Subject: [USS Capricorn] Chill-itis!
In the late hours of Day 9 and wee hours of Day 10
[Snip]
A'kora looked up at him.
"I do look forward to serving onboard with you, and perhaps to share
further debating sessions with you."
[End Snip]
Moran sighed inwardly, not that he really expected more, but someone
to cuddle with for the night would've been nice, not that there was
that much left of it, but still..
Amazingly, despite his injuries Moran felt quite invigorated and knew
if he was to ever get any sleep he needed to relax. Sometimes his
Klingon blood was just too overpowering for it's own good and a good
fight always got him fired up. The fact that A'Kora was politely
bru****ng him off didn't bother him all that much. He would have been
more disappointed if she hadn't. Now that she was part of the crew, he
could wait and after seeing the woman fight he was sure it would be
well worth it.
With the slightest hint of a smile he gazed down at the lush lips that
unconsciously beckoned, "It has been quite a night and probably more
of a welcome then you were bargaining for! Actually, a soak in the hot
tub would do wonders for the body and mind, but I understand
completely. As for Ury, trust me you will have no problem at all
meeting up with him. In fact, once he's up and about I don't doubt
he'll come looking for you. Ury Rogan is our chief of security..."
A'Kora raised a brow in true Vulcan like fa****on and Moran's smile
turned into a grin. "Yes indeed, he'll definitely want to talk to you
in depth as soon as he can! I'm sure you'll agree that having an
officer show up out of the blue, with....or without their uniform is
highly irregular." He saw her stiffen at the offhand reference to her
rather unorthodox arrival, or should he say arrivals,, but his gaze
never left her face. "I am truly sorry that your arrival wasn't under
better cir***stances."
The Vulcan woman's face remained without emotion, but her eyes told a
different story. Yes, there was a lot more to A'Kora then met the eye.
and she fascinated him far more then he cared to admit. A complex
woman if there ever was one, and a true paradox just by her heritage
alone and Moran was sure that the days to come would prove to be quite
interesting. With a faint bow, "I will live you to settle in for now.
Rest well A'Kora, and if you should change your mind the hot tub is
right behind the bungalows," he said pointing towards a well worn
path.
[..] A few minutes later
Disrobing, Moran climbed into the hot tub, even though the night was
warm, the water was warmer sending a little ****ver through the
Hawaiian. A loud sigh escaped from the man as he sank into the
steaming depths. The heat was like an instant remedy to sore muscles
and he stretched out letting his head drop back on the padded side.
Despite the warmth he was ever alert and watched as steamy tendrils
rose from the water swirling in time to the bubbles rising from the
jets. It really had been quite a day, murder, an officer flipping out,
a ****d woman, mystery's, fights and general mayhem, all within 24
hours. Hopefully it was just a string of random incidents and not
connected somehow.
There was going to be a lot to do tomorrow and with Ury down that
would double the load. He would have to make sure that all the re****ts
were ready for the CSO once he was up and about. Moran liked the tall
redhead, he had been a good replacement for Montana. Not too many
could fill the Boss's shoes, but Rogan was damn close even though he
was less experienced. He was surprised at how much the two were alike
in some things and at times it was damn eerie the way Ury and Montana
could be talking about some security issue and end up fini****ng each
other's sentences. Moran chuckled to himself reflecting on the two
tall redheads. Sometimes he wondered if they hadn't been related in a
former life. Both were not only super stickler's for details, but were
also like a couple of pit bulls with a bone when they got onto
something. But that's what made them good and brought results. If
there was a connection Ury would find it.
The faint snap of a twig had the big man tensing but then the soft
footfalls brought a smile to his face. She had come! A'Kora had
changed her mind! Suddenly feeling a bit smug Orgola turned and his
smile slipped a little when the cute little blonde from Ops stepped
out of the shadows. Wrapped only in a towel, her creamy white flesh
glowed enticingly in the moonlight but Moran couldn't help feel a stab
of disappointment. Forcing his smile upward, "Hi Keesha!"
"Hi Handsome! Room for one more?"
Day 10:1600
Montana smiled as Jeep marched back and forth on her desk loud
chattering beeps and squawks emitting from the walking puffball. "Yes,
it is good to be home but the planet was rather nice... at least at
times."
With her antennae waving wildly the tiny TaNog went into a serious of
suggestive high pitched whistles and Montana's cheeks turned a pretty
pink. "Jeep! That's not very nice! What Avi and I do together is none
of your business and no I don't need any coaching on human mating
practices! Cheeky little brat!" The woman snorted with a chuckled.
Moving to a small crate that sat in the center of the floor she
removed the plastic coolant seal then proceeded to pull off the lid
and the wonderful aroma of fresh fruit and vegetables assailed her
nose. Loud thumps behind her made the tall redhead smile as she knew
Quincy and Nat could smell it too. The arboretum supplied most of
their dietary requirements, but Montana tried to add a little variety
whenever possible. After making sure that planets flora wasn't
dangerous to her pets and the Capricorn environment, she'd sent a
crate to the ****p. Most though and tasty, yet not overly nutritious,
Montana had selected a colorful variety for the green machines as an
exotic treat.
A type of melon she'd found on Teanna IV had been a real find though
and she'd managed to secure some seeds for Kelly to try growing. Even
though it was considered a melon of sorts by the Teannian's it was
quite similar in taste and texture to a pumpkin, albeit the purplish
color was a little odd but it was far higher in calcium making it a
dietary delight for Quincy and Nat. Sharp claws dug into her legs as
both Giant Green Iguanas mindless of the pain they were causing
climbed up her legs trying to get into the crate to bite at the fruit.
"Geezus you two, you act like you haven't eaten in a week! Ouchhhh,
and I do believe it is seriously claw clipping time!" Montana quipped,
wincing from the needle sharp claws piercing her skin. Sliding to the
floor she was practically knocked over by the large male as he
insistently tried to relieve her of the prized treat. "Hold on! Just a
minute will you!" A laughing gasp came from the woman as she sliced
open the melon and Quincy jerked the piece away, wolfing down the
stringing insides. Montana gasped painfully as Natty came over her
shoulder and half slid into her lap almost nipping her fingers to get
her share. "Talk about pigs, I guess we'll just call you Piglet 1 and
2 from now on! And look at the mess you're making!"
The chime sounded at her door and Montana bade enter as she extradited
herself from the sloppy mess that was rapidly growing..
"Oh man, they're back! I think duty calls or something!"
"Oh don't even think about it! I need someone to help me clip claws!"
The invisible TaNog arrived on Avi's shoulder, her tiny arms and huge
hands immediately enfolded his head in a hug and she chattered
happily. A loud groan came from the Captain, "Hi Jeep, can't you get
Moran to help you?" He asked in muffled tones from the unseen hand
half covering his mouth.
Montana gazed over at him with one of those looks that said he was
helping whether he liked it or not. "You know Jeep you need to
straighten out your buddy and let her know that's it's highly
undignified for a Starfleet Captain to be grooming a big lizard!"
The weight on his shoulder disappeared and the next instance the male
Iguana was in a tug of war with an invisible enemy trying to steal his
food. His tail lashed out with unerring accuracy at the floating piece
of fruit and the TaNog screeched, then all was quiet for a moment
before a chunk of melon lifted out of the crate and flew through the
air hitting the large reptile in the head. "Jeep, leave Quincy alone,
there's plenty for you too!"
Avi sighed sinking into the plush couch, "I swear Montana you live in
a zoo! This must be what having kids is like!" A mischievous glint
came to the officer's eye as they roamed over the shapely figure of
the tall woman, "Hmmmm, gee dear, it's been a long day, you want to
rub my feet!" The scathing look he received from the First Officer had
the Captain chuckling. "You know we could always sneak back to the
beach for a few hours!" Avi teased already knowing her response.
"One humiliation for the day is enough!" Montana retorted turning her
back on him to pick up some of the still intact fruit to keep it from
being ground in to the carpet by the ravenous iguana's.
"Ah, but you'll have to agree, before that was just a little piece of
heaven!" Avi sighed from directly behind her. The tall redhead spun
around and was pulled into a tight embrace squi****ng the fruit in her
hands between them.
"Ewww!" Montana gasped making a face as she felt the pulp ooze between
her fingers and soak into her ****rt. "Avi!!!"
"Better yet, how about a shower? Neither of us have duty for awhile!"
He grinned wickedly, wiggling against her playfully pu****ng her
backwards.
"Ohhh yuck, stop!" she exclaimed trying to pull away. Trying to sound
stern she stiffened, "I do believe it would be rather undignified for
the First Officer to show up with fruit squished between her.." The
words were out before Montana realized what she had said, and her
cheeks flamed crimson at the mischievous glint that came to Avi's
eyes.
"Oh, never fear fair lady, I think I can help you with that!"
MD 1 0900
[During the briefing]
<Snippets>
I can only deduct that Crewman Waverly did indeed depart the ****p in
an illegal fa****on and has no intent to return to duty."
***
"I concur." Avi said, looking at her. Akora had a slightly lighter
tone about her, since they returned to the ****p. Of course, then
again, so did he. "I've never met crewman Waverly, I'll have to see
his file once we're done here." Avi finished up. "Does anyone have
anything else?"
<End>
Montana leaned forward in her chair her brows furrowed in thought,
"Waverly was not one to ****rk his duty, or leave his station without a
good reason! I find it hard to believe that he would just up and leave
the ****p and not return. Considering the problems we have encountered
the last few days I agree a ****p wide search is imperative, down to a
biocellular scan if necessary!" She said glancing at the new engineer
before continuing. "Something's not right and we need to know what it
is!" the XO finished in her usual brusque manner.
MD 1:1630
Montana shook her head at the Doctor's embarrassment. Despite her
earlier ire she couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the new
officer. Even though she knew Harry was a practical joker it surprised
her that Maria would so willingly go along with such foolishness.
Normally, it was Maria who was the serious one of the couple and ran
interference for her husband's antics, so he at least didn't get
himself strangled. Actually, ever since she and Avi had seriously
'gotten together' Maria and Harry had both been acting rather
strangely, to put it mildly. Shaking her head with a sigh Montana
headed towards the kitchenette behind the bar, "Some people!" she
muttered to herself.
<Snip>
Although, quite a few people were going back for seconds, so that was
something, right?
"Excuse me!" He spoke up a bit looking to get people's attention. He
gestured that the people who were "dying" in the corner by the
replicator continue trying to save their tired tongues. "For those of
you with 4 alarm fires going on, I apologize on behalf of the
perpetrators, but on my own behalf, I'm glad those of you who made it
were able to. And, I hope that you enjoy the rest of the evening. Many
thanks to those officers that brought some of their own specialties.
Obviously, I'd be negligent if I didn't mention that ****ft change is
in 4 hours, and enjoy the rest of the night, everyone!"
Avi shook a few hands before walking back over to the Fountaines and
his lovely girlfriend. "I thought you did a good job, 9.8, at least,
but the Klingon judge only gave you a 9.5. Better luck next time,
s****t." Harry said. Avi just chuckled as he took another spoonful,
just so other people would see him, and not think it was totally
terrible. Quickly sucking down a glass of milk provided by the doctor,
he felt some relief wash over him.
<End>
Montana rolled her eyes and shoved a piece of special bread at him
that she'd had Sid'let bake up and that the servers were now
distributing to the tables, along with plates of crackers to help take
a little of the 'bite' out of Avi's culinary extravaganza. She'd grown
up with a father that dearly loved spicy food, the hotter the better
was his motto. But he always found things to help those with a weaker
constitution stomach some of his more fiery creations. A type of bread
called Ma's bread, an ancient recipe he'd stumbled across was one of
the better things he'd come up with. Even though it was filled with
spices it wasn't overly sweet and was the perfect compliment for hot
chili. Being her Dad's sole taste tester it had saved her stomach on
more then one occasion.
Leaning close she said, "You know Captain, I do believe there are
regulations against victimizing the crew!" Casting a brief glance at
the doctor she added, "Not once, but twice no less!"
"But I didn'..." Seeing the faint glimmer in the emerald eyes Avi
straightened, "Why I do believe you're right Commander! Sabotage is a
serious offense and shouldn't be taken lightly!" Both senior officers
turned simultaneously to stare at the grinning Fontaine's and the
sheepish Doctor.
Showing no emotion Montana pursed her lips, "I think nothing short of
at least a week of scrubbing the ****p trans****ters by hand, with
possibly the smallest brush on the ****p might be appropriate! What do
you think Sir?"
It was so unlike Montana to tease in such a fa****on that it was
obvious Avi was having a hard time containing himself but managed to
somehow keep a straight face and even frown a little, though his eyes
told a different story, "Why I think.."
The Doctor's horrified look at the sudden realization of what the XO
was referring to brought a swift defense of her new friends and
Montana had to excuse herself before she broke out in laughter. It
simply wouldn't do to have the 'ice princess' be anything but.
[..]
Seeing the new engineer sitting by herself Montana approached the
woman and taking the offered seat, "I'm glad that you had a chance to
join us this evening Lt. Commander! The Captain does so enjoy these
kinds of get togethers. Despite the fact that things have been a
little chaotic since we've been back on board, I hope you've had a
chance to settle in. Are your quarters satisfactory?"
"Yes Commander, thank you!" A'Kora replied in the usual vulcan
non-committal tone.
Perky Pris, as several of the crewman had dubbed the happy server,
placed a basket of the spiced bread and crackers on the table with a
her usual smile. "Hope you ladies are enjoying the fare?". The faint
nods and identical sobering looks she received from the two women sent
the small brunette scurrying off for more friendlier climes.
Just then Moran appeared with a heaping bowl of rice smothered with
the Captain's chili. "Smells great!" He exclaimed sliding into the
empty chair. "Hope I'm not intruding?" He asked looking from one woman
to the other.
"No, actually I'm glad you're here, I wanted to talk to you about
Crewman Waverly!" The First Officer said in a low tone. She knew Avi
hated hearing business at these things so she kept her voice down. "I
finally heard back from the surface. They have found no sign of him
and that worries me. The local constable will continue the search but
it doesn't look too hopeful. Unfortunately, the planet has a lot of
places to hide if one wanted to 'get lost' for some reason. Waverly
might have been a lot of things but desertion, dereliction of duty..."
Shaking her head, "I find it hard to believe."
Orgola nodded, "Waverly was an okay guy! Not the brightest in
Starfleet, but he liked his job and always performed well. Crewmembers
don't just disappear and I agree, him taking off just doesn't make
sense! Of course we could be wrong about him, he could have left a
trail with his com badge and falsified logs, but that just doesn't
feel right either!"
Glancing over to the engineer then back to the security officer, "With
Ury out of commission for the next day or two, I want you to work
together and see what you can come up with. The farther we get away
from Teanna IV lessen our options. Re****t to me immediately if you
find anything! Now if you'll excuse me I have some things to attend to
before I'm due back on the bridge. Enjoy your evening!"
MD 2:1400 hrs
Montana sat 'on the throne' staring at the view screen and the passing
stars. With a sigh she rose and wandered around the bridge checking
out each station. It wasn't like she had that far to go. Late ****ft
was always so boring and you could only check things out so many times
without causing a riot amongst the staff. Even the galaxy seemed to
sleep at this time of night. The liveliest thing that had happened so
far was 2 of the bridge crew had come down with chronic cases of
chili-itis.
A faint groan from the Ops station had her turning to eye the man, who
was quite obviously a pale shade of green. Considering he was a
Bolian, this was not a good sign. "Ensign, re****t to sickbay!"
"Commander, I will be fi.."
"Go!" she ordered, tapping her combadge, "Bridge to sickbay, this is
Commander Phillips, Ensign Retelic will be re****ting in shortly! He
appears to be quite ill!"
[Affirmative Commander, but I have to tell you it's getting a bit
crowded in here!] the nurse answered with a faint chuckle.
"What's the count up to now?" Montana asked with a sigh of
resignation. Avi's chili was definitely having a devastating 'after
affect', it was probably good that things were quiet after all.
[The Ensign will make number 54 Ma'am!] come the tinny reply.
The tall redhead rolled her eyes, "Keep me apprised of the situation,
Phillips out!"
Well at least those in Sickbay had something to keep them busy she
thought, deciding to write a letter to her father. "Crewman Thompson
make sure the Ensign makes it 'safely' to sickbay!" She added noting
the Ensign was doubled over in agony at this point.
Dropping like flies her Dad would say which reminded the lanky redhead
she owed him a letter. With all her re****ts caught up and with the
bridge secure there was no time like the present.
NRPG: No particular tags but feel free to jump in! Hmmm, so when is
Ury waking up enough to toment?
Respectfully submitted by,
Commander Montana Phillips,
First Officer, USS Capricorn
AKA
Tree Deutscher

Wyrmwood
Fi glanced in some surprise as the extremely drunk clubber made her
giggly way back onto the dance floor, despite her proclaimed loss of
leg control. When Vic stood up and followed just a moment or so
later, the conversation that had been limping along faltered
altogether.
She sat back, wondering if this clubber was a regular problem - the
kind that never did no when to say when - or if there was something
else to read in Lady Ess's apparent recognition. Kysen was attempting
to revive the conversation - and doing a far better job than Fi could
- so she let her end lapse as she pondered.
Just as she'd decided she wasn't going to figure anything out by just
theorizing ahead of her facts and it was past time to be polite and
join in on the talking, a vibration in her pocket alerted her to the -
inaudible in the club noise - ring of her cellphone. Frowning, she
pulled out the small phone and peered at the number calling and
promptly swore.
"Dammit, I'm not on call," she muttered, flipping the phone open to
accept the call. "MacCreavey," she snapped.
After a moment, she responded with an icy, "And just what is it I can
do for you at this hour, Detective?"
The answer on the other end was apparently long, but it drained the
blood from Fionula's face and she breathed a heartfelt "****".
She shook her head and finally murmured back into the phone, "Give me
20 minutes. My office."
She snapped the phone shut and smiled apologetically at those seated
near her. "Sorry, sometimes the job follows you, even when you're not
on call. I have to go." She waved Kysen back into her seat. "No,
I'm not going home, but in to work so you stay here. Make my
apologies to Vic." She reached out to shake Lady Ess's hand. "Thank
you again for the drinks and the conversation." She smiled at ****kyo.
"It was nice meeting you. Enjoy your evening out."
Making her way - thankfully still steadily despite a number of Pina
Coladas, "on the house" - Fi passed by a tallish man, with long grey
hair. About to give him the smile that years of New York City
clubbing had taught her was polite and friendly without actually
inviting anything, she suddenly reared back, assaulted by a sudden
wave of fear as an image of DOG crossed her mind. Panting slightly
from the surge of adrenaline and still somewhat fighting the urge to
flee, she shook her head. What an odd reaction, that. Reflexively,
she craned her head to gaze at the window ledge where she'd almost
have sworn earlier she'd seen her own cinnamon colored tabby - a
notion, of course, brought on by far too many free drinks. She
offered the man a different smile, far more apologetic and still just
a touch wary before starting past him.
{Tag, Michael, if you like}
******
Central Crime Lab, 22 minutes later.
"Sorry I'm late, it was hell getting a cab," Fi mumured as she entered
her office, unsurprised to find the two detectives already seated in
chairs around her desk. She hung her jacket on the coat tree near the
door and slumped into her chair. "Ok, how bad is this?"
Detectives Dave Glass and Lisa Pendrell shared a glance that made Fi's
blood run cold. If these hardcore detectives hesitated, it went
beyond ugly. In terse factual sentences, they laid out the findings
from Central Park.
And then theorized the tie to the body found in a warehouse in the
Bronx just a few days earlier. And potentially to other abductions,
still unsolved.
"I trust this time, the Scene of Crime boys picked up EVERYTHING?"
Detective Pendrell choked back a smile and shrugged. "I sure hope so,
but we've sealed the site as best as we can. Hard in the Park, you
know."
Fi nodded. An outdoor scene such as they described was in a nearly
perpetual state of contamination. "Well, show me what we've got and
let's see what we can learn."

There was more to this, but it got hung up and I decided to post this
much and let the REST wait until I got out of the corner I'd
