Subject: [DL-D] A Little Girl Talk
Day 104
Late Afternoon
Green
Weya stood and listened to all that Akety spoke of, and she also
watched as
the huge dark haired man seemed to coach her. Many of the things Akety
had
spoken of, she had heard from Dante, during some of their random chats
and
talks.
Weya was torn at this time to whether or not she wanted a Dragon. Part
of
her wished for one so she too could soar with the winds and enjoy the
freedom that both Jacks and Dante had shown her. On the other hand,
she
could not imagine feeling any stronger for another Dragon as she did
for
Jacks.
She too had many questions, but hearing those asked Weya realized it
was not
the time for hers. When she saw the blacksmith glance over the group
and
focus on something else behind she nonchalantly turned to see what it
was he
was so interested in. Not seeing anything in particular she turned her
interest back to the lesson at hand.
She smiled as the lesson was over and the happy voices of those who
still
had no true clue to what they were embarking on stumbled away breaking
up
into their smaller groups and it appeared they were all headed for the
Dining Hall.
[SNIP]
Akety turned from saying goodbye to Alexi and she saw Weya standing
where
everyone had been. She looked so strong and unafraid of the world.
Akety
walked over to her wondering what she was still doing here, it was
getting
late.
"Weya, what are you still doing here? Do you need anything?"
[END SNIP]
Weya smiled softly and nodded. She approached this woman, this person
who
shared a bond with Dante that she could never. She was happy he had
found
her, and she him. Weya was also aware there were still some small bits
of
misgivings between them, and altho Weya usually did not let those types
of
things to bother her, she did not quite know how to get around them
either.
"Well, I do have a few questions." Weya spoke up softly so that no one
else
would hear, and perhaps wish to stay around and listen too. Weya was
not
sure just how she would bring up this very delicate subject.
For on one hand, she did not wish to bring back the horror that she had
suffered. She did not also wish to let Dante know that she was
suffering
these night terrors. She had hoped that Akety held the key to figuring
out
what caused them, and better yet, how she had managed to keep them from
returning.
Weya was confused because she remembered it was because of Akety's bond
to
her Dragon that had given those creatures a way in. Weya had NO
Dragon.
Were these night terrors sent to her from the one she sensed who
watched her
through the dark magics of her people? She did not know enough of such
things to even begin to figure out a way to ward him off. So, she
hoped
that for some reason those creatures were the ones causing this and if
so,
then she hoped that Akety could help.
But.would she help her without telling her brother? Weya did not wish
to
add to Dante's burden, he had way too much on his plate. She did not
want
this to come between them, and take away from the little special time
they
had already.
"Would you like to take a walk with me then?"
Weya nodded her head. Both of them started off walking the edge of the
Green; Weya asking questions about dragons and their care. Though
while she
asked the questions she tried to figure out how to talk about what she
wanted to know.
Akety listened to her and watched her and knew she was either dying to
ask a
certain question or something was heavily on her mind.
"Weya, I know you wanted to ask me something.but; there is something I
must
ask you, and tell you." Akety rushed to get her thoughts out first.
She
looked at Weya and studied her, slowly feeling fear encroaching upon
her
thoughts and creeping from the back of her mind.
Weya stopped and faced Akety and knew she either knew something or was
afraid of something. She wondered if it had something to do with Dante
and
perhaps she was now ready to speak of how she truly felt concerning her
and
Dante being together.
"First, I'm sorry for being so mean about the stuff that happened with
Solthan. I never really meant to say anything nasty to you or about
you. I
was just so afraid." Akety confessed quickly as if she needed to get it
all
out.
Weya smiled at her and shook her head like it had not been a big deal.
It
really wasn't, not to Weya's way of thinking, she was glad that somehow
the
uneasiness she felt that was between them was going to disappear, and
that
would just make Dante happier, and that really was what was important
to
her.
"I do like you, Weya." Akety replied. "You are really great, and Dante
talks very highly of you. You have done so much for him." She gushed
out
again. She was still not sure just how Weya was taking this all in. She
always seemed so confident, and sure of herself. She stood there
studying
her and it was making Akety nervous.
"I know Dante likes you a lot." Akety spoke up. "Well, like is not the
word. Loves you a lot." She looked up to Weya.
"Do you love him too?" She asked hopingly. "If you do or if you don't,
I
won't tell him either way."
Weya blinked in astonishment. She was prepared for many questions, but
somehow that one was not one of them. She opened her mouth to give her
answer, and stopped and shut her mouth.
The question that Akety asked was a powerful one, and Weya knew and
understood the seriousness of such a statement. She seemed to ease the
path
of the question with the declaration of how Dante felt.
Dante loved her? She smiled at that thought, but then he had not
declared
such a thing to her, his sister had. She wondered if perhaps Dante had
asked her to search out how she felt, before he declared his feelings.
HOW did she feel? She cared deeply for Dante, and would do all in her
power
and strength to keep him happy and safe. She had grown into their
relationship, and she enjoyed the special times they shared. She had
grown
to depend on him. She had hoped when they still lived back in the cave
that
he would find it hard to leave her come spring.
Now both of their lives had forever changed. Weya did feel like a fish
out
of water here among his people. Their ways and practices were so
foreign to
her, and yet she had to admit she enjoyed watching them. Weya had
gotten
use to having others around her, and she was not foolish to suppose it
would
be easy to return to her solitary way of life.
Akety watched Weya stand quietly and it did appear she was thinking
over
what she had just said. It un-nerved her to stand and watch Weya work
through her thoughts when all she wanted to hear was an excited YES.
"I do care deeply for Dante." Weya confessed to his sister. "I be glad
there is no ill will between us, for that has saddened me, and I did
not
know what I had done ta cause such breach between ya two." Weya
reached out
and touched her arm to show she did not harbor any ill will or bad
feelings.
"I must confess I have never thought about the possibility of love
between
us." She whispered to his sister. "I had dared not hope for such a
thing."
She smiled impishly at Akety.
"Dante loves me?" she asked again with a hint of excitement and
wonderment.
"He told ya this?" she asked.
Akety's face turned red. OH NO! The little brunette had just
remembered she
was not to say anything.
"Oh Weya, you can't tell him I told you. He said he was going to do
something special to let you know." She looked at her. "Don't let him
know,
ok?"
Weya listened to her pleas and found herself smiling. "I will allow
him ta
speak his feelin's for me." She watched the play of emotions across
the
petite brunette's features. "It will be our little secret." Weya
consoled.
Akety smiled. "Thanks." She felt the worry lift right off her
shoulders.
Now, you said you had a question. I know you know almost everything
about
dragons from Dante..so what do you want to talk to me about?"
Weya swallowed and tried to clear her head. The thoughts of what Akety
had
just confessed left Weya with such swirling feelings, thoughts and she
felt
almost dizzy with the sudden need to sit down, for her knees appeared
to be
weak. On the other hand, she wanted to jump and shout and giggle and
be
silly. What were these strange feelings?
"Well, I . . .I don't wish ta upset ya or anything. . ." Weya stumbled
through her jumbled thoughts and pushed the new feelings that seemed to
jump
to the front of her mind bringing chaos and confusion.
Akety watched in amazement as she witnessed Weya being so confused and
befuddled.
She smiled at her, hoping that would reassure her, and she would
continue.
Akety was very curious what Weya wished to know.
"Upset me how?" Akety asked sincerely, and wondered just where this was
going.
"Well, I know for a time, when we first got here, ya were havin theses
terrible dreams." Weya answered, emboldened for a moment. "And I know
that
somehow you stopped them."
Akety studied her and wondered just where was this leading? "Yes,
thanks to
S'than and another, he is a dream walker."
"Dream walker?" Weya asked. "I have heard of those who can walk
through
dreams, and also in the spirit world."
"Why do you ask Weya?" Akety asked her voice showing her concern.
"Dante spoke to me of it, and with what is goin on.." Weya stopped. She
needed to find the solution without drawing attention to her. She
needed to
find a way to stop her night terrors, and try to discover, just who or
what
it was. Weya was filled with so many questions, and she did not wish
to
worry Dante any more that he already was.
"Just wondered how ya got yours ta stop." She replied softly. "I guess
I
was wondering what caused it in the first place, and if there was a
solution
to it." Weya answered.
"Well, the dream walker helped, but also the dragons." Akety smiled in
memory of how the dragons banded together to help her with the
horrifying
nightmares. To have and enjoy such a simple thing as a good nights
sleep.
"Ah, so as long as you are near other dragons, then you are safe?" Weya
asked; a relief in her voice evident with this piece of information.
Akety smiled as she heard the relief in her voice. She had not
realized
that Weya had been worried about such things. She hadn't really
thought
much about her, other than she was with Dante, she was..different, and
she
was now a part of his life.
"Everything is ok with me, and with that." Akety consoled her. "What
happened is in the past, and I am ok."
Weya smiled and nodded. "I am glad, I know Dante was worried, and
spoke ta
me of it a lot, I was just..wonderin." Weya flashed a smile and hugged
her.
She was glad she was ok; she was glad that she suffered no more from
those
demons.
Akety accepted the hug but thought on what Weya had just asked her.
She was
just 'wondering'?
"Well, you make to tell that brother of mine that he has no need to
worry
about me." She smiled. "Now, do you have anything else you wish to
ask?"
She asked looking at Weya. She smiled mischievously at her. "I'm
pretty
sure I'm done telling secrets."
Weya laughed and nodded. "I be thinkin that be about it." Weya replied,
altho inside she was a bundle of questions. A Dream Walker? How did
she
find this person? How was she to go to them, and ask for help without
knowing who they were? Or without bringing attention to herself?
"I be glad ya be ok." Weya confessed sincerely. "I do know Dante has
been
worried for thy health and safety." Weya studied her as they ambled
across
the Green in the direction of the Dining Hall.
"I can't wait to enjoy more of thy lessons, and I see ya have a new
instructor as well." Weya smiled and hinted towards the one everyone
referred to as the Blacksmith. Dark and brooding as he was, he did
have
that certain something that made him stand out to the other females.
"Lexi?" Akety asked when she figured out just what Weya was referring
to.
She laughed easily and chuckled warmly.
"Nah, it is not like that." Akety explained. "We are friends, and
well, he
has offered to help me with this new assignment, but he is also helping
me
learn more about being a true Dragonrider."
Weya nodded and took in this new piece of information. She had seen
them,
watched them, and so that put that piece in that place of the puzzle.
Still, there was something going on in the Warren, something right
under the
nose of everyone.
Weya wished she understood more of the way the Warren worked and
operated.
Having not spent a lot of time in a village, she had not the skills to
know
when something was out of place, and not just right. She was missing
something, and she could not, nor would she say anything until she was
sure.
That they were being watch was a known fact. Weya had stumbled upon
certain
tracks that did not belong here. She was a watcher, and so she made it
her
place to know things of this nature. She had seen a figure here or
there,
just as they were blending into the shadows, and the feeling they left
behind was not one of comfort or peace, but more of trying to hide
something
in plain sight.
The fear that Weya had was that she was the target of the watchings.
She
had seen those dark ominous eyes watching her from the edge of her
sleep. IF
she was indeed the main target for those eyes, then she did not know
how to
fight such powerful magics. This was the dark magics of her people,
and she
had not a clue of how to go about to ward it off.
The other possibility was one of greater worry, which was somehow those
creatures had found a way in and haunted her. Again, why? And better
yet.how? She had no dragon that gave them an in.
Why was no one else seemingly suffering from these random night
terrors?
Was this part of the key to unraveling such mysteries?
Weya was pulled from her thoughts when she realized that Akety had
stopped
in front of the Dining Hall.
"Wanna join me?" Akety asked cheerfully. It would be nice to sit and
stretch
out this conversation, and perhaps Weya would warm up a bit and really
tell
her what she wanted to know.
Weya hesitated and with the look on Akety's face smiled and nodded.
"Sure,
I would like that." She replied. It was true, she did have to eat
something, and she hated to be alone. With Dante off on patrol, she
would
have just gone back to the barracks and nibbled on some of her was`na
and
try to catch some sleep.
Akety smiled and the two turned to go in. Akety was glad she has said
yes,
for maybe this would be fun, and she could introduce her to some of the
others. Maybe this is what she needed, a way to meet all the riders
and get
to know them.
[TAG - Arle is you wish to have Sharees sit and chat with Weya and
perhaps
talk over leather crafting? Anyone else who wishes to stop and chat
with
the 2 girls.]
[SUMMARY]
Weya listens to the instruction of the trainees and sees that Akety has
a
helper. After the lesson is over, Akety asks Weya if she has a
question.
Before Weya can respond, Akety blurts out a secret she knows from
Dante.
They speak lightly of the secret and then Weya asks her a few
questions, but
mainly about her past haunting. Akety tells her how she was rid of
them and
both ponder things the other has said. As they make their way towards
the
Dining Hall Akety asks Weya to join her for a meal. Weya accepts.

Transporter Room
[SNIP]
"Commander!" the com link spoke up clearer now. The surprise in the
voice
on the other end was evident to all who could hear it. "Everything
alright?"
"Yes, Ensign." Commander Phillips responded.
Miaren felt the transporting before she saw the lights or heard the
sound.
She felt her stomach lurch and her knees grow week.
[END SNIP]
Within the next seconds the transporter room came into focus and Miaren
felt
her knees go and somehow before she hit the floor a pair a hands caught
her
and helped her steady herself.
She really hated transporters. She really did, and no matter how many
times
she used one, it was always the same. She was just glad she had not
done
what she usually did, which was succumb to the turmoil of her stomach
and
then to empty its contents.
She smiled sheepishly up at the officer holding her up and his grim
look did
not bode well with her feeling of sudden impending doom.
She looked over to the First Officer and she was barking orders, and
being
told they were needed in Sick Bay.
Sick Bay? Miaren wondered. Why? She was fine..well except for the
flip
flops her tummy was making, but a nice walk and some deep breaths and
she
would be fine.
She once again fell into line behind Commander Phillips and with their
escort followed them down the hallways and made their way to Medical.
Miaren could not understand all the well wishes and congratulations for
having returned safely. Why would they not? Miaren just did not
understand
what all the fuss was. Although she did not think going with the
Marquis
had been a wise choice, it did turn out fine, and they were able to
gather
so much evidence, and learn so much more than they had before.
With her mind turned on the outcomes of all the findings on her samples
she
had sent back she began to formulate theories on just what they were
dealing
with.
She was glad she had somehow sent off the first batch. With the second
she
had collected before stepping into the castle, and them losing all
communication, she was sure her team, Istria and her team would have
had a
good start on the testing, and with what she remembered from their
conversations she would be able to really show Istria that there had
indeed
been some sort of cover up. Although at this point, she was not clear
on
just what it was.
As they entered Medical they were whisked each to an examination room,
and
although Miaren knew what to expect, it was a rather un-nerving
experience
for her, since she had never been the one examined before.
After the poking, prodding, the skin, hair and soft tissue scrapings
had
been done, she then went into the special shower to disinfect her and
make
sure she carried nothing back from the planet that would infect the
rest of
the ship.
The attendants were nice and Miaren wished they would chat or say
something,
and made a mental note, that perhaps some conversation might be good,
to at
least help the patient not seen so alone and isolated with the process.
[TAG- Tree IF you wish to have Montana go thru the exam and then

Debriefing Room

When the showering had been completed she was given a soft robe and led
into
a room. Waiting for her was Captain Avi and another she was not sure
who he
was. There was also a tray of food for her to eat and a warm beverage.
"Please sit and relax Dr." Avi commented. "This is an informal
meeting, and
one to get your first responses on the mission you just returned from,
and
also for me to make sure you are alright."
Miaren nodded silently in response, although she could tell the Captain
appeared to be rather upset..or perhaps nervous..worried? Miaren took
the
mug of warm liquid and sipped it. It was just like she liked it. She
closed
her eyes for a brief moment to savor the flavor and taste of it in her
mouth, bringing with it a sense of calm and sense of safety.
Safety? Now where had that come from? She was never in danger. She
looked
into the 2 faces of the men who sat before her and they seem to be
waiting.
Waiting for what? Miaren had nothing to really say. They were the
ones who
had questions. She just wanted to go to her lab and begin the tests
and
find the answers for Istria.
"What do you remember first Dr.?" The Science officer asked her. He
was
fascinated with all the different pieces of information and facts that
he
had been given already, he hoped that the Dr would give him even more
to
help tie in the other pieces.
"Feeling dizzy and sick." Miaren answered simply. Well, it was true,
and
she had no clue to why she just admitted it to them.
"Interesting" he answered and jotted a few things down. "And what made
you
feel like that do you suppose?"
Avi sat quietly for this part of the interview. He was very glad that
both
women had returned, but curious as to why they did not seem to overly
concern with the other half of their team. So far it appeared that 4
were
missing, 4 known dead, and 6 injured.
Not a good beginning for a simple mission. Avi returned his focus to
the
doctor's answers. Perhaps the answers were there.
"The transporter always makes me sick." She admitted shyly and missed
the
soft chuckle of the captain.
"What do you remember next?" Avi spoke up trying to help her get to
where
they wished her to be.
"Oh, well I had taken readings on the entire away team so I could
compare it
with the later findings and scannings of the team. I wanted a base
reading
on the ship, and then one when they first landed, and then during
intervals
and under duress or any exertion."
"Very good Dr, and where are these tests and findings?" the science
officer
asked.
"Well, they should be here, I sent them to the ship before..." Miaren
replied as her sentence fell away.
"Before what?" Avi asked as gently as he could. He too wanted to know
just
what happened, and why Montana had felt it was necessary to take her
and the
young Dr and a small hand full of security off into the jungle.
"Before he showed up." Miaren answered. "The Marquis." She finished
her
thought. "It was rather strange if ya ask me." She added.
"Strange how?" the Science officer interjected. For he too was
interested;
so many different samples and test readings had come in, and nothing
really
made any sense.
"Well, nothing seemed right, if you know what I mean. Like we were
being
watched, only nothing registered on the tricorder." She explained.
"Anything else?"
"Well, then this man shows up, and he welcomed us to his world and
began to
speak with Commander Phillips. It appeared to me that many of the team
reacted to his words."
"Explain?" Avi asked leaning up in his chair. Montana had not mentioned
this
to him.
"I can't, not really, I mean part of me wanted to follow him and do as
he
said, and part of me felt something deadly wrong, and tis why I sent
off the
first batch of findings, so we would have something."
"You said you felt as though you were being watched." Avi began, trying
to
work this scenario and the order of events out in his mind.
"Aye, but every time I tried to pin point this, by scanning for any
sort of
life forms, I got a negative reading." She answered. "It was then that
I
noticed little things; that just did not add up from what I had been
given
as a base. Tis why I took as many samples as I did, why I recorded
everything I could, so we could get a better close up study on things."
Both men nodded in agreement and turned back to her. "What happened
next?"
The Science officer continued his questioning. He had already studied
her
findings, and had to admit he was impressed with the details she sent.
"Commander Phillips called to me and said I was joining the party, and
left
some instructions with those left behind, and we began to follow the
Marquis
into the jungle and he took us to his Castle," Miaren explained.
"Did you notice anything at this junction?" Avi asked again. He was
curious
to how long the women had been gone before the first attack came. Did
they
hear anything that sounded different? Or anything unusual as they
walked
through the jungle?
"Nothing, other than everyone in the party seemed to be very casual and
relaxed. Ya know. . .like when Tre-Hani is around. Only..it did not
affect
me in that way. It made me feel weird..almost creepy, tis why I forced
myself to send all the readings I had taken so far, like if I did not,
I
would not have another chance."
"After your team left.the base camp under went a series of attacks."
Avi
said gently, and waited for her reaction. He watched the color drain
from
her face.
"Any injured?" she asked her voice the only indicator she was upset
about
the news. Inside her a war raged. Her heart crying out over the hurt
and
injured and its need to go and give aid. Her mind, who wanted to study
her
findings and find a solution to that which had been placed before her.
We did sustain some injuries, and some deaths." Avi again spoke gently
aware
that it was hard for any one on a team not to feel some sort of crisis
when
a team member died.
"May I go and see if I can help in any way?" she asked, forgetting why
she
was here. Helping the wounded and taking care of her patients now
occupied
her thoughts.
"They have already been cared for." Avi counseled and tried to get her
questioning back on track. He needed to know more, he needed to know
why
Montana could not remember anything, and he needed to see if Miaren
suffered
from the same malady, or perhaps. . .she remembered differently.
"You and Commander Phillips were the last to return to the ship." The
science officer replied. "Tell us about your trek through the jungle.
Did
you see or sense anything out of the ordinary?"
"Aye, I did." Miaren began again, refocused on the problem at hand.
"Tis then I became curious, and wondered what was going on? I mean the
reports we have contain the findings of high radiation and possible
deadly
gases that would kill us if we were exposed in the sunlight." She
explained.
Both men again nodded in agreement, since they had read the reports
before
hand as well.
"Well, that report tis bogus." Miaren stated flatly. She noticed the
surprised look on both the men's faces and she blushed. "In my humble
opinion." She added. "But I can support my findins with facts."
"How so?" the science officer asked with a smile on his face.
"Well, if there were any sort of radiation of any sort, for any length
of
time the flora and plant life would indicate that. There was also no
mutation."
"Interesting.."Avi muttered softly.
"Well, granted I would need to run some genetics tests to further prove
my
statement, but from the looks of that plant life, tis rather healthy.
The
humus and loam were rich in both feel and smell. I also took samples
of
them."
"Good doctor, very good." Avi responded with a smile. She was a
strange and
funny little thing, but she was thorough.
"One last question, then you may return to your quarters to rest up."
The
Science officer stated.
"What happened when you stepped into the courtyard of the Castle?"
"Well, just as we reached it I was thinking, by the powers, I'm in a
horror
classic and we are gonna be made into zombies."
"Zombies?" both said in unison.
"Well, tis what I was thinkin, I mean we walked in this jungle for
miles it
seemed, and then there is this gothic castle, like Count Dracula's or
Dr.
Frankenstein's." she tried to explain.
Avi tried hard not to laugh. She was being as honest as she could, and
altho her thought process was interesting, he could see perhaps where
she
would feel like that. After all this was her first away mission; and
it did
seem rather strange.
"Go on." Avi said to get her to finish her tale. He was interested,
for he
would like to know just what they did for almost 8 hours. She and
Montana
and 3 of the security had vanished well over 6 hours. Just where were
they?
And what were they doing?
"Well, a storm was beginning and he mentioned we could not be out in
the
rain, it was harmful to us." Miaren continued. "I can't tell ya why,
but I
suddenly felt something not right, and so I sent the second batch of
findings and reports to Istria and to my team to begin checking into
why we
were told one thing, and we were finding another."
"Yes there is a discrepancy with the two reports." The Science officer
admitted. And he too was very curious as to why. "Altho. . . there
could
be a very simple explanation as to why." He added with caution.
"As I was talkin to Andrew..uh Lt uh.." Miaren could not for the life
of her
remember his blasted name. Now she felt foolish.
"Lt Mac Nab?" Avi offered gently. He already knew this part, for he
had
been briefed by the young officer.
"uh, nah, I don't think that is his name." Miaren offered her apology,
"Blast it all, I can't remember his name, but I was talkin to him and
as I
stepped over the threshold into the outer courtyard...the link went
dead.
No static, no fade in or out, it just died, instantly."
Both men nodded and only one took notes.
"Lt Mac Nab did report your conversation that ended suddenly, and also
reported a few other incidents." Avi replied and studied her reaction.
"Ahh, Mac Nab." She muttered softly and felt the blush creep up her
across
her face. She could not believe she had JUST corrected her superior
officer.
She wondered if she would ever get the hang of all this protocol. She
reflected back to his statements that the base camp had been attacked.
By
what? By whom? Why did she feel like she was in some strange gothic
horror
murder mystery? And what about J'sse? How was he involved? Why did
she
suddenly think about him? What was going on with her.?
"Then what happened?"
"We were ushered into the Castle and offered..." Miaren turned her
thoughts
back to the incident he was speaking of and suddenly she was not sure.
What
happened next?
"Offered what Dr?" Avi spoke softly, he was aware of her suddenly
struggling
with her memory. What had happened there? He just had to find out,
this was
nagging the back of his mind, and he was not sure which memory this was
tugging at.
"Humm, well I do remember bein offered some tea." She replied with a
smile,
and we did sit in a nice warm room to dry off."
She looked at the two men who watched her with interest. "I did not
partake.I remember the decline from Commander Phillips." She added.
"We were not there for very long..I think the Marquis left us for a
time..he
stepped out to check on something.." Miaren struggled with her memory.
What was wrong with her? She could see so much more in her mind's eye.
Why
could she not speak of it?
"The eyes! I remember the eyes!" she blurted out suddenly.
"What about the eyes?" the science officer asked.
"Whose eyes?" Avi asked interested as well.
"Their eyes, they are unlike I have ever seen." She replied. "For what
ever
reason, they can't handle the sunlight." She answered, not knowing
where she
had gotten that bit of information.
"Did he tell you this?" Avi asked.
"No, I just know it." Miaren replied. "For what ever reason, they have
learned to live in the dark, and now I think they are genetically
altered."
She replied as she tried to keep hold of the thoughts, as they began to
slip
from her as quickly as she found them.
"I remembered thinking that perhaps with some tests, and trial and
error, I
could maybe help them into the sunlight, let them live normally again."
She
rambled, lost in her thoughts of what she might be able to do with her
training in genetics.
"Can you account for the missing 6 hours?" Avi asked out of the blue,
trying
to figure out just what happened. Montana could not account for the
time as
well, and she was surprised to discover that somehow they lost Lewis
and
Martin, and no one knew where they went. Swallowed up by the planet.
Miaren blanched at his statement and from the obvious look on her face
they
realized she had NO clue to their being gone that long.
"We could not have been gone that long." She blurted out suddenly
worried.
If they had been gone that long? ...where were they? Was she still
her?
What if she was not who she thought she was?
"You and your little party were missing for over 6 hours Dr." Avi
stated
seriously. "You vanished without a trace."
"We were in the Castle, like I told you..but not for 6 hours! We
couldn't
have been, we were there very briefly." Miaren did not have a clue of
what
to say. Why could she not say what she knew? Why did she see what
happened
as clear as day and unable to put it into words?
"We have kept you long enough Dr. I think you need to go rest and we
can
pick this up later. Perhaps after you have had a chance to go over
your
findings with your research team. Maybe you will remember then." The
Science Officer stated while rising to show her the interview was over.
Miaren followed suit and rose with them. She turned to salute her
Captain
and he smiled and reached out and touched her shoulder.
"Glad you are back safe and everything seemed to have gone well." Avi
responded. He was glad she was back, but now the long process of
discovering what really happened there began.
"I will expect you at the briefing at 1600 hours, bring your findings."
Avi
reminded her.
"Thank you sir." Miaren replied and followed her escort out the door.
"Well Sherlock..you have a mystery." His friend grinned as Avi studied
his
face as he chuckled and nodded his agreement. Yes he did, and he would
solve this riddle.
[TAG- JOSH - SO what DOES Avi think? Any idea?]
Meanwhile as Miaren followed her escort she realized she was being
taken to
her quarters. She did not want to go to her room. She was not tired.
She
was intrigued and fascinated and she wanted to go begin her research.
She
wanted to dive into the evidence and begin to wade through it all and
figure
out just what was going on.
"Don't suppose I could stop at the la.." Miaren began
"Orders are for your return to your quarters, for rest." The voice
replied,
not turning around or to stop their pace. Miaren nodded and said
nothing.
Well, there were always a few ways to get around that edict. As long as
they
did not post a guard in front of her door, she would shower and dress
and
get back to the lab.
Medical Lab
0900
Miaren slipped into her lab and was glad that no one had seen her. She
just
needed to discover what had happened. 6 hours! By all that was holy
how
had that happened?
Granted she had forgotten her instruments in her room, she tried to
think
back and altho everything seemed so hazy and not clear, she knew that
what
ever had cut out their com link, would have affected the instruments.
As she looked over the notes and preliminary report from Myrah she
remembered some of the feelings that went with the taking of certain
readings.
Miaren slipped into the back room and made herself some tea and headed
back
to the lab. This was nagging at her, and she just had to unravel this
mystery.
She spent the next few hours happily retesting everything, and looking
up
things she had remembered that sounded similar.
When she had completed all the tests, her findings were almost the same
as
Myrah's. With the added tests, all she had done was define the major
discrepancy in the official StarFleet report.
What nagged Miaren the most was that she just knew that StarFleet knew
something that they pretended did not exist. For what ever reason,
what
ever higher purpose, they had deliberately withheld information, and
this
information had now caused the death of members of her crew.
Miaren felt the tears rise up and burn her lashes as she thought of the
pain, sorrow and suffering that would follow the news. The first
ripples in
the pond had begun, and by the time she had no idea how large the wave
would
be.
If she had anything to do with it, she would work all day and night, to
discover what they needed, to ensure that no more deaths would occur.
Shaking off the gloom that had descended upon her, she pushed up her
sleeves
and began the second batch of tests on the newer findings.
Miaren's Lab
1300
Miaren had spent the last few hours going over all the data, and trying
to
match it with what she had read from StarFleet, and what Istria had
told
her. She looked at her watch and realized that she needed to pull
things
together and get to the meeting.
She wished she had realized what time it was. She had gotten lost in
her
work as she usually did. Without a team who knew her well enough yet,
no
one had come to remind her about the other things she wished to have
done
before the meeting. Still, if luck ran with her, she could still meet
with
Istria before the meeting, and perhaps they could present what they did
know.
Miaren tapped her com link and asked if it were possible for someone to
contact Lt Istria Talara for her and ask her if they could meet.
There was a knock on the door and it opened. Istria walked in.
"Heard you were looking for me?" She replied with a smile.
"Got some time for a meeting of the minds?" She teased as she held up
all
her findings.
Miaren grinned and nodded holding up her.
"I have found some interesting things." Miaren replied.
Istria smiled and nodded. "Me too."
With heads together, the two women began to try to unravel the many
secrets
of the planet.
[TAG- Carina - wanna JP and uncover ALL the secrets?]
[SUMMARY]
MD4
0400- Miaren arrives back to the ship and is taken to Sick Bay for her
checkup.
0600-Miaren is done with her exam and led into the de-briefing room and
she
talks with Captain Reckage and a Science Officer. They go over some of
the
details of her experience. She learns that the base camp had been
attacked,
and that she and Commander Phillips had been missing and unaccountable
for
over 6 hours.
0900-Miaren sneaks back into her lab to go over the findings she sent
and
see if she can make sense of what she has before her.
1300-Miaren realizes she has some important vital information, and she
wishes she could work out a meeting before the 1600 meeting with the
Captain
and staff. She asks if someone can contact Istria for her and she is
surprised that she had the same idea and had come looking for her.

Subject: [Vampire-WW] Looking for Answers
NRPG: Contains a couple of instances of profanity.
Scene: Victory Cemetery, Night 17
"Um, ma'am, what ARE we looking for?" Preacher asked, furtive eyes
still
scanning the graveyard
Geli shrugged. "I'll know it when I find it."
The voice came abruptly out of the shadows. "Hey, Beautiful, I thought
I
told you not to come back here."
Not that Jorge minded seeing Geli again, but hey, there was an image to
maintain, after all. He stepped from the shadows from where he was
hidden,
not ten feet away from them. Preacher appeared surprised at the
vampire's
sudden appearance, or perhaps at the sight of a walking, withered
corpse.
"A demon." Preacher hissed, taking a protective step in front of his
new-found mistress.
Jorge raised an eyebrow at the mortal's bravado. Then he gave a snort
of a
laugh. "A demon, hey? Ain't been called that one for a long time.
Usually
they just point and stare and stammer out "Zombie", like I'm some extra
from
Dawn of the Dead or somethin'."
"Preacher," Geli snapped and with a shamefaced and confused look, the
tall
man stepped to one side. She turned to the ...thing in front of her. "I
apologize on behalf of my servant," she said. "His experience with
Kindred
is limited, particularly the more...," she paused for a moment trying
to
find a diplomatic way to say disgusting, "ah, colorful of the Clans."
After another pause, during which the Samedi did nothing but grin at
her,
Geli gave up hope of a more rational, civilized conversation. "I came
to see
you."
Jorge's eyes lit up. "Why, I'm flattered, Beautiful. If I'd known you
were
coming, I would have cleaned up the place a little." He grinned again,
and
showed off the graveyard with a sweep of his hand. He sidled up to her.
"So
then, is it business or pleasure?" He asked with a wink.
Geli rolled her eyes, even as with the other hand she stilled
Preacher's
attempt to move. Dead, undead - or somewhere in between - men were all
the
same. Still, despite his unquestioned disgustingness, there was
something
about this Samedi - if she only knew what it was.
It came to her as a bolt of lightning - but then visions did,
sometimes. He
didn't care - no attempts to impress or maintain his "image" (well,
yes, but
who would want to maintain THAT?) - he was free of the idiocies of the
Kindred she'd seen. Interesting. Was it him or was it a feature of
being
independent of faction?
With an effort she shook her head to clear it of these distractions.
"Business," she finally murmured.
Jorge shrugged. "Yeah, figured as much. But, ah ..." He paused,
glancing
over to Preacher. "How much do you want your ghoulie to know? Shall we
talk
more ... privately?"
Geli raised her eyebrows. "You expect me to trust you?" her voice rang
with
disbelief. "You stand there all but pulsing with evidence of diablerie,
but
I should feel safe?" She shook her head, but her smile didn't slip.
"No, I
don't trust Kindred. Preacher will do as I tell him."
"Hey, you're the one come stomping into my domain, and bringing a blood
sack
along with you. I'm the one who's doing the trusting here. I'm just
glad you
didn't bring your mind-warping friend this time." Jorge replied, a bit
miffed. After a moment, he shrugged. "All right, fine." Moving back, he
sat
himself down upon a gravestone. "So what's on your mind, cute stuff?"
"The Giovanni are up to something," Geli began, waving her hand to stop
the
Samedi when he would speak. "And I know, I know, it's not news. But
this
time they're using the Camarilla to get to you. And the Tremere. And I
want
to know what's really going on."
She settled herself on a nearby marker and waved Preacher a bit more
distant. It wasn't much and she knew it and she knew the Samedi knew it
too.
Talk of trust was all well and good, but if he went for her, Preacher's
sacrifice might be the only thing that got her out of here. Maybe.
Jorge scowled. "Ask the Giovanni then. It's not like they're going to
tell
me their plots against my Clan." He got up and paced back and forth,
fuming.
"Those frigging necrophiliacs ... can't do things on their own, so they
get
you dragged into the mix. Probably hoping we end up fighting while they
get
to sit back and laugh their asses off."
"That would fit," Geli nodded, thinking through what information she
did
have. She chose to ignore - mostly - the Samedi's rantings against the
Giovanni. They weren't...relevant. Yet.
"But if we know the things they don't WANT us to know, they won't win.
So...
their first claim is that your clan wrongly brought Tony Giovanni to
the
Final Death. Tell me what really happened."
"Tony? That little prick of a Giovanni? Finally joined the other side,
did
he? Huh, I wish I put the bastard down, let me tell you. Always
sniffing
around here with his inbred cronies." He paced and fumed for a while,
ranting on the vileness of the necromancers. Finally, he calmed down
and
thought a moment. "So they're saying it's us, hey? Well, the only way
we
would even bother is if someone paid us. All I know is that no one
offered
me anything. Hell, five bucks would have done it. But who would pay to
have
Tony whacked? He was a low-level nothing peon in the ranks. It would be
like
someone knocking off your ghoulie over there to get at your clan."
Geli thought for a minute, trying to make sense out of the tangle. Why
was
it every new piece of information made it MORE confusing instead of
less?
She sighed. "Ok, look. Here's what I know, maybe it'll make sense to
you.
First, somehow Ars... uh, Ars...," she frowned, failing to remember the
outlandish name.
"Ars-hole?" The Samedi suggested, grinning.
"Very funny," Geli retorted, making a face, though after a beat she
shrugged. "But possibly true. Anyway, the big head Giovanni in town
somehow
called for a Primogen Council meeting. I don't know WHO he suborned to
achieve that. Then at this meeting he said you had killed Tony and
provided
some vial of blood - mixed Giovanni and Samedi as proof. The Tremere
tested
it, said it was what he said. Now, he might have bought off the Tremere
-
maybe THATS what that girl is about - but the WHOLE clan? On something
this
big? I need to know."
"The Tremere? Now there's a trustworthy bunch." Jorge replied
scornfully.
"Look, I don't have any answers you're looking for, but you've done us
a
good turn telling me that we're about to get royally fucked. I'll ask
around
and see if anyone knows what's up."
He paused to glance over in Preacher's direction, then came up to her
slowly. "Now, how do I get in contact with you, in case I do find out
something? That way you don't have to dirty your pretty little hands
coming
down here again."
Geli held her ground, though her stomach did a flip-flop as the Samedi
stepped closer. The last thing she wanted to do was to give him more
power -
and as Herr Professor always said, fear cedes power. She forced a
smile. "My
hands are fine," she said quietly. "But if you don't like me on your
domain,
I understand." She thought desperately for a minute and then smiled
again,
this time for real. "I know a place. St. Anne's on Philip Street. Been
closed for years, but its too run down to sell. Great for a drop. No
one in
that neighborhood asks questions." She started to turn to leave, then
turned
back and grinned. "You're not afraid of crosses, are you?"
Jorge grinned back. "I hang around in graveyards ... you can't get much
holier than this. You any idea how many blessing are said around here?
I
know the place. Anything else you want to know, Beautiful?"
"Why do you keep calling me that?"
The words were out before her brain even registered she was thinking of
saying them. Fortunately, the connection between embarrassment and
blushing
was no longer automatic and she could avoid the extra humiliation. She
tried
to think of something to move the subject away, but failed. All she
could
think of now was how she'd made a fool of herself. Fine. Leave and be
done
with it. "I guess we're done for now."
"Looks like." Jorge agreed, stepping back. "Best be off, lest blood boy
behind me starts getting ideas we're up to something." He winked at her
before turning off to walk off back into the cemetery.
"Oh, and I call you that partly because I don't know your name, but
mostly
because it's true." With that, he faded into the shadows of the
graveyard.

Subject: [DL-D] The giving of the newly born
Day 105
Late afternoon
It had been four weeks ago that the little hellions were born. Dante's
apartment was a wreck, any thing that was fabric had a hole in it or
was peed on. His closet smelled and they were always making him end up
on
the floor. It was like a game to them. They all would run around him
till
he would lose his balance and down he went. Then the licking and biting
started.
Night and Gal didn't help they just watched with their dog smiles.
"Alright you ," He grabbed the biggest of the five. He looked into the
blue eyes. This one was the feistiest of them. As of right now while
Dante
was holding him the little thing was biting him. He then felt something
warm on his chest. "Oh come one now!" He placed him down and stood up,
again
they started to run and bark.
*Jacks! Tell Ishtar to get Akety over here now!* He was not mad at the
puppy he knew it was how they were, but he had had it.
A bit later Akety came walking though the door. "What is going on,
Ishtar said I had to get here fast?"
Dante came out of the bathroom with a towel on and two of the puppies
pulling on it.
Akety laughed.
"Its not funny." He said as a smile crossed his face. "I have to get
them out."
"Well lets give them to people around here."
"Ok, who do you think they should go to?"
He looked at them all. The pure white one, sat calmly on the bed.
Watching the going on. This one made Dante think of the light at the
end of
the
dark tunnel. This one was always so sweet, like a angel. "That one, on
the
bed. The little girl from the farm can have her."
Akety got a big smile. She picked up the puppy. "Alright I'll be right
back, think of the others before I get back.
(Tag: Arlene ... Akety is on her way with the puppy)
A bit later
Akety came thought the door again. "Alright, you got them figured out?"
He smiled. He was not dressed, though he pant leg was being pulled on.
He
pointed down. "This one goes to Jason. Its mean and full of spunk!"
"Are you sure you don't want to take it?" she smiled as she picked the
pup up.
"Yes." He said bluntly.
"What about the black one?"
He smiled. "That one is yours."
"Really!"
"Yep."
"Oh Dante!" She gave him a half hug, there was a growl and Akety had
to pull away from Dante before the pup she had in her hands took off
Dante's nose.
"Yes that one is for Jason."
"Alright I'll be back for the other two." She hurried out.
(Tag: Michael ... here he comes.)
early evening
"How did they like each other?" Dante asked his sister walked in.
"Eh, the puppy tried to bite his arm when I handed it him."
Dante nodded. "Well this one here goes to Pandora, she saved Weya this
is the best way I can thank her." He handed it to her.
"What about that one?" She asked as she picked up the little black
one that was hers.
"Oh, that ones going to Weya. Its just like her. Friendly, sweet,
pretty and very adventures." He smiled.
"Your a nut, well I'm off. This is the last one. I'm going to go home
after this, if you need anything else just call."
"See ya sis!" Dante sat down in a chair and for the first time in
weeks was not attacked by a hoard of puppies. Night and Gal laid on his
bed,
the
last pup sat in his lap. Sleeping soundly.
(Tag: Tree, The last puppy is on its way.)
