Subject: [DL-N] Some where out there.
Day unknown in an unknown area in the mountains
On a manmade plateau, sat two medium size dragons, one blue, and one
green. The two beasts sat one on each side of a manmade cave opening.
Just as two men wearing long, flowing, black robes came out of the cave
opening, a large gold dragon was flying onto the ledge. The men had
their hoods pulled up to the top of their heads, flowing around their
face.
As the two dark priests walked onto the ledge, the two dragons at the
entrance stopped them with their heads, and started to sniff the men
that did not belong up there. You see the Dragons are not linked to the
priests. They seem to be unlinked.
Just then the brilliant, gold dragon, ****ning in the sun light, landed
on the ledge. The rider with his finely polished silver armor, thinly
crafted, light weight, covered over thin stretched leather, jumped off
the golden beast. The sun beamed off a deep red jewel incased on his
sword hilt which hangs on the left side of his belt. The hilt is made
of fine silver wrapped in tightly, woven leather strap. His hair, light
brown, with a hint of blond, long, slightly curled, waved, as it flowed
thought the winds mild breeze. Now the rider was not a built man, and
of medium height, but has a well chiseled face, with a sharp, cold,
heartless, look. On his right, belt side is a hand crossbow.
The rider looked at the two large beasts at the entrance with a blank
look. The dragons looked back. Then the rider walks towards the two
priest.
The rider walks up to the two men, grabs one to his right on the
shoulder with his left hand. "Nice of you to come." The armored man
says to the priest. Then with a swift motion the rider grabbed a dagger
from his leg, and jammed it under the priest's rib cage, right into his
heart.
With a trust, a twist, and a jerk, he pulls the knife out. With a
slight whimper, the robed figure writhed to the ground, and into death.
Then the rider turned to the other priest, with a look that showed no
remorse, or sympathy for what he did, and says. "He didn't smell right,
but as for you....you smell...fine." Then with a twisted smirk he grabs
the priest's shoulder as he watches the robed man wet the bottom of his
robe.
With an evil chuckle the warrior says "I knew you would behave. So what
news from the king."
With a hard swallow the priest responds. "The king heard that a judge
was sent to the warren to trial a man...named Ranker Malstoung."
"Malstoung? He's dead. I killed him my self. Well maybe he had a son.
I'll bet he'll know where the diamonds are."
"That's what the king was hoping seeing as your men at the coal mines
have failed to get any information on that diamond mine in there. So
his majesty has sent me to tell you to get rid of the judge, and then
replace him to get this Ranker fella into our causity."
The rider looked at the gold dragon. Then the dragon took off. A few
moments later the dragon returned with a short man about four foot
three, with a bright orange ****rt covered in a light tan leather vest,
with pink pocket patches, sun yellow pant, with pink pocket patches, a
long dagger on his left side, and a top knot of brown hair on his head,
pointed ears, he also has a staff about four feet long with a sling
shot on top and a metal spike to stick in the ground for sturdiness, he
calls this thing a hoop-pack, he also carries many small bags of very
interesting things that he "finds" on his journeys .
"Yes my lord?" The little man says in a high, childish tone to his
voice.
"Go to Norwall, and get this Ranker fellow out. Any means possible.
Then bring him to me."
"Yes, my lord. It will be a grand adventure." The little one says as he
dances around in excitement of another adventure
"Just go! Tinsel-toe!"
"Hay that rhymes." The little man Named Tinsel-toe says as he skips
towards the cave entrance singing merrily. "Just go! Tinsel-toe!" Over
and over again.
The rider turns to the priest, and says. "There Tinsel-toe will take
care of everything. So go tell the king that everything is taken care
of. We will find those diamonds for him."
The priest nodded in fear then ran through the caves.
As for those diamonds, Ranker's father found them one day while mining,
but told no one except his family. Seeing as the coal mines and the
town belonged to the king, when the king heard that there was diamonds
found. The king hired a rouge dragon band to destroy the town, and find
the diamond mine any mean possible, and half the diamonds are theirs.
Even though if, and when the king has the mine of diamonds he will tell
norwall warren that the rouges had something to do with the poisoning
of the warren, so that the warren will destroy the rouges, and the king
will get the mines to him self.

Day 14
Afternoon
Merissa's Apartment
--
{SNIP}
She was alone in the apartment now. Both children had gone with Dru'Kar
to help bathe Ursa and Maxima. Xanthia blushed and smiled to herself as
she prepared to make some tea. She'd enjoyed having Dru'Kar bathe her.
It just made her love him even more. Her reverie was interrupted when
Merissa entered the apartment.
"Xanthia, have you seen Th'rin?" the queenrider asked.
"No. Why?" Xanthia asked.
{END SNIP}
Merissa looked worried and hesitated a bit before saying, "He should
have been in the medical center earlier when we brought the prince for
the tour. When he wasn't I thought there must have been an emergency
or
something. Only... one of the nurses said that she hadn't seen him...
and I thought, well, maybe he was here." She finished a bit deflated.
Xanthia shook her head. "No, I didn't hear of any emergency. I thought
he was at the med center?" She looked a bit confused.
"Perhaps he was just... busy." Merissa looked disappointed abut she
smiled at Xanthia and shrugged. Then she noticed that Xanthia was
hiding her hand. She leaned to the side to look but Xanthia only
turned
away. "What are you hiding there?"
Xanthia's cheeks pinked slightly as she recalled the events in the lab
earlier. She had hidden her cut hand when she had run from the
startled
and surprised faces as she had blurted out: "Damn it!"
"Xanthia?" Merissa saw the blush spreading. "Don't worry about what
happened in the lab. It was an accident."
Xanthia nodded and slowly brought her hand into view. "I didn't mean
to
say what I said," she stated as some explanation.
"OH! You cut your hand!" Merissa took the injured hand in hers and
looked at her friend in concern. "Did you have someone look at this?"
"Dru'Kar bandaged it, after he... after my bath," Xanthia stated.
Then
she sniffed, "You need a bath."
Merissa blushed and laughed, "Oh, I didn't notice. I'd better bathe
before going back to my office. And if you see Th'rin... well, never
mind. I'll talk to him later."
Merissa headed to her room, wondering why Th'rin had avoided the tour
and worrying about him.

Day 15
Early Evening
Fowler VIP Quarters
--
Jennifer sulked as her maid-in-waiting brushed out her hair, "They get
to dine with the Prince!"
"But Miss Jennifer, you will be dining with a Very Im****tant Earl!
Didn't you say so yourself?" The maid attempted to quiet her agitated
mistress, because she knew Jennifer's temper when she was crossed often
wasn't restricted to the one at whom she was vexed.
"Yes, an Earl." Jennifer smiled slyly at the thought of what this Earl
might be able to accomplish to further her standing. But... if she
were
in tight with the Prince, then she'd already be in high standing! The
dark cloud descended at the thought that her brother, though she hated
to think of him as such, was in obvious good standing with the Prince
as
he'd been invited to the private dinner party.
Few knew of the dinner, but J'red had made it a point of coming by
earlier to "make his excuses" to his father when he'd received the
invitation to dine with them and Earl Reginald. He just had to rub it
in that he was dining with The Prince. Jennifer felt a tug at her hair
and lashed out, "OW! You clumsy wench! You are supposed to brush my
hair, not yank it out!"
The maid paled and apologized profusely. She added the last bauble and
quickly fled.
Jennifer stared at herself in the warped mirror that the warren had
provided. She was sure that Miss Ari had a good mirror! She would
tell
her father that this one just wouldn't do. It didn't even afford her a
full length view!
"Jennifer!" She heard her father calling to her. Good let him wait.
Though... the Earl. And with thoughts of him, she hurried from the
room.
"My, Jennifer!" Lord Fowler beamed at his daughter, "Don't you look...
like a young lady!" He smiled but the smile faded as he saw the
haughty
look on her face.
"I am a young Lady!" Jennifer declared and flounced past her father
toward the door.
Hamn Fowler sighed and shook his head. He wished he'd been invited to
the Prince's dinner party instead of dining with Earl Reginald. He
would have enjoyed his son's company so much more. Where had he gone
wrong with Jennifer?

Same time
Merissa's Apartment
--
Xanthia turned from the pot she'd been stirring and looked at Merissa
in
surprise, "A little dressed up for stew?"
Merissa sighed, "Sorry, Xanthia, I should have told you. I'm not
eating
at home tonight. I've been invited to have dinner with Prince Reolden
and Ari... and I'm not sure who else. Do I look all right?"
Xanthia smiled, and nodded, "You look beautiful."
"Would you mind telling Th'rin? He's been acting so strangely lately."
Xanthia looked away, "Um..."
Seeing her hesitation, Merissa asked, "Is there something wrong? I
know
I've been distracted by the prince's arrival, but if you need to
talk....?"

Evening
Dinner, Prince Reolden's Quarters
--
Merissa had been nervous and excited about dinner but once they were
all
seated she found herself relaxing and enjoying it immensely. The tale
about the first joined dragon had been something Merissa had told often
when she was a bard, but Ari's rendition was just sweet and innocent
with a cute ending that Merissa hadn't heard before.
Merissa had never thought much about the story, but chuckled as she
realized that it must not have been written by a dragonrider or one who
knew dragons all that well, and wondered what Chrysthal would think
about a "dragon king". But it was still a very cute story and had been
one of her favorites growing up.
J'red also enjoyed watching Ari tell her tale. He sat riveted watching
the emotions play freely across her face.
When Ari finished the story she smiled at the group and said, "And that
be how dragons and humans be joined." Her eyes misted over and J'red
knew that she was communing with Azhy but when they cleared, their eyes
met and it took a great deal of will for J'red to break the gaze.
He swallowed and looked away and he caught the eye of Reolden, who was
looking at him with a strange, contemplative gaze. Reolden then turned
toward Merissa and murmured something which made the warrenlady blush
and giggle.
J'red looked away, hoping that he hadn't been too obvious in his
feelings for Ari. He had no rights to her. She was a princess with a
future elsewhere.
Conversation swirled around and the wine flowed during dinner. It was
a
wonderful evening, but soon dessert was being served and the evening
was
winding down.
After appreciation was expressed, couples were drifting together and
drifting out together. Mahti and Eleanora left and the prince offered
to walk Merissa back to her apartment. Reolden glanced over at Ari and
turning to J'red, he stated, "Sir, I would be appreciative, if you
could
keep my cousin company until I return?"
J'red blinked in surprise, "Of course, your highness, I would be glad
to..."
"Good." Reolden smiled and immediately offered his arm to Merissa and
the two exited together.

Late Evening
Trinale's Garden
--
The night was balmy and the prince and warrenlady walked slowly, not
wanting the evening to end.
"It was a lovely dinner party," Merissa commented softly.
"Thank you. I rather enjoyed it myself. I don't often get a chance to
be so ... casual." He smiled warmly at the enchanting woman on his
arm.
"I was so worried about you, Merissa. When I heard about the
poisoning,
I wanted to come, but my advisors were strongly against it."
"I'm glad you didn't come! There wasn't anything you could have done,
and," she smiled, "I looked awful."
"Never!" Reolden laughed, but he sobered as he asked, "Do you think
the
one who poisoned you was acting alone?"
"To be honest, I don't know what to think. I can't imagine anyone
within my warren wanting to do me harm or helping someone to harm me.
They're my family. Yet... how did he know about my tea?" She felt a
****ver run through her.
Feeling her tremble, Reolden stopped and enfolded Merissa in his arms.
"I am just thankful that you are here."
"If it hadn't been for Ari..." Merissa said softly, and leaned her head
against Reolden's shoulder.
She lifted her face and looked up at him with her haunting black eyes.
She looked so fragile then, and Reolden wished he could always be there
to protect her. "Merissa..."
She put her fingers over his lips and shook her head, "Don't. Don't
say
it, Reolden. Once something is said it can never be taken back."
He nodded and slowly lowered his lips to hers.

SUMMARY:
Day 14
Afternoon
Merissa returns to the apartment in search of Th'rin but finds Xanthia
alone. Merissa is concerned since he wasn't around for Prince
Reolden's
tour. Xanthia states that she thought Th'rin was in the medical center,
leaving more questions in Merissa's mind.
Day 15
Early Evening
While getting ready for the dinner with Earl Reginald, Jennifer Fowler
pouts about her not being invited to a "private" dinner party that
Prince Reolden is having that same evening.
Merissa gets ready for the dinner with Prince Reolden and has a
conversation with Xanthia.
Evening
Merissa enjoys the prince's dinner party and Ari's story telling.
J'red
tries not to stare at Ari, thinking that he has no right to show his
continued interest in her, but he realizes that Reolden caught him
looking.
As the dinner party breaks up, Reolden offers to walk with Merissa, but
asks J'red to remain with Ari while he is gone.
Reolden and Merissa walk through Trinale's Garden and talk about recent
events, including Merissa's poisoning. Merissa stops Reolden from
declaring his feelings, but he kisses her instead.

Subject: USS Capricorn: Not One Bit.
Time: (whenever the meeting is supposed to be. I thought it was 1600)
=B3Thoughts?=B2 Avi said, sitting up straight once each of the officers
finished giving their re****ts. It would be the third time for each.
=B3I don=B9t like it, Captain.=B2 Ury started. =B3I don=B9t like it at
all. There
are any number of things that could go wrong. We have no contact once
inside that castle. The storms. Plus, who else knows what=B9s down
there?
Martin and Lewis are still missing. I don=B9t like it, and don=B9t know
what
other precautions we can take other than not going down there.=B2
=B3Noted, Lt.=B2 Avi said, leaning back in his chair. =B3Who else?=B2
A=B9kora spoke up this time, =B3we could try outfitting you with a
locator
device, however, without having tested it, we=B9d have no way of knowing
if it
would work ahead of time.=B2
=B3Agreed,=B2 Avi concurred, while thinking out loud, =B3it does still
strike me
as odd though. There=B9s no record of these people in any databanks we
have
access to. The computers find nothing on their planet in centuries.=B2
=B3And the information that we had on the planet is simply factually
inaccurate.=B2 The young doctor interjected
=B3Quite. Which brings me to my next part, what other parts have you
been
able to refute?=B2
=B3We=B9re working on air samples, but there is something very wrong
here,
Captain.=B2 Istria commented. =B3Maybe if I was able to get down onto
the
surface and do some scans myself, perhaps even during the day...=B2 she
started to say, but then quickly caught herself.
=B3Lt., Starfleet tells us its dangerous to be there during the day.=B2
Avi
said, but drifted off as he did. =B3You said the air samples came up
clean of
toxin?=B2
=B3Yes, sir.=B2
=B3Lt. Commander A=B9kora, what would it take to get that shuttle up and
running
again?=B2 he asked with a sly grin.
=B3Quite some time, sir. But probably no more than 8 hours with the
right
parts.=B2 She responded completely missing his intention.
=B3Excellent. I think it would be criminally negligent for us to come
here
and not remove a piece of Starfleet equipment. Plus, if this planet is
dangerous, it would also be difficult for us to leave without aiding
its
residents, don=B9t you all think?=B2 Nods around the table. =B3Good,
then as
dusk settles in, Lt. Talara, you and I will go down to the planet...=B2
=B3Sir?=B2 the FO spoke up quickly.
=B3Yes, Commander, I thought you=B9d have a problem with that. I don=B9t
want you
and the doctor going down to the surface again without 4 hours of
uninterrupted sleep.=B2 Avi said, looking between her and the doctor.
=B3Yes, sir.=B2 The meek doctor nodded and said in agreement.
=B3Good, meanwhile, Lt. Commander, you will assemble your team. Lt.
Rogan, I
know you=B9re in charge of security, but for now, I need you to be the
adult
on board.=B2
=B3Yes, sir.=B2
=B3Unless there is anything else? No? Good, then dismissed. Istria,
we have
a short while. I will meet you in Trans****ter room 2.=B2
*****
=B3Montana,=B2 Avi called after her as the others filed out. Waiting
until the
rest of them left, =B3I want you to get some sleep. I don=B9t like
leaving Ury
on the bridge alone for too long. We=B9ll have no other senior officers
with
the two of you asleep, that=B9s why I limited it to 4 hours...=B2
=B3I understand, Captain.=B2 She said, placing her hand flush, palm
against his
chest plate. He could see the fatigue in her eyes. She hid how tired
she
was well, but not against one who could describe every line on her
face,
right down to the freckle.
=B3Captain?=B2
=B3We are not in one of our quarters.=B2 She smiled, looking down as she
said
it. =B3Listen...=B2 she started, taking a very deep breath before
continuing.
=B3I don=B9t know quite how to say this, so I=B9m just going to come out
with
it...=B2 and she told him what she=B9d seen and read. Avi not being a
cat
person wouldn=B9t have given it a second thought, but the cat had taken
much
more interest in Montana. So, it wasn=B9t surprising that she noticed
these
things. =B3I wanted to tell you. I could be wrong, but I don=B9t think
I am.=B2
=B3Alright, I=B9ll keep an eye out for my...<ahem> friend.=B2 He said,
putting
his hand over hers now. =B3Now do me a favor? Go get some sleep. I
want to
come back to a completely well rested First Officer.=B2
=B3Yes, captain,=B2 she said with a lot more emphasis on the last word
this
time.
=B3Damn,=B2 Avi muttered before walking out onto the bridge following
her. OWhy
the cat?=B9 he thought as he walked over to the security officer.
=B3Ury, tell
me everything you can remember about the planet, specifically the area
around the shuttlecraft and this cat you and the chief engineer saw.=B2
*******
Meanwhile, down on the planet...
Marquis was thinking to himself. Laying in the crypt, he had time to
go
over the events of the last few hours before =B3the rest=B2 of the
evening. In
particular, the events in his study.
<flashback>
=B3J=B9sse, I need to understand this, why did you ask about her?=B2
=B3She=B9s here. I wanted to know more, and since you wouldn=B9t tell
me...=B2
=B3Because there is nothing to tell. J=B9sse, you trust me, do you
not?=B2
=B3Of course I do!=B2 he said forcefully.
=B3Then you=B9ll trust when I say, there is nothing there. She left.
That is
all.=B2
=B3Of course.=B2 The Oyounger=B9 one agreed, as Sybil walked in with two
mugs of
piping hot liquid, not that it mattered. They had long lost taste
buds.
=B3Sybil, can you please check on J=B9hon? I wish to speak with him as
well.=B2
<end flashback>
=B3Yes, Marquis.=B2 she said, easing her way out of the room. Quickly,
she
scampered down the stairs, through a series of doors, and coming upon
one in
the deepest recesses of the first basement. =B3J=B9hon, he=B9s asking for
you. I
will speak with them for you. And don=B9t tell him about our
agreement.=B2 She
said, with the corners of her mouth slightly upturned.
=B3Sybil, you forget yourself. Of course I won=B9t.=B2 He said, patting
her
posterior before leaving the ante room. As he walked past her, she
allowed
those same corners to drop downward. She would only tolerate that for
so
much longer.
=B3Yes, I do.=B2 Once the door behind her was closed, she unlocked the
stairway
downward even further. It had taken her a long time to discover this
entrance. Her =B3friends=B2 had taken to the shafts beneath the castle,
but as
she=B9d been keeping them well informed, they never made their way up
into the
main rooms, only satisfying themselves with what was beyond the walls.
They
would have more to feast on soon again.
****
Place: on the planet
The away team materialized with little problem. The light was a little
bit
more bright than he=B9d been expecting, but as the sun was already below
duskline, he wasn=B9t blinded. Looking around, the ground was just as
lush as
he=B9d been told. Something he was also surprised by. =B3Alright,
let=B9s get
started. You know what to do.=B2 He said, crouching down next
to...well,
what was it? =B3Lt. Talara, a moment of your time please?=B2 She walked
over
to what interested him so. =B3What is this?=B2
=B3I don=B9t know, Captain, I=B9ll take a sample and have it analyzed.=B2
She said,
leaning over what really he=B9d think was a stump of a limb, but really
wasn=B9t
sure, as it looked nothing humanoid. =B3We should have the results back
in
short time.=B2
=B3Good. Now, let=B9s get started.=B2
