Subject: [DL-N]Ranker's under controll at last.
Day 5 noonish
Breezy's office.
Ranker walks into Breezy's office like he owns the place.
"Hay I just have one thing to say...." Ranker says.
"Hold on one sec. Who do you think you are walking in here like
that?!" Breezy interrupts.
"Sorry. I just want to know if Lorance is dead."
"No the man you killed in your arrogant actions was an impostor. By
the way you wont get away with what you did. You made the warren look
bad...." But before she could finish Ranker walked out the door, and
said.
"I'll find him, no matter what." Then he shut the door, but he heard
her say.
"That's what you think."
Heeding it no mind he continued out the front door where he was met by
five off the warrens guards. They grabbed Ranker chained, and shackled
him, and started to lead him to the prison.
[Kautiv, help their arresting me!]
{Sorry Ranker. After what we did I don't blame them. I wont help. You
must be responsible for what you did, sorry my friend.}
So they took Ranker to his cell. "Here you go, hot shot, hope you
enjoy. There now you wont cause anymore trouble."
NRPG I would have made it worse, but I don't know how ruthless the
warren would be to someone like Ranker. So if they would have laughed
at him, pushed him around, or even whip him please let me know cause I
would like to ad that to this post. Sorry for the way ranker is, and
if I offended anyone with the way I ran this character. I just want
everyone know that this was just a character I wasn't trying to offend
anyone personally.

Day 7
Evening
J'red hadn't been too happy to have his dinner with Ari interrupted,
but
he went quickly to the green when he heard that Gob had brought a
young
woman from town. To find out that he'd gone without permission was
bad
enough, but to suddenly hear that Gob had brought her without even
explaining to her what affinity was or talking to her parents... he
was
almost beyond words.
The girl was obviously afraid that she was in trouble for something
and
he wanted to assure her that it was not her fault in the least. But
first they needed to stop this crowd from gawking.
<*Taken care of, my rider,*> Firefly answered his yet unformed
request.
J'red saw riders in his wing immediately begin to push the crowd back
and break them up. J'red sighed, grateful for a dragon that could
respond so quickly to the needs of those around him. He knew that he
wouldn't be half the Wingleader he was if it weren't for Firefly's
quick
thoughtfulness.
J'red took a deep, steadying breath before approaching the young
woman.
"Miss..."
"Jilly," Gob supplied. "Her name's Jilly."
J'red gave Gob a withering glare that seemed not to affect the lad in
the least. Then he turned back to Jilly and again tried to address
her,
"Miss Jilly, as Gob said, I am J'red, the Beta Wingleader. I'm afraid
that *we* owe you a bit of an explanation. Har'son's saying you have
affinity... be assured it isn't something that we are accusing you of
taking. It is something innate, that you are born with, and Gob here,
should never have brought you to Whiteriver without explaining exactly
what that entails. So, please, if you would come with me and I'll
attempt to explain."
"Gob! You can come and talk to me!" Pav'lo was still fuming. He took
the boy away, lecturing him as they walked.
---
Jilly looked about and saw that the crowd of onlookers was rapidly
dimini****ng. She appeared much more comfortable as she turned back to
look at J'red. As if making a quick decision, that she wasn't
completely sure she should be making, she answered, "All right, if you
could explain it, but then I really must be getting back before my kin
begins to look for me."
J'red smiled with relief, "I promise, Jilly, I myself will take you
back
to your family. But, please hear me out before you make any lasting
decisions -- and it is completely up to you what you decide to do."
The Wingleader escorted the young woman to the dining hall, where he
showed her the cafeteria-style serving line where she could select
something. He only took a hot mug of coffee, having just had dinner
with Ari. They took a seat at a quiet table.
"So, where are you from, Jilly?" J'red asked to begin the
conversation.
She told him about the communal farm that she lived on and about her
kinsfolk. He let her ramble on until she got to when Gob had tricked
her into coming to Whiteriver with him.
"Gob didn't mean any harm," J'red said softly. "He's just well known
for leaping before he looks. Let me try to explain why he acted. You
have what we term 'dragon affinity'. There are some people, like
Har'son whom you just heard confirm what Gob saw, who are able to see
or
sense when someone has this affinity. What is means is that you are
more likely to be chosen by a dragon for joining. Have you ever
thought
about what it might be like to be a dragonrider?"
"Umm... not really," Jilly said, her eyes wide, "But that's what Gob
said. He said that I'd be a dragonrider."
"Only if you wish to be one, Jilly. You do not have to stay here.
But
let me tell you a bit about what it is like to be a dragonrider."
J'red
launched into an explanation that had the girl leaning forward in rapt
attention. "Now, let me take you back to your family, as I promised,
and when we get there, I can talk to them if you wish."
J'red led the girl outside to a large crimson dragon that was waiting
on
the green in front of the dining hall. "This is Firefly," J'red said
in
way of an introduction.
Jilly smiled and said hello with surprisingly no fear, as it was only
the second dragon she'd ever been that close to in her life.
<*I like her, my rider,*> Firefly commented, as Jilly stroked his nose
before climbing up onto his back.
In a moment, Jilly was again airborne, for the second time that night,
and looking down at the warren spread out below her. She saw the
river
glistening in the moonlight, and soft yellow pools of light along what
appeared to be pathways around the large expanse of the green. A few
dragons glided gracefully from rim to green or across the warren. It
was a beautiful sight.
"Firefly has the image from Nightwind, so hold on," J'red said, and
before Jilly could ask what he meant by that the sight below winked
out
and Jilly felt herself being wrenched through a cold darkness.
She gasped as she looked below and saw that Firefly was landing at the
same location that Nightwind had left from only a short time before.
Nothing in the market seemed to have changed. No alarm had been
raised.
Search parties were not out scouring the area for her. In a way it
was
a bit disappointing.
J'red followed the young woman back to the gathering. J'red's bearing
would have made him stand out in the crowd anyway, but in his riding
leathers he was obviously not from around there. People murmured as
they saw the dragonrider walking into their hall.
Jilly led him to an older man, with weathered skin and well worn
hands.
"Da, this is J'red. He's the Beta Wingleader of Whiteriver Warren.
J'red this is my Da, Henry."
[TAG: Bianca...
NRPG: Not sure how you want to play this out, but assuming that Jilly
returns with J'red, you might want to write a catch-up post touching
on
the events of Days 8-11 and her impressions so you are current with
the
other characters.]

As Gob was being led away, Har'son strolled up behind Pav'lo and put
his
hand on the quartermaster's shoulder. "One moment, Pav'lo, before you
go lecturing the boy about leaving without permission..."
Pav'lo turned to Har'son, "Trying to give me advice on responsibility?
You're one to talk!"
Har'son shrugged, "That's a searcher's life. We go when and where we
are led."
"Hmph, your sense of calling is a bit off then, I'm sure there aren't
too many dragonrider candidates in taverns and broth..." Pav'lo
coughed
as he saw Gob watching the exchange. "So, say your piece!"
"Just want to see the boy's potential." Har'son pointed to a few
people
who were strolling by. "Affinity or not?"
Gob turned to see where he was pointing, "Affinity, Affinity, Nope,
None, Nothing, ... no wait... something, maybe."
Har'son raised an eyebrow and looked more closely at the young man
that
was walking away, "You may be right on that one, I hadn't noticed that
before. But, yes... maybe." Then Har'son grinned broadly. "Yup, my
boy, you definitely have the ability."
[NRPG: Eddie, not really a tag, since we're past this in the
timeline,
but just wanted confirmation that Gob can be a searcher.]

Summary:
Day 7
Evening
J'red leaves Ari and a nice intimate dinner when Gob returns from a
country market with a girl whom he claims has dragon affinity.
Finding
out that Gob has taken her without explaining the reason, J'red
invites
Jilly to the dining hall and tells her about what it means to have
dragon affinity and what it is like to be a dragonrider. He then
takes
her back to the market and meets her Da, Henry.
Gob is given a lecture by Pav'lo, but is interrupted by Har'son who
wants to test Gob's ability. He is suitably impressed that Gob can
see
dragon affinity and says so.
