Day 15

Late Evening
Josie's Flat

[SNIP]

Nicky was not happy to leave her, but sensing she was dealing with some

family issue once again, agreed to step back and allow her the space
she
needed. He had learned there was a fine line to hovering with her, and
this
was not the time to push it. She would clam up and disappear for a few
days
and the waiting for her to contact him would be unbearable.

He hugged her once again and stepped back letting her smile at him as
she
closed the door.

[END SNIP]

Nick waited while she closed the door and he heard the latch lock. He
stood
there for a moment and pondered just what he should do. Max's call was

vague, but alarming. She had returned from a meeting in tears and
signed
herself out and gone home.

Now he had seen her first hand, and knew she was alright. He walked
slowly
down the front steps, and every once in awhile he glanced up to her
window.
He had the distinct feeling he was being watched, and who ever was in
there
with her, did not wish him to be.

Nick walked back to his car and got in and sat there for a bit
pondering his
next move. She was very important to him, and he had not realized how
close
they had become. He would do anything to make sure she was safe and
protected.

He reflected back to the night of the family dance and how beautiful
she
looked under the stars and the lantern light. He also remembered
someone.or
thing was attempting to lure her away from her family and he would not
allow
that. No, she had awakened some old interest in her mother, and he
worried
for her safety.

Deciding he was not going to leave her alone with whomever it was, Nick

settled in and made himself comfortable and waited. Who ever this was
would
not be there long, and once he was gone Nick would attend to his little
one
