Day 21
Kysen's Place
Mid-Morning

Kysen sat quietly at her desk and with the help of Tanys went through
the
list of those that sent word that they would be at the Gala Event.
Kysen
was excited on one hand and nervous on the other.

She had been to hundreds of these types of affairs and events and
always
enjoyed them immensely. This was the first one she had hosted, and
she was
stunned to learn all the little things that went into throwing one of
these
parties.

Luckily she had Tanys, and Tanys had a team who knew whom to call for
what.
She was also very aware of how expensive this little "charity" event
was
costing, and she vowed to not use any of the funds to cover her
expenses
first, and short-change the charities. She remembered in the old days
from
the reports she had read when she bothered to check them, the cost of
the
event was always taken from the top.

Kysen knew her Board of Directors were going to whine and complain
about not
having all the costs covered. Kysen had already done her
investigating, and
she knew they always dipped their hands in a tad to help cover their
personal expenses. This year she had sent out the memo, to declare if
they
would like to use what they spent as a tax write-off, then that was
allowed,
but ALL of the money was to go to the charities mentioned.

She chuckled softly as she thought of this as she read the list. She
was
very well pleased with the turnout and the contributions were quite
generous. She also noted that the most mysterious Kayn of Haven Corp
had
sent his RSVP. Not that Kysen really knew much about the man; the name
was
infamous. He was a wealthy recluse who never went to such events, and
only
seemed interested in certain types of ventures, and of course his
precious
wolves. Kysen smiled, she had remembered seeing a documentary on his
wolves
and their sanctuaries that he was establishing worldwide.

It was the first time she had ever put her foot down about an issue,
and her
parents had given into her whims and let her choose the charity that
she
would now be responsible for.

It was the first time her parents had spent any true time with her,
and
showed her the ins and outs of handling the contributions. Kysen
always
kept her eye on it and now that she was officially in charge, she had
insisted a raise of the amount of the donation. She had her personal
Corp.
take over the donations, and along with the numerous small
organizations she
had found that promoted the health and wellness of women and children,
Kysen
felt she was on her way to doing that which the Gods wished of her.

Well, that and spending the time learning the lessons and practicing
the
skills that she would need to be able to bind the one who she had
released.
Then she could call the Gods to come and banish him again,
forever-locked in
darkness guarded by the demon of the underworld.

Kysen looked up from the paperwork that was spread before her and
around her
little office and saw Tanys approaching with her mid-morning tea and
light
refreshments.

"Thank you Tanys, you always seem to know just what I want before I
do."
Kysen smiled and complimented.

"It is nothing My Lady, and I thank you for your kind words." She
beamed
with pride.

The two sat and nibbled the snacks and sipped their tea and talked
over all
the little details. With the Gala event just 2 days away, Kysen was
beginning to feel the pressure.

The afternoon was spent in similar fashion; working out and
double-checking
everything, to make sure everything was in order. There could be no
last
minute changes. Today was the deadline to insure all was in order.

Kysen once again marveled at what she would have done without Tanys
and her
team. They were always at least one step ahead of her, and each
detail
perfected and completed.

Kysen found the order for the dresses, and called to arranged for them
to be
delivered to both places. Kysen smiled when she thought how beautiful
Fi
would look in the dress. She was excited with the designer who had
fashioned
hers like one of the ancient Egyptian ones, and it would also suit her
well
for the theme of the opening season of the opera and the masked ball
following.

Lucien had been prowling around much more, and at times she felt as if
he
was a caged animal pacing back and forth waiting for the door to
unlock and
open.
Luckily with all the things to get done, she had been spending most of
her
time in the offices of Isis and working on getting everything in
order.

She wondered just what his job, his duty to her and the organization
was.
Her mentor had told her to follow his council and he would guard and
protect
all that they worked for.

He was not unpleasant to look at. He did not really spend much time
conversing with the other staff, he was friendly and helpful enough,
but he
was quite withdrawn in the social end of things.

Kysen knew she would have to study this out after the ball. She just
did
not have the time or brain space to worry about something she could do
nothing about at this time.

In truth, she had not spoken to him since that incident in the car
when he
had sought her out and returned her to her residence. Something was
going
on, it pulsated in the undercurrents, and Kysen for the life of her
could
not figure it out.

What ever it was, it seemed to affect him deeply. She too could feel
something just out of her line of vision, something dark, tainted with
evil,
lurking in the shadows.

Kysen turned her thoughts back to the task before her. She simply was
amazed that it took all this effort to host a gala event. She smiled
when
she thought back to the ones she went to with her parents.

She would make this one in their memory, and it will be a good one.
How
could it not be? She had scored the social coup of the season! The
illustrious Mr. Kayn of Haven Corp. was personally attending the
festivities. And Tanys has said earlier that the CEO of Winthrop Corp
was
also attending.

Yes, this was going to be the best Gala Event in years.

NRPG- just moving the story along and setting up for the plot twists.
Just a reminder that the Gala Event, Masked Ball is 2 days away!

[Summary]

Kysen spends the day with her assistant Tanys working through the last
minute details before the Premiere Charity Event and Masked Ball.
