> Lia was so startled by Query's action that she didn't react until
after they
were moving along the 'street' outside the pub
>
> "'Your mother and I'?" Lia hissed at Query as she tugged her elbow
from his
grip, hurrying to keep up with his stride. "What was that, a proposal?
And
where are we going in such a hurry?"

"We're going to meet Officer Krupky." Query responded once they were
in a
closed lift shaft.

"I know that, you pompous, jackass!" She said, slamming the lift-stop
button (or so she hoped.) "Now, we're going to talk! You've been in a
pissy mood ever since we first got here! I've been pretty
understanding up
until now, but you ARE going to tell me what is going on, NOW!" She
nearly
screamed, standing all the way up to her full height. Of course, that
still
was only up through his shoulder or just above.

"Are you finished?" Query said, looking down on her in more way than
one.
"I am here because the captain in his infinite wisdom said that I need
to be
here to bridge the gap between us and our friend here, if that is even
what
he is." Query said. "If the Oberon doesn't return, we're the only
thing
that's left of her crew. Am I pissed? Yes! Do I enjoy being
interrogated
at every turn? NO! Bolsand has been feeding us information. We were
sent
to him by the Ambassador from Betazed. This man contains a way for us
to
get all the information we need to bring down the people running the
Federation, who, seemingly have been pulling the wool over everyone's
eyes."

"Query, you aren't getting it! What is wrong with YOU?! YOU have been
acting this way for a few days now. Since we returned from the
station, and
I want to know, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!" She nearly screamed at him.

"I'm pissed, that's what's wrong with me! I've been pissed since we
first
got here!"

"Its Ochari," a voice said, as the doors mysteriously opened to a long
hallway. Neither of them realized they'd been moving before. 'I guess
it
wasn't the stop button I hit.' Lia thought to herself quickly.

"Alright, Klampant, where are you?"

"Again, Mr. Neile, my name is Bolsand. The two of you have been
infected by
my brother's little game. You especially, Mr. Neile." Bolsand's voice
resonated in the hallway.

"GAME?!?! This has all been a FORKIN' GAME?!?!!" Query said, walking
down
the hallway, realizing he was now below the cardo again -- where he'd
first
met Bolsand yesterday. "What the hell is wrong with you people?
You're
immortal, so you think you can just play with us?! Is that it?!?!"

"Mr. Neile, please control yourself."

"Hey, Chief Wiggam, I'm not some petulant child! You've been treating
me
that way since the beginning. Now you tell me YOUR BROTHER has
released
something that makes me more pissed than I already was," Query said now
pacing back and forth, "like I didn't have enough to annoy me with two
of my
friends going rogue, I needed this? Next you're going to tell me my
****p is
never coming back, aren't you? Man, do you get off on this kind of
stuff or
what?!?"

"Please settle down, Mr. Neile. I would hate to have you arrested.
You
forget, you are not well liked on this station."

"Excuse me," Lia said, stepping up. "Mr. Bolsand. What do you mean
game?"

"First of all, Ms. Anton, its just Bolsand. Secondly, my brother has a
rather rich sense of humor. He enjoys taking his pleasure out of the
displeasure of others. Sadly, you and your crew are those others...."
He
stopped speaking to Query's screams from down the hall.

"He'll be fine." Lia deadpanned.

"Ochari is as old as I am, but he has an over developed sense of humor.
Luckily for me, most of the problems he causes are reversible."

"And is this one?"

"I won't know for some time yet. Keep him safe, and away from people.
I
will contact you again, when I know more..." the disembodied voice
said.

"Oh no you don't!" Query said running close to Lia, as she took him
down.
Hard. "OW! WHAT IN THE..."

Lia had put her arm across his chest, while performing a perfect
takedown.
Her judo instructor would have been so proud. Leaving her forearm
across
his collarbone, she said, "stay down. Had you continued, you would
have ran
headfirst into the wall. Something you would have found less pleasant
than
what I just did. Query," she said, looking him straight in the eye, as
he
tried to get up. "stay down, and calm down. You aren't yourself, and
its
something you CAN control." His struggles slowed. "Good. I'm not
angry at
you any more now that I know it wasn't entirely your fault. But
you're
still going to have to behave, or this will be the least of your
worries. I
don't feel like getting into a tussle with one of those guards. They
won't
be as easy to take down."

Meanwhile, back on the Oberon...

"Sherry, not to pile on or anything, but how long do you think we're
going
to be doing this?" Eoin asked, seemingly innocently.

"Well, Eoin, I'm not really sure. You see, back when I went to
renegade
infantry school, they forgot to teach me how long we'd be using a
stolen
piece of technology when invading an immortal alien's BATCAVE!" She
exclaimed, pacing back and forth in front of the office doorway.

"What?" Eoin turned around and asked.

"Nothing. Forget it. Look, riddle me this, F'Tok, how long was the
theoretical threshold for our cloak to work?"

"Sherry, it was not designed to work with our systems at all. We never
anticipated to need it for more than 1 hour at a time. The power flow
seems
fairly constant. If it remains this way, we will be able to make
longer,
but I would not feel comfortable making any sort of guess."

"Right, of course not. I'll be right back." She said, walking into
Query's
office. "Engineeering to Bridge."

<Yes, Ensign Lewis. Captain LuCypher here.>

"Captain, I just wanted to remind the bridge the cloak was only rated
for 60
minutes of use at a time, and we are close to 20 minutes now." She
said,
extremely nervously, in her first official re****t to the bridge.

<Understood. We will be entering the Citadel shortly. Bridge out.>
The
Captain cut the connection, and Sherry collapsed into the chair. Her
first
re****t, it lasted 2 sentences, and her knees were still shaking.

"For my first re****t, my knees were playing castanets," a voice said
from
the doorway.

"Shea, seriously, between the robe, and that, I think I know way more
about
you than I needed to."

"Yeah, life's a *****, ain' it?" He smirked, taking a sip of his
coffee.
"How much time do we have?"

"None. We're entering the Citadel shortly."

"Good, then hopefully this will be all over soon."

"Is everyone still around the table?"

"Yup. Alex was going to see Lucy, but she is sleeping. God only knows
how."

"You believe in god?" She asked.

"Yeah, you gotta sometimes. Ain't got nothin' else to hang your hat on
otherwise."

"I hear ya." she said, patting him on the sternum before going back
out
with him in tow. "Alright, F'tok, stay on power flow. Jon, move over
to
control. Shea, replace the Joker here," she ordered patting Eoin on
the
head. "There will be an away team in the Citadel shortly, so we've got
to
be ready for anything. Alex, you stay on liaison duty, and make sure
to
kiss your girlfriend when she wakes up." He smiled at that.

"Sherry," Eoin said, standing up. "I still don't understand. What is
the
Batcave?"

"You're an idiot." She smirked.

Subject: [USS Capricorn] It's back!

Fluid time on the planet (Which means I need to get my butt in gear and
update the timeline :D)

Greenish-yellow eyes followed the man's every movement with keen
interest. Surprise, surprise the Cat-hater himself had come down from
his lofty perch. She noted the others her eyes glowing in amusement,
what fun to be had.

The night breeze still carried the scent of death from the night before
but the human's wouldn't notice it, not in the same way she did. In
fact she doubted if the Cat-hater could smell anything with the stuff
that he was wearing. She never could understand why the human's put
strange scents on themselves like they did. Actually, some of the kinds
the females used wasn't too bad, but for the most part they made her
sneeze, as she was about to do now.

The big cat snuffled and began to rub its nose into the moss-covered
limb to rid herself of the irritating fragrance worn by the man.
After-shave she remembered it being called, which brought on another
strange remembrance of the human's crude ritual of removing hair from
their bodies. The males did this to their faces, which was strange in
itself but even stranger was that the females would do the same to
their legs. Of course she never got a real answer as to why they did
this and that dolt Walker was little help with her questions. Sometimes
she was sure the ditzy blonde had more brains then the pirate.

<Snip>

"We can't tell an awful lot from that..." she said.

"And those are our people," she continued, indicating the booted
footprints
of the away team, slightly away from the scuffle, when they entered the

clearing. "But what about *those*..."

The tracks she pointed to were vaguely humanoid, but elongated, and
clawed.

<End Snip>

There was several people walking around the area. Mostly security, each
exploring, fully alert and watching their leader closely and carefully
keeping within the perimeter of the lights of the approaching as they
searched. From her lofty perch she listened to the different
conversations going on but her eyes followed the man in red closely.
When he wandered off through the bushes she saw her chance and the
large feline dropped to the ground her body beginning to transform with
each step.

[..]

Noting a strange rock formation about head high Avi ****ned his light on
it and noted that something appeared to be etched into the stones.
Moving to further inspect it he climbed over several fallen trees in
his way. Kneeling in front of the huge rocks he ran his fingers over
the strange indention's his brow furrowed in deep thought.

"Captain?"

"I'm over here, I'm fine!" He called out leaning closer. Then added
"Istria you might want to take a look at this!"

"What ya looking at!" The silky voice purred in his ear.

Avi jumped slamming his head into a small sharp overhang above him. He
yelped loudly in pain seeing stars for a brief moment. Rubbing his head
he spun around raising his light to reveal an all too familiar face.

"Pe.."

The Capricorn Captain turned as urgent calls for him sounded as the
team members hurried to their Commander's aide. Istria was the first to
burst through the foliage and she stopped short her eyes growing huge.
She was almost knocked over by the security officers ru****ng in behind
her each freezing in place, each gaping at the black panther laying on
the rocks directly behind the man's head, its tail twitching ominously.

Rubbing the sore bump that had appeared, Avi stared at them curiously,
"It's alright it's just..." turning he noticed the exotic woman was
gone. ****ning his light into the foliage he sighed in irritation.

"Captain, you need to walk towards us slowly and don't make any quick
movements." Istria exclaimed trying to sound calm. The large feline was
right behind the Captain's head giving them no clear shot. It could
attack at any minute.

"What?" Avi questioned as he was suddenly thumped on the side of the
face with something black and furry.

"Captain! Duck!" One of the security officers yelled as the Panther
rose to its feet. Avi's eyes widened seeing the phaser aimed at him and
instinctively dropped. "Hold your fir." The cat growled leaping away as
the weapon sounded just missing it. Then came the faint rustle of
bushes as it melted into the dark underbrush putting a short distance
between it and the Starfleet.

Avi rose to his feet dusting himself off with a disgusted look as the
team rushed forward."I'm fine! Grrrr.. I HATE CATS!" He yelled in the
direction the panther had headed.

An inhuman snarl laced with laughter that only the man could hear
echoed through the forest and the large cat began to shrink in size as
it scaled a nearby tree. White fangs gleamed eerily in the night as the
black one smiled knowing her ride of this planet was know definitely
assured.

Subject: [Vampire-WW] Charms

Scene: Redemption, Night 8

Vincent pulled smoothly into the back parking area for Redemption. He
turned
off the engine, and glanced over at Kathryn. She sat quietly,
half-awake and
a little overwhelmed by recent events. She would be hungry, Vincent
knew,
especially after being bitten by Danielle. He smiled again at the
thought of
the Primogen being bound to the newest Neonate.

He got out and rounded to the other side of the car, opening the door
for
Kathryn. With a little effort, he managed to coax her out of the car.
Locking up, he put an arm around her to help keep her steady, and
headed
inside.

Arriving back in his loft, he directed her to the bed and let her lay
down.
She murmured to herself as he bent down beside her. "Now, my sweet,
stay
here, and do not step outside. I will return shortly." He kissed her
forehead, then made his way back down to the club, ensuring that the
door
was locked.

At the foot of the stairs, he found Michael waiting for him. "Did you
find
her?" The man asked.

"Yes," Vincent replied, "Go upstairs and wait outside the door. Make
sure
she does not leave again."

Michael nodded and quickly went upstairs while Vincent walked out into
the
club. There were numerous patrons, as there almost always was.
Redemption
had proved popular to the citizens of New Orleans. But tonight he felt
he
had little time to gaze at them, to see if someone new had arrived. A
quick
scan and he found a prospective meal. She was young, perhaps the same
age as
Kathryn, and certainly pretty enough, but more im****tantly, she was
alone.
He approached her with a glittering smile, and she smiled back shyly.

He decided not to play the game tonight, and focused his Presence upon
her.
"I want you to come with me, now."

Overwhelmed by his grace and beauty, the woman merely nodded as she let
Vincent take her by the hand. Together, they weaved to the back steps,
and
he guided her back to his loft. Vincent dismissed Michael, and let the
woman
walk ahead of him into the apartment. She giggled nervously as she
looked
about the finely decorated room. She missed Vincent locking the door
behind
him. "I've never done this kind of thing before." She said.

Vincent came up to her, stroking her hair and cheek, to which she
nearly
swooned. "Do you not wish to be here, my sweet?" He asked, leaning in
and
whispering into her ear.

"No ... I mean, yes ..." She took a breath. "I mean, I don't want to
go."

Vincent smiled at the girl, and led her down the hall to the bedroom.

As the door opened, Kathryn turned and smiled. "Vincent!" she said,
rising
gracefully from the bed, as Vincent stepped into the room, extending
his
hand to her. Then Kathryn saw the girl, standing behind him in the
corridor.

"Oh!" she said, confusion and hurt spilling across her features.

Everything had been so perfect, and now this?

Her move from sheltered student to Vincent's lover had been a whirlwind
departure from her old life, but she had embraced the fear along with
the
excitement. Vincent's talk of his vampire sect had unnerved her, but
she
could accept it all eventually, she hoped. They had taken drugged wine
together, that had made her feel ... so strange ... that was the only
explanation she could think of. What drugs they were she couldn't
fathom,
but they didn't sound like any of the 'bad' drugs she had been warned
about,
and Vincent's reassurances that all would be well had comforted her.
And
they had made her feel so warm, invulnerable and close to her lover.
She
would do anything for that one-ness. And if the drugs were part of this
strange alliance she had been welcomed into, she could accept them too.

But now this girl? Suddenly Kathryn realised what an ugly and hurtful
emotion envy could be.

"Who's this?" Kathryn asked as she looked at the girl, taking a step
back
and ignoring Vincent's offered hand.

"In a moment, sweetling." Vincent replied with a smile, then turned to
the
young woman that followed him.

"Umm ... I'm not so ..." The girl began, but fell silent as Vincent
gazed
into her eyes.

"Hush." He whispered, reaching out and stroking her cheek. She closed
her
eyes and ****vered at his touch.

"Things are moving more quickly than I had desired, Kathryn." Vincent
continued, still stroking the other girl's cheek and neck. "I had hoped
to
ease you more slowly into this, but ... you must learn one way or the
other."

His back still to Kathryn, Vincent brushed aside the girl's hair. She
leant
her head to one side as he leaned in towards her, nuzzling the soft
skin of
her neck.

Shocked, confused and hurt, Kathryn tried to step around Vincent and
the
girl, heading for the door. Although his face remained close to the
other
girl's throat, Vincent's hand shot out and grasped Kathryn's wrist. She
pulled away, but his grip couldn't be broken.

"Kathryn," he said, "you *must* stay. Soon you will understand. I
brought
her here for you,"

Kathryn's moral boundaries had been severely stretched, she thought,
but she
had her limits. She knew she had to be strong if she wanted to keep her
sense of self-respect. "I thought I understood you," she retorted,
hovering
between anger and tears, trying to keep the shaking from her voice,
"but I'm
not going to stay here for you to involve me in your sick little
games!"

Once again Kathryn tried to pull her wrist free, but her Vampire lover
was
too strong for her.

Feeling helpless, she bowed her head and her long dark hair fell in a
curtain over her face.

"Please, Vincent," she whispered. "Don't make me do anything that isn't
right."

Vincent straightened, holding the swooning girl in one arm, his other
still
holding Kathryn's arm tight. A trickle of blood slowly made it's way
down
the girl's neck, and after a moment, Kathryn's senses caught the scent
of
it.

"There is no right or wrong in this, my sweet." Vincent said, in a kind
voice. "You thought I brought this girl here for something as lewd as
***?"
Vincent shook his head. "No, we are beyond that now. No, she represents
something more than that, Kathryn, she represents life."

He gazed at Kathryn. "Look at me." He bade, and Kathryn slowly raised
her
eyes to him. "I am sorry, but there is no other way. You are in need of
sustenance, or you shall lose yourself."

He led both back towards the bed, laying the girl down and then turned
his
full attention to Kathryn.

"Kathryn, I have made you into something much more than you were. No
more
will you have to play these silly mortal games, ru****ng through life to
get
what you can out of it. You have all eternity, now. Every night you
will be
as beautiful as you are now. Every night you can play the music you
were
destined to play. Every night we shall be together. But for that, there
is a
small price to pay."

Fascinated, horrified and irresistibly drawn, Kathryn stared at the
blood
trickling down the girl's neck. Her legs trembled and she sank down
onto the
bed. She looked up at Vincent for reassurance.

"The blood?" she said. "I need the blood? That's the price - for
eternity?"

Vincent nodded. "Eternity, for us, together, ma cherie," he said.

Subject: [USS Capricorn] Lost!

[Approximately two hours after the briefing]

<Snippets>

"Sir?" the FO spoke up quickly.

"Yes, Commander, I thought you'd have a problem with that. I don't want
you and the doctor going down to the surface again without 4 hours of
uninterrupted sleep." Avi said, looking between her and the doctor.

Montana's greenish-blue eyes flashed irritably. Damn Avi he knew better
then to take off on his own. It was her job to see to his safety and he
was sending her for a nap like some errant child.

"Yes, sir." The meek doctor nodded and said in agreement.

*Whimp!* The lanky redhead glared irritably at the medical officer's
passiveness. During their visit with the Marquis Montana had thought
the CMO might actually be made of sterner stuff but it appeared she was
wrong. It didn't matter how tired they were, they were Starfleet
Officer's and had a job to do. Having the Commanding Officer running
around on the planet while the First Officer slept was totally
unacceptable. The fact that he just might be right was simply out of
the question.

[..]

***"Montana," Avi called after her as the others filed out. Waiting
until the rest of them left, "I want you to get some sleep. I don't
like leaving Ury on the bridge alone for too long. We'll have no other
senior officers with the two of you asleep, that's why I limited it to
4 hours..."***

She really hated when he tried to placate her, unfortunately he was
right and the fatigue she felt was fast winning out. Of course she
wasn't about to admit it to him. Ury had little 'throne' time but
Montana had full confidence in his abilities for a hell of a lot more
then four hours, so maybe a nap might do her some good. If anything she
definitely needed to be completely alert the next time she met up with
the Marguis.

[..] Two hours later

"What's going on?" Avi's voice asked over the comm.

Montana ****vered at the damp coldness that seemed to permeate into
every ****e of her body. She was totally alone and the darkness pressing
in on her felt like a heavy weight on her chest making it hard to
breathe.

"I'm outside and its cold!" She answered tersely, snapping around at a
faint scurrying sound that was coming a bit too close. A creepy tingle
raced up and down her spine, she wasn't alone after all. She needed to
get inside somehow find some light but the thought didn't cheer her as
she moved through the inky dankness. Inside was not a good place but
she couldn't really remember why or even where she was. The sounds all
around her now unnerved Montana and she clutched her phaser rifle
tightly. If only she hadn't taken that fall and lost her lantern...

"So, why don't you go inside?" He asked and she could almost hear the
smile in his voice. Right now it was the only thing she had to hang
onto.

"Because I'll lose you." She whispered without thinking

"You'll never lose me." He murmured softly, the comforting sound of his
voice was like a ****ny beacon warming her in the black gloom. Lose him!
The thought terrified her beyond all belief.

"Don't say that..." Something bumped her from behind and Montana
quickly jerked away spinning around ready to fire. Then she was grabbed
her from behind something pinning her arms and the rifle dropped from
her hands. Fighting to free herself she stumbled on a rock losing her
balance and hit the ground hard. It took a second to recover but
Montana managed to wrestle free and suddenly found herself blinking in
confusion.

"What the." She was now on the floor in her quarters and the shredded
bedding lay tangled around her in a heap. Still half in the grip of her
vivid dream Montana yelped and jerked away when something touched her
hair and she swung out her arm only to yelp even louder when it felt
like a thousand tiny knives sliced into her flesh.

"Lights!" She hollered uncontrollably.

Taking several breaths to help her focus the redhead turned and almost
bumped noses with Quincy who was sitting on the edge of the bed. Natty
sat next to him and the two Giant Green Iguanas gazed at her with
baleful yellow eyes.

"Jeezus you two, you damned near gave me a heart attack!" Receiving a
vigorous head bob from the big male she reached up and stroked the
scaly head. The pounding in her chest slowed and after a few deep
breaths her breathing began to return to normal "Whew! Now that was a
wild dream!" She muttered to the lizard with a relieved chuckle, "And
you guys need to quit invading them!"

Inspecting the stinging on her arm she noticed streaks of blood where
she'd come in contact with the razor sharp scales on the big lizard.
"Well, nothing a dermal regenerator won't fix." Turning to check the
time she blinked in surprise it'd only been two hours, but it was
enough. Her mind flitted over the images still fresh in her mind and
she inhaled sharply then slowly exhaling enabling her to bring
everything into focus. It was only a dream, but it had been so real.
Eyeing the two Igs as they eyed her back she knew it probably wouldn't
have been so bad if she hadn't had some help.

"You know 'kids' you have your own beds, you certainly don't need to
use mine!" She snorted with a yawn. Untangling her legs from the
tattered sheets Montana let out a sigh inspecting the torn material.
She'd obviously put up one hell of a fight, yawning again she began to
stretch out the kinks and rub the sore spots where she'd landed.

[..]

Steam rose in filmy swirls and Montana ****vered uncontrollably for a
moment before letting out a sigh as the heat of the hot shower began to
warm her cold body.

Sometimes she had the weirdest dreams and this just added to the list
of the more stranger ones. Why would she be afraid of losing Avi? Now
if Georgie was around the fiery tinkerbell would probably try to
analyze it and say her dreams were a by product of her deep seated
fears coming out, which of course losing Avi was one of them. It's not
like she didn't deserve it that's for sure, she had pushed him away
more times then she could count. Yet he always refused to go, using her
weaknesses and constantly pu****ng back, until she caved in. A frown
marred the pretty face as the unbidden thought popped in her head that
maybe one day he wouldn't push back.

Shaking the gloomy thought away, Montana leaned against the tile wall
unwilling to leave the blessed warmth surrounding her. Unfortunately,
as much as she was enjoying the shower she had a job to do. Something
had been bothering ever her since they'd gotten the orders to go to
Marin. There had been no mention at all about them exploring the
original accident site. In fact the orders distinctly excluded any
mention of the cavern. They were ordered to find out what had set the
beacon off *only*. Of course retrieving the shuttle was a normal
retrieval procedure in these kind of cir***stances.

Montana had read every bit of information she could find on the
incident and had stumbled across several restricted files that not even
she or Avi had clearance for. Because of her duties at HHQ and being
attached to the Ambassadorial Staff she had a clearance then most
Security Officers so was surprised when she ran into the blocks.
Knowing how closed the Lieutenant was on the subject this had naturally
raised some questions in her mind. Her curiosity really became aroused
when she got a encoded priority one message on a closed channel about
the Doctor's father poking in things he shouldn't be and that maybe
Montana should consider looking into the new doctor's extra curricular
activities. The First Officer knew the CMO and the Science Officer had
struck up a friend****p so it was probably innocent curiosity on the
Doctor's part. But it was best not to take any chances and she would
have to look into it.

But the situation had changed. None of the readings from Starfleet, the
****p, nor the planet jived and with several of the crew severely
wounded or dead, and then the unexpected appearance of humanoid and
unhumanoid life, it gave her grounds for further investigation. Yes, it
was definitely time to go to work.

Mentally assembling a team her thoughts hesitated at the Doctor. Would
the woman be up to doubling as a science officer? It was obvious she
had a good eye for scientific detail. But would she have the strength
to keep up in the caverns, she was rather petite actually, kind of weak
looking in a girlie sort of way. The big question though, would she
have the nerve to fire if they were attacked. Her thoughts turned to
her best friend and the edge of her lips quirked upward. The little
southern was living proof that dynamite really once did come in small
packages, so she guessed there was hope for the Doctor yet.

Drying herself off then donning the dull gray ground forces uniform the
First Officer sat at her desk and sent a message to Ury to meet her in
her office in 15 minutes.

[..] 15 minutes later

"I was just debating on whether to wake you or not?" Ury said as he
entered the First Officers sanctum.

"Why?" Montana asked her head snapping up from the view screen

"It appears the Captain and his team are following the same route you
and the Doctor took to the castle."

Montana cursed under her breath and the Security Chief smirked at her
mumbled words about the Captain getting in trouble and needing a damn
leash.

"So far we've maintained a lock on them but I'm not sure what will
happen when they...." The tall redhead raised a brow noting the uniform
the First Officer wore. "You planning on going somewhere?" Ury asked
warily.

"Yup!" Montana said without looking up.

[..]

"Not to be disrespectful Commander but that is totally insane!" Ury
exclaimed. "You can't go back down there, the Captain ordered you
to..."

"Stay off the bridge for 4 hours!" Montana interjected with a sly
smile. "I'm not on the bridge, and I have no intention of going on the
bridge. You're doing a fine job Lieutenant, and I expect you to
continue doing a fine job so that we may all get back to the ****p in
one piece."

Ury Rogan stared dumbfounded at the woman. "Begging your pardon
Commander but have you lost your mind! That's what this is, that
Marquis fellow did something to you!"

The XO chuckled with a rare smile, "No, actually I'm in full control of
my faculties, but thank you for asking."

The Security Chief leaned back in the chair and stared at Montana with
narrowed eyes, "You know something don't you?"

Montana also leaned back returning his hard gaze, "Ury, it's what I
don't know that's bugging me! I'm not sure how much you know about the
accident that occurred here concerning Lieutenant Istria, but something
happened and it was hushed up for some reason. I have a feeling that
there could be some answers to what's going on there.

"Considering the situation Montana I know I don't have to tell you how
dangerous and foolhardy this is? Besides you're exhausted! If anything
I should be leading this mission!"

With a sigh she leaned forward, "Try and put yourself in my shoes! I
commanded that away mission and I ended up like some simpleton off
lolly gagging around in some castle then to find myself back on board
waking up from a bad dream, only it's not a dream, it's real and
several of the team is wounded or dead. I don't like writing those kind
of letters home Ury! I take it very personally!" She said in a deadly
tone. "What would you do?"

She watched him let out a deep sigh as he crossed his arms. Mixed
emotions crossed his face as he pondered the question, "I don't like
it! It's way too dangerous! You have no idea what you are going into!"

"Trust me, the team I've selected can handle itself quite well. Cenji,
Frank, Kuma and Moran they know their stuff and don't have a problem
with firing first and asking questions later. The only weak link is the
Doctor, hopefully if we get into a situation she'll know what to do.
This isn't a diplomatic mission Ury, it's for facts and finding things
as is in our missing crewmembers."

Montana let out a sigh her face softening with a sad frown, "Hopefully
Martin and Lewis are still alive. Dammit!" Her fist hit the desk with a
loud thud, "If only I hadn't sent them back..."

The two officers fell silent for several moments each deep in their own
thoughts. Finally Montana met Ury's gaze. ". I want you to send down as
much help as A'Kora needs to get that shuttle up and running as quickly
as possible. Have Zefla assemble a full assault team and keep them on
alert. If there's even a squeak from the Captain or his team I want
them there immediately. Once we are trans****ted into the cavern we'll
use beacons to set up a trans****ter grid to strengthen the signal. It
will give us all something to lock onto. If my suspicions are correct
though we will be knocking on the Marquis' back door before you know
it!"

The Security Officer eyed her in frustration and Montana half-smiled,
"Ury, I know you want to go, I can see it in your face, but I need you
here! I need your eyes to tell me where Avi is at all times."

He raised a brow at her use of the Captain's first name and the
redheaded woman sighed, "You know what I mean! Now, I've already noted
everything in the log and I'm taking full responsibility for this.
Don't worry, we are going in locked and loaded with enough firepower to
hopefully match anything we run into to."

"I still don't like it! And this is so out of character for you
Montana! Flaunting orders and regulations?"

"Lieutenant, your objections have been duly noted! As for flaunting
orders, I was a good girl, I took my nap, it just wasn't as long as
expected. Plus, I've already checked the regulations and because of the
situation I'm fully within my rights to investigate further. Dead,
wounded and missing crewman pushed it right over the line!" Rising she
headed towards the door.

"A slim technicality I'm sure!" Ury answered with a disapproving snort
and followed her out.

{Tag: Carys, so is the Doctor game for another outing?}
