 [WW-Wod-WEB] A Late Night Affair

Scene: Alex's apartment, Day 21, Evening
"Alorian?" Alex was surprised to see Alorian on his doorstep ... well,
apartment hallway. "Is everything ok?"
She nodded and walked past him into his apartment. "We need to talk."
"Well, I'm so glad you could drop by after all this time. Oh, where are
my
manners, please, come on in." He said in a mocking tone as she tossed
her
handbag onto a chair.
She gave him a hard glare as he closed the door. "This is serious."
"It's always serious with you, Alorian." Alex said in a tired tone,
this
point had been well debated in the past. He paused as he saw the look
in her
eye. Usually it was anger when he took this kind of tone with her, but
this
time ...
"Hey, something really is the matter." He said with concern. "Want a
coffee,
or maybe something harder?" He snatched two empty beer bottles off the
coffee table and headed for the kitchenette.
She followed him in, shaking her head slightly as she went. "I don't
need
anything." She watched as he deposited the empty bottled in the
recycling
bin and then turned to her. She caught his gaze and her own softened
slightly. After a moment she ran a hand through her hair and her whole
body
relaxed slightly.
"I'm sorry I don't come around as much." Her gaze was fixed on a point
on
the floor near his foot.
"Wow, this is serious." Alex said, instantly regretting his teasing
tone. He
cleared his throat and stepped towards her. "Hey, sorry, it's just I'm
a bit
surprised. I mean, it's been a long time since you've knocked on my
door.
C'mon." He said, taking her hand and leading her to the sofa. He let go
after a moment's hesitation. "So what's on your mind." He said, taking
a
seat.
Alorian looked to him again. Her gaze was guarded, but less so than
usual.
She had come with a purpose, but seeing him again, just being near
him....
"I want you to know that I don't take you, or anything about you or my
relation****p with you for granted. I don't think of you like some
others
do." She reached for his hand, tentative at first, carefully wrapping
her
fingers around his own. "When I saw you the other day I wanted.....and
then
you just left." She looked away, taking a breath. "I didn't want you to
go."

There was a brief silence. "Well," Alex began, licking his suddenly dry
lips, "To be honest, I didn't really want to go. But ... I knew that
Michael
had given you some job to do, and I know how dedicated you get when on
assignment. I ... I just didn't want to get in the middle of that
again."
She just nodded. "There is a lot....with the missing girl and now this
new.." She looked back to him. "I need your help Alex." Her fingers
tightened on his hand. "I need you to watch my back. I am getting into
something dangerous and I need to know I have someone I can trust
watching
out for me, just in case." She relaxed her grip on his hand, but not
her
gaze from his face.
"You are the only person I trust."
Alex looked into her blue eyes. God, how he had missed looking into
those
eyes. He could see them quiver with emotion, and he knew that she was
telling him the truth. He squeezed her hand back. "Okay." He said in a
whisper.
And then, without a thought, he leaned over and kissed her.
Her hand tightened on his again as she kissed him back. As the kiss
broke
and she pulled back Alorian sighed inwardly. She was worried she'd lost
something im****tant to her. Something more im****tant than she would
ever
admit to herself or anyone else. She looked at Alex again. "There is
someone
new hanging around. Well perhaps not new to you, but new to me. His
name is
Kayn. Do you know him?"
"I think I need a drink." Alex said, getting up and giving himself a
moment
to compose himself. Why the hell did he do that? He wished for the
umpteenth
time that he could understand women.
"Cain?" He asked, scanning the bottles of liquor on the counter set
between
the kitchenette and main living space. "Like in the bible?" Vodka. Yes,
that
would do.
"No." Alorian chastised. She wished for the umpteenth time that he
could
stay serious for more than five minutes. "He's a ****fter."
Alex poured a shot and downed it before pouring another. "A garou? Not
anyone I've ever heard of. I mean, there's the old legend about a Kayn,
but
other than that ... Sure you don't want anything?" He asked, proffering
the
bottle of vodka.
She stood and went to him, taking the alcohol from his hand. "I need
you to
tell me what you know about the legend." She set the bottle down and
picked
up the shot, offering it to him. "I need to know everything."
"Don't really know the story. Dominca would be a better one for that."
He
took a sip this time, though he found that it wasn't really mellowing
him
out. He took a deep breath, inhaling her scent, and closed his eyes
momentarily. He let out the breath with a sigh. "From what I remember,
he's
some old world Garou that got his whole pack killed for his own petty
vengeance or something, and Gaia came to him and cursed him. Now he's
supposed to be wandering the world, watching all those around him die
while
he continues to live on and on. Ask me, he sounds more like a Leech
than a
Garou." He paused. "You're thinking that this guy is the one from the
story?"
"He says he is." She looked thoughtful as she took the shot glass from
him,
sipping it. She winced at the taste and wrinkled her nose. 'Ugh. How
can you
drink that?"
"A little taste of home." Alex said with a grin.
"Alex, vodka is Russian in origin. You were born here in New York
City."
Alex shrugged. "Ehh, close enough." He put the bottle back and turned
back
to her as a thought struck him. "Wait a minute, you've met this guy?"
She nodded. "He found me on my rooftop tonight, and got into my
apartment
somehow." She chewed her bottom lip thoughtfully, still trying to
figure how
he had gotten into her place.
"He knew I was looking for him and he found me, I guess." She looked
back to
Alex. "Why?"
"This is serious, Princess." Alex replied. "I mean, this guy is just a
story
to frighten young pups into being loyal to the pack. If some wacko
thinks
he's Kayn, and then is breaking into your apartment ..." Alorian could
see
the rage building within him, but he stopped to calm himself.
"Well, it's clear you're going to have to stay here until this blows
over.
Who knows what this guy will do the next time he shows up." He paused
again
and looked at Alorian, frustration evident on his face. "Dammit,
Alorian,
you keep throwing curveballs at me. What do you mean you're looking for
him?"
She raised an eyebrow, remaining calm. "Stay here? You think your
place is
more secure than mine." She waved her hand at his expression. "I'll
think
about it." Then she proceeded to tell Alex about the company Michael
had
told her about, and Kayn's connection. She moved back to sit as she
was
talking. When she was done she leaned her head back with a sigh and
closed
her eyes. It was getting to be a long day.
"Damn Michael and his political maneuverings." Alex fumed, pacing back
and
forth. "Now you see why I want to keep my nose out of all that?
Christ." He
stopped his pacing and looked at her as she leaned back on the couch.
"And you accepted it!" He said in amazement, then shook his head. "Of
course
you did. Loyalty to the pack and all, I know, I know." He sat down
heavily
beside Alorian, still fuming. "I'll kill Michael the next time I see
him,
for putting you in such a deadly situation."
"I can take care of myself," she replied automatically. Inside tho she
was
starting to grow concerned. It was not often that Alex was worried
about
her. He knew very well that she could take care of herself. It was
the
main reason why she had been so distant from him recently. She did not
want
to pull his life into some of the dangerous situations she had been
involved
in more recently. It occurred to her that this was probably one of
those
times when she should have not asked for his help, if only to protect
him.
She stood.
"I probably should not have said anything, now that I think on it." Her
mind
raced with how to back out of this. "I will go back to Michael and as
him
to assign an extra person to watch my place. That should be fine." She
glanced to Alex, though she couldn't bring herself to really look at
him.
"I'm sorry I bothered you at such a late hour." She turned on her heel
to
head for the door.
In three steps he had caught her arm and turned her around to face him.
"No
running away this time, Princess." Alex said firmly. "You do this all
the
time. You come to me, and then get cold feet and scamper off, leaving
me
wondering what the heck is going on. Well, it's not going to work this
time."
He realized that he was still holding her arm fiercely, and let go.
"Look,
you said that you needed someone you could trust, and you came to me.
Well,
trust you own instincts for once, and trust me. I may not seem like the
most
dependable person, but you of anyone knows me best, and you know that I
will
do what I can for you, or die trying."
She looked up into his face reaching to touch his cheek. "That's
exactly
what I am worried about. I don't want to put you in danger. I...I
can't."
She pulled back and turned away. She could feel her throat growing
tight
with emotion.
Alex reached back out for her and pulled her back to him. "Dammit,
would you
stop being the martyr! I'm here for you, I've always been here for
you." He
stopped himself, suppressing the urge to try and shake some sense into
her.
"Logically, I'm more likely to make it through any rough stuff than you
are.
So what is it that you are really afraid of?"
She ****vered, despite the warmth of him against her. "You are always
here,
even if we never see each other. I know that if I come over, or call
you
and tell you I need you that you'll be here. I don't know what I would
do
if you were not." She winced, hating the weakness she felt. She should
never be so dependent on one person, she knew that. But in that
moment,
with him so close, she was tired of being the strong one. She leaned
back
into him, pulling his arms around her.
"Can I stay?"
He hugged her warmly, and kissed her right temple. "I said so, didn't
I?"
She turned around in his arms, and nodded.
"Good. Now, I have some Chinese food I can heat up, a cappuccino
machine
that works most of the time, and I still have that oversized sweater
you're
so fond of. What say we take a time out for now and relax, get some
food
into us, and then see what I can do for you?" He winked at her and
smiled.
Alorian smiled and leaned close, pressing her lips lightly to his.
"What
would I do without you," she whispered against his lips. Alex just
smiled.
"Well I am going to take a shower and change while you heat up food."
She
kissed him once more and then headed for his shower.
Alex gazed after her, then turned to the kitchen. The food would be
simple
enough. Turn the oven on low and slip in the tin-foil dishes. Coffee
could
wait until after they had eaten. He heard the shower go on as he went
into
his bedroom. After a bit of searching, he found the sweater and some
other
clothes, then found himself pausing outside the washroom.
It had been a long time since they had been together, and she seemed to
be
running hot and cold with him tonight. He scratched his head in
consternation, wi****ng he could figure her out. "Dammit," he cursed
under
his breath, "I'm a chosen warrior of Gaia, and I'm getting butterflies
in my
stomach over this?"
With newfound courage, he cracked open the door and slipped in. He
admired
Alorian's silhouette through the frosted glass of the shower door as he
placed the clothes down. "Need any help?" He quipped.
Alorian smiled and turned to rise the soap from her hair. "I might
become a
bit cleaner with an extra pair of hands," she answered him.
Alex smiled to himself, surprised and pleased at her answer. Pulling
his
****rt over his head, he quickly undressed, and popped open the shower
door.
Alorian, leaning back to wash her hair, lowered her head and gave a
slight
smile, sizing up the man before her. His body was fit and trim, with
well-defined muscles. His dark eyes danced and he grinned and lifted up
the
soap. "Turn around."
Alorian complied as Alex pulled her back towards him before his
lathered
hands began soaping her lower back. She reached back and pulled her
hair
over her shoulder, baring her back to him. "The back, I find, is always
the
hardest to get at." He said, leaning over to speak into her ear as his
hands
rubbed their way up her spine.
Alex pulled back to massage her neck and shoulders, feeling a knot of
tension at the base of her neck. Alorian moaned appreciably as he
worked out
the tension. "You work yourself too hard, Princess." His hands s****d
down
her back, massaging down to the small of her back. His hands moved to
her
sides, and she grinned as he caressed her hips, an odd fascination of
his.
The soap and hands soon glided across her stomach, and Alex pulled her
back
even more to press up against him.
His hands caressed tantalizingly slow as they moved up her body. She
rubbed
herself against him, enjoying the feel of his body pressed against
hers. She
could feel his excitement growing as he responded in kind, pu****ng
against
her. He cupped her breasts, giving them a playful squeeze. A hand
s****d
back down her stomach and between her legs. Alorian parted her legs
slightly
and moaned as warm fingers caressed her.
Alorian leaned her head back, arms reaching for him as she pulled his
head
towards hers. They kissed deeply, his hands running up and down her
body.
Slowly she turned in his arms, gasping for breath as they broke their
kiss.
Alex placed her up against the wall, pressing himself against her as
they
kissed again, tongues gliding over each other. The broke their kiss and
she
pushed him back. "Protection." She said hoarsely, disappointment
evident in
her tone.
Alex grinned, however, and reached behind a grouping of shampoo
bottles. He
flashed the small packet and Alorian laughed. She remembered now that
after
their first shower together, Alex always made sure he was prepared. She
snatched it from him with a wicked grin of her own.
They kissed again, and hands caressed her as she placed the condom on
him.
Alex continued to caress and tease her until she all but pulled him
into
her. His arms wrapped around her to hold her, while she s****d a leg
around
his. The tiles felt cool on her back, but her front was warmed by the
press
of his body against her.
She clung to him, her fingers digging into his back as their pace
quickened.
Small gasps escaped both of them. Alorian felt herself tighten around
him as
her body tensed. A moment later her senses were awash with pleasure as
they
climaxed.
The thrum of water against them brought them back to reality. "I'm glad
you
decided to pop by." Alex said with a grin.
Alorian grinned back, breathless. "I dunno how much cleaner I am
though,"
she teased him before pulling him in for another kiss. Her fingers ran
through his wet hair and down over his back, holding him close as they
kissed. Then, suddenly, her stomach growled. They both looked down and
laughed. Alex reached to turn off the water in the shower and then
pulled
Alorian out and wrapped her in a towel.
Together they dried and dressed again, then headed to the kitchenette.
Sweet and savory smells washed over them, and Alex's stomach made a
growl of
its own. "Gourmet dining at its finest." He joked, spooning out the
reheated
food. Soon, they were seated and eating.
After a few bites, Alex paused to sip at a beer. "So, let me see if I
got it
all straight. There's a missing girl kinfolk. The baddies were found
killed,
but no trace of the girl. Michael thinks that this Kayn guy may be
involved,
and since he's a wolf, figured you might be able to get close enough to
him
to find out if he had anything to do with the kidnapping. Kayn found
out
about you, broke into your apartment, and you had your little
tete-a-tete
with him before coming to me."
"Well we talked on the roof first, then he broke into my apartment."
She
looked thoughtful as she pushed her food around with a chopstick. "I'm
supposed to go with him somewhere, though he never said where, to
follow up
on an idea he has about how to get information about the missing girl.
Tomorrow night." She glanced back to Alex and pushed a wet lock of hair
form
her face.
"It might be a good plan for you to be around then."
"You've got that right." Alex readily agreed, taking another swig from
his
beer. "Don't you worry, Princess, I'll make sure you're safe."
Alorian studied him for a long moment, her face tense with emotion.
"And who
will make sure that you're safe." She didn't add that she was the one
that
normally did that. Instead she pushed her plate away and stood with
her
beer. She paced out to the living room, seeming more worried than
before.
He came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. "Right now,
you're
the one who's in danger. This guy doesn't know who I am, so he has no
reason
to be on the lookout for me. Let me do the worrying on this one, and
you can
have the honors next time." He nuzzled and kissed her neck, attempting
to
lighten her mood.
Alorian smiled and snuggled back against him. "I'll try," she said
softly.
In her mind she knew it would not be so easy. She turned in his arms
and
pulled him close, kissing him fiercely.
He grinned after their kiss. "Hmm, well, let's see if I can help in
that
regard." He said slyly, and toppled the two of them onto the couch with
a
hearty laugh. "It's good to have you back, Princess."

I know that if I come over, or call
you and
tell you I need you that you'll be here. I don't know what I would do
if you
were not." She winced, hating the weakness she felt. She should never
be so
dependent on one person, she knew that. But in that moment, with him so
close, she was tired of being the strong one. She leaned back into him,
pulling his arms around her.
Instead she pushed her plate away and stood with her
