[SNIP]
The heated words and emotions matched the ferocity of the building
storm,
the trees now bending deeply as the wind beat around them. The surf
swelled
and pounded the shores...
He heard the crack of lightning and the boom of the thunder as he tried
to
stay on his feet. He looked up into the pitch black skies and knew what
was
happening right before it did.
[END SNIP]
As the storm blew in and roared on shore the three sea dragons dove
deep to
wait out the storm. Dru was very upset that her rider was so angry and
she
flipped her tail in response to the feelings that flowed through her
rider.
Dru did not like the feelings she was having about her clutch mate. She
did
understand he had nothing to do with her rider feeling so out of
sorts..but
he should at least try to control his rider better.
Dru dove deeper and swam as fast as she could and kept herself busy by
practicing moves that Adas had shown her while they use to spend some
time
alone while their riders did the same.
Suddenly Dru felt cold, empty and a blackness creep over her. She did
not
know at first what was wrong. She reached out to her rider and felt
nothing.
<*RIDER!*> Dru wailed and the echoes of her fear and anguish rocked the
two
male dragons within her circle and the waves of terror rippled out from
her.
Dru began the ascent to the surface to search for and find her rider
and
make sure she was ok.
<*YOU! It was YOU!*> she lashed out at Rrone. <*YOUR rider did this,
all
becoz... coz *> Dru snapped closed her thoughts and concentrated on the
only
thing that was im****tant...getting to her rider's side.
******
Raven stared stunned at the palm tree that had been struck by
lightening and
had crashed down on the two young riders just seconds before. His ears
were
still ringing from the crack of thunder so he shook his head trying to
clear
it and moved as quickly as he could towards the smoldering palm tree.
It was
thanks to the rain, which fell in heavily curtains that the tree was
not
blazing with fire. As best as he could with his one good arm he began
to
search between the fronds for the other two.
It did not take him long to find the leg of one of the riders. Raven
moved
more of the fronds out of the way - it was Dakhrau. Dead or alive,
Raven
could not tell. He tried to pull the body out, and as he worked, he
noticed
that as quickly as the storm had approached and unleashed its savagery,
it
now seemed to blow over and dissipate as quickly.
Hearing a low deep moan Raven let out a sight of relief. Then he
continued
to poke and pull until he got Dakhrau out from under the fronds. From
what
Raven could see, Dakhrau seemed to have, apart from scratches and
bruises,
no severe injuries or broken bones. When he tried to ****ft Dakhrau in a
more
comfortable position, the rider gave out another moan and opened his
eyes.
He tried to sit up but was held back gently but firmly by Raven who
shook
his head warningly.
<What happened? Are you ok?> Rrone asked earnestly as he was glad to
feel
his rider again.
<I'm fine.just fine> Dakhrau replied although he was not sure about any
of
the others.
He saw Raven's questioning look but didn't know why.
"What....happened? Dakhrau asked weakly, still not sure what had
happened.
He rubbed his head, as though expecting a severe headache. He had none.
Moving his head he looked around.
"Where is Dylan?"
Raven ignored the question and repeated his own. "I said: How do you
feel?
Do you think anything is broken?"
"No...no, I don't think so. I'm OK." Dakhrau answered after he mentally
checked his body. "Where is Dylan, and what happened?" he asked again.
"Not sure to both your questions. You were the first I found." Raven
answered.
"All I saw was a blinding flash; heard the crack and could only watch
the
tree fall on you two."
"No, I shoved her aside..out of the way of the tree." Dakhrau said
puzzled
as to why she was not where she was supposed to be. Dakhrau sat up
ignoring
Raven's concerned frown. "She must be somewhere over there." he pointed
in
the direction he remembered shoving Dylan.
Raven walked in the appointed direction and started to search for
Dylan.
Dakhrau stood and although slightly wobbly at first began to help him.
Together they both searched the area near and around the tree. Dylan
could
not be found. There were no signs she had been there and perhaps
crawled
off. Both began to worry, that perhaps she was still under the tree.
"Let's retrace the steps." Dakhrau said as he studied out the lay out
of the
scene. "We were here..arguing, and I looked up and shoved her..this
way." He
acted out his moves.
"But there is no sign of her." Raven counseled. "So that means for what
ever
reason.. she got pinned under the tree"
"But I." Dakhrau began again.
"Or she is hiding." Raven stated. "Do you really think she is hiding?"
"No." Dakhrau answered and they both went back to the fronds of the
tree,
and began again to search within the branches for any sign of her.
"Got her!" Raven called out. "You will have to try to pull her out, I
don't
think I can." He replied. "I can hold the fronds back though."
Dakhrau nodded and between the two they managed to get her legs
unpinned
from a large set of fronds and pulled her out from under the palm tree.
She lay as if she were sleeping, a small gash by the side of her head
indicated that she had perhaps struck a rock when she fell.
"Let's get her back to the fire." Raven replied. "Perhaps it will be a
good
thing for all of us to rest."
Dakhrau nodded and bent over and picked her up and together they began
their
way back to the small camp they had started.
"Is everyone all right?" Corwin's voice boomed out.
"OVER HERE!" Raven called out as he heard the rumbling voice of Corwin
make
its way down the beach.
They met half way up the beach and Raven was glad to see Corwin and the
others. He was not feeling well, and his shoulder was killing him.
Keer with grim determination moved past the others to take Dylan into
his
own arms. Without a word he gently rescued her and cradled her in his
own
arms.
He glared at Dakhrau and then over to Raven the anger and hint of
malice
evident in his eyes. Turning his attention to Dylan, he whispered in
her
ears words that only she could hear.
Just then Dru followed by the other 2 dragons bound across the sands,
Dru
hurrying to her rider's side. The sudden absence of her and the
coldness she
felt had her scurrying as quickly as she could.
Now she was there, pu****ng her snout against the still form which was
now
held by Keer.
<*Wake up sister*> Wailed Dru and sat right there, laying her head on
Keer's arms as she ****ged Dylan again and then sighed deeply and got as
close as she could to her bond mate.
"Darn these bloody lizards..." Raven started to swear. <*Lir, tell
this
overgrown puppy to get away from her rider.*>
<"But...">
<*Don't BUT me mister... She might be doing more harm then good*>
<She is just sleeping> Rrone said trying to comfort his clutch mate. He
did
not wish to see Dru in pain, but then he was also not happy that she
would
think his rider had anything to do with this.
<*YOUR rider did this*> Lamented Dru. <*I know humans get foolish and
yell
at one another, but why did he have to hit her with the tree?*> Dru
wept
softly.
<HE did not!> Argued Rrone. <The storm did it. MY rider tried to save
her,
he pushed her away!> He defended his rider. Why just look at him Rrone
thought, he does not look happy at all. And the other rider, he looks
terrible too.
<*He should not have pushed her, she carries life within. She could be
hurt*> Dru expressed her fear. Adas' rider would not forgive her if
anything
happened to her bond mate. And would Adas be mad at her too? Dru did
not
know; right now all she knew was she did not like feeling so alone.
[TAG - Everyone! - Dru just let out the secret... Alex and Han we can
try to
work again and finish up what we had tried to start...sorry for the
delay in
this..
[SUMMARY]
The Sea-dragons head to deep water to escape the storm, and Raven
witnesses
the lightening striking the tree and watching in horror as the tree
falls on
Dylan.
Raven makes his way to the tree and finds Dakhrau. Making sure all is
well
they begin to search for the missing Dylan.
Finding her unconscious..they begin their way up the beach only to run
into
a rescue party. Keer seeing her being carried rushes to her side and
takes
her in his arms trying to bring her back.
Dru and the other sea-dragons reappear and Dru angry at Rrone for the
fight
between their riders lets Dylan's secret slip out.

MD4
Planet Side
<snip from Carys's post
Meanwhile, in the clearing...
After three or four aborted leads, Istria was fairly sure she'd found
the
right path to go down. Or in this case up. You see, she was walking up
a
hill right now, not the simplest feat considering she was looking at
down
at her PADD every couple of steps to ensure success. Something that
was
proving elusive at this very moment.
"Captain." Istria said, tapping her badge.
Yes, Lt, came the response.
"I think I've finally found the trail."
Good, keep going. Let me know when you're close. I'll meet you
wherever
it leads... He started, and then stopped abruptly as another voice
came
over
the comm.
Hello, Captain. I have been waiting for you for some time.
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Marquis, your host. And
electricity shot up Istria's spine.
<end snip
It was him!
Suppressed memories from years ago came cra****ng into place with a
force
that almost brought Istria to her knees. As it was, she trembled
visibly,
earning a concerned look from the Captain.
She bit her lip, and struggled to keep her gaze neutral.
Those 'feelings' and dreams she'd been having - he'd been trying to
talk to
her...
Marquis... She'd loved him. It had been a long time ago...
****
[Time: a VERY long time ago... When Istria was a promising young
Ensign,
leading a 'routine' field trip/survey with a group of Starfleet cadets
and
students]
He walked into the bedroom they shared, carrying a platter filled with
different fruits, vegetables, and some other delectables. She pushed
herself up and smiled at him. Marquis walked around the bed, placed
the
platter to her right while kissing her gently on her lips. She looked
at
him with both her dark blue eyes and smiled lovingly. She loved when
he
returned like this.
"You're awake." He said, less like a question. "I'm glad."
"Me too." She said, sipping at the nectar he'd brought her.
"I was thinking, we should go for a walk around the ridge tonight at
sunset
again." Again, not a question.
"I was thinking the same thing. I love it there."
"I know how you do."
"It reminds me of home."
"I've never been there, but I can only imagine it does."
"I will take you, some day."
"I longingly await the days." He said, again kissing her lips.
Istria smiled, and relaxed into his arms. She had changed so much in
these
short weeks. Her scientific findings had been electrifying - she had
spent
every spare moment analysing her data on the new ore, writing up her
re****t
on its potential as an energy source. This was going to be her chance
to
make her name!
Her work had filled the long hours when Marquis had to be away from
her.
But, oh, it was the nights she lived for.
"Tomorrow's the last day of the survey," she said.
"Hmmmm? Is it?" Marquis tried to silence her with another kiss.
"And afterwards I'm going to tell them," Istria continued. "I'm going
to
tell Starfleet I'm staying here with you."
Marquis sat uncomfortably in stunned silence. He thought her project
would
last much longer. It felt like she'd only just gotten there. "I truly
don't know what to say, Istria."
"Say nothing, it's one of the few wonderful choices I can make, and I
want
to. I want to be with you."
He was washed over in happiness. He loved having her there. She was a
ray of
light on their dark corner of the planet. Since they'd moved, the
people
had been complaining of the constant intrusion of Starfleet on their
planet,
and he'd needed to do something. Meeting Istria had simply been a
wonderful
by-product. He'd heard rumors of another ****p landing at the far end of
the
plain, but no one could confirm at this point. He'd send out another
team in
the morning, once she'd left his room. Why ruin the night?
"Tomorrow morning, I am going out to cave at the top of the hill to
finish
my research," said Istria. "Then afterwards, come back early, and we
can
take a walk through the flower garden at the back of the castle?"
"I'd love that, now and forever." He said aloud before he'd even had
the
chance to think about it. He wanted nothing more than to be with her,
so why
shouldn't he say it?
[The next morning]
The next morning Istria awoke earlier than was her habit, and left
Marquis
sleeping. He would leave soon, anyway - he was always gone before dawn.
She
pulled on her uniform and, after kissing him lightly on the forehead,
slipped away.
[Later]
Istria could easily have allowed herself to be distracted from her work
that
cay, but she showed her customary attention to detail. She had checked
the
explosive charges herself, and only when she was satisfied that 'her'
cadets
knew *exactly* what they were doing would she allow them to go ahead
and
plant the charges.
It was a repeat of a procedure they'd carried out several times before
-
nothing should have been able to go wrong - but it did.
Two cadets were killed instantly by the rockfall, a further cadet and a
student were badly injured. Istria herself escaped relatively lightly -
and
even she had spent several weeks unconscious, and months confined to a
high-tech Starfleet medical facility. High-security, too, had she known
it.
She had nearly lost her eye in the accident. Her doctors had told her
that
it could be 'fixed', but she had chosen to have it removed. As a
punishment
to herself - for allowing those in her care to be harmed.
That decision, too, had counted against her in the months of inquiries
that
followed. It proved that she was mentally unstable, you see.
Istria was a tormented soul - she *knew* the accident was her
responsibility, and things like that just didn't happen when she was in
charge. Somehow she had let herself be distracted on Marin. But by
what?
They'd told her that amnesia was very common after accidents such as
hers,
and not to worry about it. The story about the fate of her companions
had
also change - when she asked later, she was told they had all died.
She cried for days on end. Death amongst the crew wasn't just
unacceptable,
but that she had no one to talk to about it only exacerbated the
feelings.
All requests to contact the inhabitants on Marin had been denied, not
that
she'd know how to contact them anyway.
"Lt." A voice said from the doorway to her quarters. She looked up
and
found a young Lt. (jg) looking down at her. "Your presence is
requested at
the Admiral's office today at 1730 on level 7."
"Aye, Lt." She said weakly from her bed. "1730. I will be there."
"Good. See you then." He said, walking out the door. It was already
1500.
She needed to start her day. Looking around, she found her clothes,
neatly
aligned in her closet, not that she remembered putting them away the
night
before. 'Must be the amnesia again. I really need to kick that,' she
murmured, with a cynical smile.
When Istria arrived at the Admiral's office, she had already written
off her
career. No one did what she had without the most serious of
consequences.
But the worst Starfleet could do was nothing to the way Istria was
puni****ng
herself.
Time: 2 hours earlier
Place: Medbay, standing over Istria's bed
"No, Admiral Stark, I've given her enough sedative. Her eyes
fluttering has
more to do the type of REM sleep she's in than that she'll be waking
up.
Her body still isn't resting well, but ultimately, I expect the new
memories
will take hold. She doesn't seem to be rejecting them. We'd see that.
Plus, her Bajorian physiology makes her more susceptible to hypnotic
suggestion."
"Doctor, you said that about the Romulans, and what have we seen of
that?"
The obviously irritated admiral remarked. She was instrumental to
advancing
his meticulous plants. He'd spent years building up these painstaking
plans. There were very few people at her level who were to be
transferred
to front line ****ps soon. If she was to be of any use to him, this
situation couldn't even be a distant memory. She needed to think it
was her
fault. She needed to believe that she had failed everyone, and because
of
it, her life was on the line. That she'd never get another chance
because
of it. Then, when she was on the front line, she'd be primed for
implosion.
He was counting on that.
"Yes, I did, and we don't know what has come of that, yet, sir."
"Which to me, means nothing. Nothing has happened with your brilliant
science. I would hate to see that happen again." He said, with a not
so
veiled attempt at a threat. "She will need new memories. And not
happy
ones, either. Am I clear?"
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Now, I need to find out who the captain is of the Capricorn and
have
him replaced. Excuse me." The admiral said, walking out.
The doctor watched him walk out, and after sighing, he started on his
procedure. "Alright, Ms. Talara, let's give you some new memories..."
he
said, as she moaned from the bed. He knew it was part of the process.
REM
sleep wasn't entirely without outside stimuli.
*****
Time: Now
Place: back on Marin
Istria was frozen in place. She'd heard his voice. It was dizzying.
So
familiar! How did she know his voice? She'd never seen or heard him
before....
Except that SHE HAD! All of a sudden, images flashed before her eyes,
like
lightning splitting a tree in half. She remembered laying in bed with
him.
Walking down the river bank. Watching the sunset with him atop the
ridge,
then sitting there deep into the night. His tenderness. His voice.
She
remembered him like it was yesterday they'd seen each other.
And he'd been calling to her.
Well, now she was back. But how had they been separated? What had
happened,
and why?
"Istria?" he said, softly.
"Yes, I'm back," she replied, her hand going self-consciously to the
patch
covering her eye. She took a step closer to the direction she *knew*
she'd
find him.
"Lieutenant?" Avi asked, sharply.
Istria shook her head as if he were an annoying distraction. Then she
turned
to face him.
"Captain, this is im****tant," she said. "I'm ."
Her voice trailed off. Then: "sorry.." she said, softly, as she turned
and
ran, ran down the hill. If she'd been running any faster, she'd
certainly
have fallen. No, she would get there.
She arrived and stood before them all. Shocked at who she saw before
her.
He still looked exactly the same as she thought she remembered him.
He on the other hand felt the need to wipe his eyes. If it were
possible,
he'd be sweating through his clothing for all to see. Her beauty still
was
just as present as it had been all those years before. He still saw
the
girl before him that he had when she'd left that morning to look at the
mountain. Had he been awake, he would have warned her about the people
he'd
seen. At first, he'd assumed they were a part of her team. But, he'd
known everyone there. Those had been new people. Or more
appropriately,
those had been different people. People intending to cause harm. And
harm,
they had.
Now, look at her. She was still beautiful. He would do anything for
her.
All she had to do was ask. She'd been moving closer with every moment
he'd
been watching her. "Istria."
"Marquis," She responded.
Avi simply stood watching the two. He knew what it looked like, and
yet
still didn't understand it all. This would make for one hell of a
re****t.
If they all survived it.
*****
[Elsewhere].
"Yes, they split up." Sybil said as the one on her right whispered
something. "Oh? One group is in here in the castle? Drive them out
to the
clearing. We'll finish them all off there." She said, tapping her
finger
tips together. She didn't want to soil the castle. She'd like it to
be
clean if she ever wanted to return here.

"Counselor, you're hedging, get on with it!"
Glancing again at the woman next to her Georgia sighed. "They re****ted
seein' Tribbles there Suh!"
"What???" Brant blinked in surprise, his jaw dropping slightly.
"Tribbles Suh!"
Angel finally looked up and nodded in agreement.
The Captain leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms with a grim
smirk he
gazed at the women through half closed eyes. "Please tell me I didn't
hear
you correctly."
"Capt'n, ya shore did."
"That's not possible." Freda interjected turning her predatory eyes on
the
small redhead. "The Klingons destroyed their homeworld 200 years ago,
then
sent out warbirds to all parts of the galaxy to eradicate the species."
"The references we found were only a couple of years old!" Angel
blurted
out, coming to the Counselor's aid. Brant's head snapped around and the
young woman's eyes widened at the intensity of the now amber gaze.
"Sir."
She added quietly.
"Sir," the Science Officer chimed in, "Who's to say the Klingons
actually
found the 'homeworld' of the Tribbles as it were. Their reproductive
capabilities are well known, but what was thought to be the homeworld
could
have just been an overpopulated planet. This though would naturally
lead the
Klingons to believe that's what it was. In actuality because of their
reproductive cycles I don't believe the Tribble homeworld would be such
in
that they would have natural predators that would curtail the
population and
keep their numbers down." Sajin said thoughtfully, falling silent at
the
possibilities as he tapped furiously on his padd."
"And just what does this all have to do with us having a missing First
Officer?"
<end snip>
"Dunno, but it's interesting, isn't it!" said Angel, earning an icy
glare
from the Captain.
Undeterred, she continued. "We could have found the Tribble homeworld!
Wouldn't that be cool!"
"Cool indeed," said the Captain, his voice dripping sarcasm.
"But we could wipe out the whole species - for good! Think of the kudos
we'd
get for doing that! I mean, that *you'd* get!" said Angel, trying to
appeal
to the Captain's vanity.
But to no avail.
"It *is* an interesting situation, though," Sajin interjected, quietly,
looking up from his padd.
"See!" Angel pounced on this comment from an unexpected ally.
"If we could discover the Tribbles' natural predator on their
homeworld, it
could have great implications for the species' control. Not just there,
but
wherever they might turn up," Sajin continued.
"Yeah, kill the little bastards!" agreed Angel.
With a pained expression at Angel's interruptions, the Science Officer
tried
to conclude his case in a calm and scientific manner.
"We don't have much else to go on, Sir," he said. "It could be a
productive
avenue for investigation..."
