the image that her rider had
given her was part of a false trail.

Day 100
Early Morning: Panda contemplates the guys sparring, then talks to
Puss with not too happy results
Day 101
Early Morning: Puss has breakfast with Olaf before he goes on patrol.
Waiting for him to leave Puss puts her plan into action. Packing she
leaves some notes in T'rell's and Pandora's offices then she and
Bootsie wait and lift off with other dragons so not to draw attention
to their leaving and the two leave to parts unknown.

Either way, though, they were having this first staff meeting since
vacation in his office. Since they were down an FCO and their CSO was
a little laid up. "Well, it appears that we've got some work to do.
Our esteemed leaders are sending us over to the edges of Starfleet
space. We'll be going to the Marin system. Lt, I think you have some
experience there, if I'm not mistaken." The Captain said, looking over
to the Science Officer. She nodded in assent, but something was hiding
her eye making it difficult to read.
"Good. Please prepare a small note on what you remember. Starfleet has
given us some info, but nothing is quite as good as hands-on
knowledge. You see, it seems as if base 613 received a distress call
from the planet's surface. It appears as if a shuttle craft, almost
long forgotten and written off for lost there, has finally re-made
contact."
"Any idea who it is?" Istria asked curiously. Normally, she wouldn't
speak up in these meetings, rather wait for afterwards to ask her
questions.
"Not yet. They haven't gotten two-way communications working yet. Only
the distress beacon, and its our job to find out what's going on.
We've got two days to get there, so Lt. Commander Dernah, you'll have
the conn for first shift, Commander Phillips, you'll have second." Avi
said, nodding to Brendan first, then Montana next. "Now, as I'm sure
you all saw in your morning memos, Dr. Hywell has asked us to all come
in for checkups. I will be there at 1000 hours, and I expect off-duty
senior staff members to be there by end of first shift." Avi said.
"Anything else?" He asked looking around the table.
"Yes Sir." A'kora said, leaning forward a fraction. "We appear to be
missing a crewman.
"Crewman Waverly, a transporter technician, was not as his assigned
station when we departed station." The Chief Engineer stated.
"Transporter Logs indicate he transported down planetside well before
the Bayron Sweep but the destination was incorrect."
"Incorrect?" The Captain asked.
"If the coordinates recorded were indeed his point of arrival, he
would have fallen thirty two point six meters. I do not believe
Crewman Waverly was capable of independent levitation." A'kora
responded. "Other factors in the transporter log indicate tampering.
But a side effect of the Bayron Sweep is that the transporter buffers
are cleared. Even if the transporters had not been in a state of high
activity while the crew returned it would be impossible to compare the
buffer signal to the one recorded in the Transporter Logs."
"I have technicians looking into the matter of discovering where it is
that Technician Waverly transported himself." A'kora continued.
"Interviews with the crew have already indicated he left his post
without waiting for proper authorization. It is possible he deserted,
though such an action would be highly illogical."
"Foreseeing that he might have found a method to outwit the ship's
internal scanners I have had my personnel have completed a complete
physical search of engineering spaces and all voids and cargo spaces.
It is possible he is hiding in an unused cabin, but highly unlikely."
"His medical profile does not indicate any suicidal tendencies, but it
is possible he suffered some form of depression which has escaped
notice. I would suggest all departments conduct a physical search of
all spaces; the ingenuity of humanoids set on self-destructive actions
is impressive. Failing to locate a corpse, I can only deduct that
Crewman Waverly did indeed depart the ship in an illegal fashion and
has no intent to return to duty."
OOC
Ya'll have always used acronyms that confuzzle me.
FCO? Fire Control Officer?
CSO? Combat Systems Officer?
Also
I think in my previous post I mistook what day it was. If BD 11 is
the day we leave the planet then it should be the day indicated by my
last message. The BD has always confuzzled me too. I got notes on it
someplace I am sure but not here in South Carolina.

A'kora exited the turbo lift, her mouth set in a small frown. Her
medical records were up to date, as with all transferring personnel
she had just undergone a complete check up before departing her last
duty station. It was illogical to repeat the process, but long ago
she had found it much easier to just submit to these whimsical
pronouncements by Commanding Officers.
In times past she had ignored such decrees, voicing the logical
reasons why when asked. A'kora believed that many Vulcans amused
themselves in such a fashion. When you could meditate and discover if
your body had any ills much more thoroughly it seemed illogical to
have a doctor confirm what you already knew. It was more efficient,
however, to simply let the humans have their way and return to
important matters. Yet so many Vulcans balked at this sort of thing
that A'kora knew it had to have some motive beyond logic. Her bet was
on amusing themselves with logic debates and frustrating Ship's
Doctors.
At another time, with a crew she knew better, A'kora would certainly
have indulged in a week or more of "dodge the doctor" but she wanted
to focus on her duties first.
And so A'kora entered into the Sick Bay at 1100 hours and sought out
the Ship's Doctor.
"Leiutenant Commander A'kora, reporting for medical checkup as ordered
by the Ship's Captain." She gave Miaren a salute.
"My medical records." A'kora held out a data crystal after the Doctor
had returned her greeting. "My recent arrival may have prevented your
systems from containing the latest updates of my records."
