Subject: USS Capricorn: I think I made a wrong turn at Transylvania

Place: Marin System < Castle Marquis

Marquis stood atop the tallest belfry in the Castle. It wasnąt cold,
not
that he would remember what that felt like. In his 654 years, he
hadnąt
felt so cold as he did back during the 8 cycle. It was more than 200
years
ago, but that didnąt matter to him. He needed not the two he normally
kept,
but 6 of his vixens to remind him what warmth felt like that night.

But that was then. He reminded himself, as he snapped his jacket
closed and
jumped off the side, it was the price for immortality. Of course, he
didnąt
mind it so much. Just as much as he didnąt feel the cold, he didnąt
feel
the warmth either. Sweating was a curse for the living. Death was
also the
curse of the living.

And heąd cheated death many times now. Death was not a concern of
his.
Freedom was. Once he found a way off this bloody planet, only then
would he
truly be free of all the trappings...the trappings of life. He would
be
able to explore space for the rest of eternity. His followers would
be free
to live as they so chose. With him or not. He was happy to let them
be as
they so chose. They had followed him for millennia, he owed them that
much.
At this point, all he wanted was his freedom. Of course, even if all
of his
followers left him, if he could get off this place, then he could also
start
anew somewhere else.

Day 4 Midafternoon
Over Ravensdale

Cherry grabbed on tight to S'ran and buried her face against his back
as the dragon lurched slightly as it tele****ted over the town square
of Ravensdale where the villagers were trying to organize. She
loosened her grip as she looked down over her home. She could see
Ryan arguing with her father, and many of the men from the orchard
had gathered in the square and were holding all manner of dangerous
tools. Dalph s****ted a huge axe, and Freddie one of the blacksmith's
big hammers.

Everyone on the ground below looked up as the dragons began appearing
in the sky over Ravensdale, and even from up so high, Cherry could
see the relieved look on her father's face, and then he met her own
eyes and his relieved look turned into a dark scowl, dark as the one
Ryan wore.

S'ran told Jasper to set down so he could talk to the villagers and
find out for sure where the attackers had retreated to. As soon as
the golden-brown dragon was on the ground, Cherry was jumping off
it's back. She slipped and fell to her knees but was up and running
towards Freddie and Ryan and the others, her skirts yanked up out of
the way as she pounded across the square to the dais. S'ran heaved a
sigh and swung down too, then headed towards the men on the dais.
Smashed apple blossom petals littered the ground and the fresh-cut
wood of the dais, and the air was thick with the smell of flowers and
fear.

"Dragonrider, I thank you for coming. My daughter here," The
councilman glanced darkly down at Cherry who gritted her teeth, but
refused to cower, "shouldn't have-." He was cut off as Ryan stepped
up to S'ran.

"There were maybe twenty of them. All armed. They took her and
headed towards the orchards on the sunrise side of town. We can't
let you.the dragons.you can't use fire in the orchards, please, sir.
And they won't stay in there anyway. Us men, we know every inch of
those orchards and they'd be open to anyone coming at them from the
ground. That's what we were planning to do anyway." Several of the
men waved their make****ft weaponry, eager to get out in the fields
and fight the invaders. "There's low hills near the farthest edge of
the orchards though, and there are caves in some of them. We figured
they'd head there."

Cherry pushed between two of the big fellas and reached for S'ran's
hand to drag him back towards the dragon. "I'll show him where,
Ryan." She hauled the big dragonrider back to his dragon, and
managed to pull herself back into the padded spot behind the saddle
before he even got to mount his own dragon.

<Tag all, shall we go see if the bad guys are at the cave. I know
Lawrence won't be there, but he must have left some one in charge,
and I don't think this is going to be a simple hack and bash fight.
*wicked grins*>

Summary: Back at the village, many of the men from the orchard have
armed themselves to go attack the invaders who have made off with the
newly crowned apple blossom queen. One of them lets S'ran know where
they think the invaders may have headed to, and Cherry volunteers to
show the dragonriders the way there.

Subject: [DL-N] Teacher Jocko New cloths JP

Day 4
Afternoon

Just after Link and Jocko left Brezy's office they ran into Dizzi. The
little darkhaired girl looked up at the two men and she gave the tall
courrier a hug.

"Hi Uncle Link." she said with an enthusiastic smile on her face. Link
bent
down and picked the little girl up in his arms. As he straitend up
Dizzi
gave her uncle a peck on the cheek." Where are you going?" she asked.

The tall man just smiled and said "I'm showing Mr. Jocko around so he
can
get to know all your friends here. He's going to be teaching all of
you."

"Ohhhhh!" Dizzi responded. Then she turned to Jocko and held out her
hand
and said," Hello Mr. Jocko. I'm Dizzi."

Jocko took her hand and shook it and said," Hello Ms. Dizzi. I look
forward
to teaching you." With that Link put her down and the ground and they
watched her run off to play.

Then Cloud intruped his thoughts,< We have a problem! do you remember
some
one by the name of Lawrence?>

The tall rider's face went cold." They are still around?" He said out
loud."
There is no way they can be Brona's dead."

<Apparently they have a new leader.>

*Cloud meet me on the green.* Link told his dragon.

Jocko was puzzled but Link took off before he could ask any questions.
He
sighed and rubbed his head as he saw Janine approach." Come one Jocko
Ifound
a shop where you can get some of your own clothes for an change." she
stated
as she grabbed his hand and dragged him toward the shops.

<Cassandra's Shop>

Sara was working on her last order. One for her new friend Brenna. It
was a
skirt that she ordered. Cassandra complained that this skirt was too
short
and a lady shouldn't be wearing something like that. But she fultered
under
her 'awww' and her pout. The two giggled as they saw the old
seamstress
give
in.

The young apprentice looked up when she heard voices coming from out
side.

"Come one Jocko. You can't keep borrowing clothes from me all the
time." she
heard a female voice say.

Janine was outside of Cassandra's shop, pulling a very reluctant Jocko
to
the shop.

"Oh why not?" He pouted and smiled, he was holding on to a post
outside
the
shop.

"Cause they are mine!" She pulled on him hard, using all her weight.

He laughed and let go, they both crashed into the shop. Jocko landing
on
Janine, she quickly pushed him off and looked at the people inside.
"I'm so
sorry!" she turned to Jocko and gave him a shove. Then she turned to
the old
seamstress. "Hi, I'm Janine. He's Jocko."

The seamstress eyed the two. "I'm Cassandra, this is Sara and her
friend
Brenna."

Janine nodded and smiled at the two young ones. "Cassandra, would you
have
anything for him." she pointed over to Jocko.

He stuck his tongue out at her. Then looked to Cassandra. "Sorry if we
are
bothering you ma'am," He picked up his gl***** that had fallen to the
floor.
" but I do need some new cloth. I'll be reading to the kids soon, and
I
can't be looking like this." He pulled on his cloth, that were fairly
old
and had holes and stains in the.

Cassandra giggled a little bit. The old seamstress grabbed Jocko's arm
and
lead him in to the back." I'm sure we can find something, but first we
have
to take some measurments. Sara could you be a dear and take this
gentleman's
measurments."

Sara had just finnished the skirt and handed it to Brenna." OK." she
replied
and hurriedly ran towards the back.

"She's such a hard worker. It's to bad she has a father like Justin."
The
gray haired woman stated with a sigh.

Jocko looked at the seamstress. "What do you mean?"

She looked up at him, and didn't say anything. When Sara got back they
started to take his measurements, he decided not to ask again seeing
as
Sara
was there. The older women and the young women worked quite quick. It
seemed
to only take a minute and they were done.

"Your quite the big boy." Cassandra said as she took a step back.

Jocko turned slightly red in the face.

"Now do you have any color you want?"

He thought for a moment. "No not really, any color really. Well as
long
as
its not pink." He smiled.

The older women laughed a bit. "I wouldn't give a man pink on any
occasion."
She walked over to some fabric she had and started to go though it.
"So
what
are you going to be reading to the children?" She asked him as she
picked up
a piece of cloth and held it up to him.

"I'm not quite sure yet, I'm going to take a bunch of books with me
and let
them pick which one they want." He watched her pick up a few more
different
colors and placed them up to him. He looked down at her with his faint
green
eyes. "So what's wrong with Sara's father?"

"Sara!" Cassandra called out," Could you go out and get me some more
thread?"

"Sure!" came the responce as the heard the young apprentice head out
the
front door.

As soon as Cassandra was sure that Sara was gone she spoke." Well you
see,"
she stated as she continued to work," Justin is an angry man who
believes a
women's place is in the home and would think nothing of using force to
keep
his wife and daughter in line."

"Why hasn't any done anything about it?" Jocko asked," I mean to you
have
any proof?"

The gray haired woman looked up at him and sighed. She shook her
head,"
Their is nothing more that we can do unless we see him hit Sue or
Sara, or
one of them come forward and press charges."

"That's crap," He said as he looked at her. Though his father was mean
he
was never struck, not even whipped. " it shouldn't be like that. Ah,
well
how dose he like her learning?" He asked kinda cocky. "If he thinks
she's
not going to learn, he has another thing coming."

Cassandra chuckled and patted his shoulder." I'm glad you feel that
way but
you do have to be careful. What we are do now we're taking a risk.
Justin
dose not know that Sara is an apprentice here and he dose not even
know the
Sara has be given a chance to be a dragonrider. Right now we are doing
all
we can under warren law and we really can't do more unless...."

The old seamstress was cut off when Sara entered that shop

The conversation about Sara ended. The two worked and the little girl
wrote
down his measurements so they wouldn't have to do it again. The
seamstress
asked Jocko what colors he would prefer and what style of cloth. He
told her
and thanked her. When he went back to the front Janine was already
gone. He
figured should wouldn't stick around. She had to have other things to
do. He
turned and thanks Cassandra again and walked out. Cassandra told him
to come
back later on in the week and she would have some cloth for him.

He walked away from the shop. Thinking on little Sara. That was not
right,
women shouldn't be treated like that. Especially little girls. He
thought on
in for a little bit then his thoughts traveled to the Scrolls that
Breezy
had shown him. He would have to go and take a closer look at them.
