Subject: [WEB] - JP - Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Bar
Day 23
Gala Event
[SNIP]
Fi nodded to Kysen as the sense of foreboding faded. "Fair, He's gone
now.
Let's go..I think I need a drink?"
[END SNIP]
As Fi lead the way, the noise of the gala seemed to dim, as did the
lighting. Not really taking notice at first Kysen found herself
stopped by
a handsome young man.
"Kysen, my dearest; so good to see you again." The man said with a sly
grin.
There was a wrong-ness about the man that she couldn't place. She
didn't
recognize him, though he seemed familiar, as did his voice.
He began to walk around her, and then she noticed that the two of them
seemed to be in a pool of light, while the rest of the room was in a
dim
shadow. And yet, none of the guests seemed concerned or even noticing
the
darkness.
"It has been a long time, hasn't it? Eight years? I must say that it
does
my heart good to see that you still live, despite all my best efforts."
He
chuckled to himself.
Kysen froze for a second as memory swirled up and forward and her body
remembered before her consciousness did.
She felt her knees weaken, and surprisingly her joints ached, as if
with him
standing before her..her body was reliving their last meeting.
*Breathe dear one* She heard in her head as her body once again was
flooded
with the warm love and comfort she had grown use too.
Kysen did not know how she managed to look at this..person who did not
remind her of anyone she knew...but his voice..the mannerisms...his
movements..his very essence all spoke loudly of....
"YOU!" she softly gasped out, surprised she could speak at all. The
memories
flooding through her nearly overwhelming her.
He paused and looked at her, his eyes predatory. "I see you still have
some
intelligence left." He advanced towards her. "You are weak and
pitiful,
child. A shame, in a way, that the gods have been reduced so much that
they
must use such servants as they can find. Still, you were useful to me,
were
you not?"
Kysen sucked in her breath as his comment struck close to home. Didn't
she
often whisper that to herself as she struggled with what they asked of
her?
*Relax dear one, let me remind you of your worth* the soft voice washed
over
her. Kysen felt the memories of so many events flow through her and
she did
feel strengthened.
She looked back to the one who stood before her. She had seem him
somewhere..everywhere in fact. His face was plastered everywhere.and
yet.he
was not who he pretended to be.
"Never underestimate the Gods." She retorted, a bit of her valor
returning.
She knew their strengths and knew that somehow things would be righted.
She only wished she fully believed the words she lashed at him.
Somehow
trying to be brave and hoping their effects would wash off on her.
"Me? Underestimate those above and below?" He leaned in close to her,
a
wicked smile on his beautiful face. "Never, my sweet. I know full
well
what they are capable of, at least, when they had power."
He pulled back, lifting a glass of champagne from a nearby table. "But
that
was a long, long time ago. Their millions of wor****ppers have dwindled
and
died, to what..a few thousand? Not even enough for one god, much less
the
multitude that they are."
He sighed as he took a sip of the drink. "And now it's just down to
you,
and a few friends you have, here and elsewhere." His eyes sparkled
darkly as
he looked up at her. "It would be a shame for them to come to harm,
more
hurt that you are responsible for."
Kysen visibly blanched with that last statement. The others. Those
that
she had caused the death of 8 years past, and...FI..OH she could not
let
anything happen to her! She had so much to make up for, she could not
let
anything happen to her.
That she has been given tutor****p over her, she was to teach Fi the
ways and
help her learn what it was that her Goddess wished from her.
What kind of guardian would that be? One that allowed her dearest and
most
cherished pupil perish under such horrid conditions?
Kysen swallowed her fear and the hot burning bile that was quickly
rising up
her throat. She could not show him how much she feared him, for to
show
him that..would weaken her further.
She tried to stare him down, but it was no use, it was as if he had the
window into her soul, and knew she only pretended to be what she was.
"This is between you and me. No one else need be involved." She weakly
challenged him. Altho, she rather it be her, than her beloved Fi.
She wondered just as she heard his evil chuckled, where was Lucien?
"Oh, not, it is much too late for that kind of talk. You should have
thought about that before you came back to the world. Friends, family,
new
acquaintances." He leaned in close and whispered. "Everyone you've
touched
in some way." He grinned as he saw that he touched a nerve within her.
"Yesss." He hissed. "It is a delight that your Fionula will not die
when
I'm through with her. I shall enjoy her agony when she sees her silky
smooth skin is no longer her own."
He grabbed Kysen by her arm, clawed nails breaking through the skin he
wore,
and piercing Kysen's flesh. "But, come; let us see what allies you
have
gathered since we last met. Let us see if your goddess' faith in you
is at
all deserved."
Kysen let out a soft cry of pain and astonishment as his claws pinched
her
skin. She felt a sudden warming sensation and then felt as if her skin
crawled.
His grip tightened as he involuntarily swore. Kysen saw what looked
like
s****s sliding and weaving along her arm onto her attackers arm and
moving
randomly up it.
The light that seemed to encircle the pair seemed to flicker and dim
and
within moments the room faded back from the darkened shadows to the
soft
lighting.
"Interesting little one." He hissed once more between his teeth. "I
see you
came prepared."
Kysen wrenched her arm away in an attempt to flee from him, felt the
long
claws rake up her arm. Immediately she felt the stinging effects and
the
blood begin to seep to the surface.
Realizing she was free, she stepped back and away from him and then
turned
and rushed into the sea of people before her. As she moved quickly to
safety, and in a panic search for Fionula she heard his cackling in her
ears.
"Let the fun begin." She heard as his voice somehow echoed in her ears.
A pulse of power washed out from Hau-Hra, sweeping unnoticed over the
guests
and staff of the Gala. Silence reigned as the music and conversation
died.
[TAGS- KK- ready for that JP with Fi and Lucien? MICHAEL - Time for
our
little JP with Kayn and Kysen. Get ready everyone one! Here they
come!
[SUMMARY]
Kysen is stopped while following Fionula to the bar and she is accosted
by
someone that she sort of recognizes. Once she does..they have a
challenge
of sorts, with Kysen managing to break free and flee into the crowd to
what
she hopes is safety.
