Day 3
Morning

It was unnerving enough being summoned to the Wingleader's office, but
Eth'n always had a hard time saying the right things to women in
powerful positions. That's what had gotten him in so much trouble in
Telnor, though he was glad that the junior queenrider had been so
understanding. He sighed as his thoughts once again turned to the woman
he had once loved, Maedralyn. Shaking himself out of the reverie was
difficult, especially when he had to face his current situation. So
much of it reminded him of the other, and brought back painful feelings
and guilt.

He didn't know if Katrina and Rowan would have him thrown out of the
warren because of his stupidity, which had nearly cost them Cleft's
junior queenrider, Caly, but he wouldn't blame them if they did. They
had been nice enough to give him a day to recover from his injuries,
though he hadn't gotten much rest, as he'd stayed glued to Caly's side
in the medical center while the young girl recovered. He was thankful
that she hadn't lost her arm, and he knew that much of it had to do
with
Andorra's "special healing talent" though he really didn't understand
what that meant.

With both the senior and junior queenriders in the warren in the
medical
center, (Cynthia with her newborn twins, and Caly with her injuries),
Rowan and Katrina were the next highest officials in the warren. If
they decided they no longer needed, or wanted, the former Telnor
trainer, then Eth'n would have to petition another warren to accept him
as a transfer. To be honest, he didn't really want to leave Cleft, and
he was sure that Warton wouldn't. Warton spent a lot of his time with
the warren females, especially Moon Dancer, and would certainly not
want
to be parted from them.

Eth'n cleared his throat as he approached the open doorway of the
warren
offices. A cool breeze from the passing night still lingered deep in
the Cleft, but that would soon change as the sun found its way into the
valley, bani****ng all shadows. If it weren't for the river running
through the gorge this area would be as parched as the surrounding
desert and just as inhospitable.

The door was pushed open wider and Eth'n was greeted by the smiling
face
of Rowan. "Good, come in."

Eth'n felt himself relax as he saw that Kat also seemed congenial this
morning. So, he wasn't being thrown out of the warren... yet.

"We've been talking to some of the Nomads, trying to glean some
information from their legends and stories about the Nadusi," Kat began
without preamble, "And now we'd like your story, so we can compare it
with what we've learned."

Eth'n shrugged, but realized that wouldn't satisfy either of them, so
he
began the tale, which he was loath to tell, giving as little credit to
himself, and the glory to Warton for saving both Caly and his own hide.
He tried to recall all he could about the Nadusi. Unlike Andahar who
had listened to his tale without interruption, both Kat and Rowan
jumped
in with questions whenever they didn't understand something or wanted
more details. Eth'n found that he had much preferred the way Andahar
had listened.

Eth'n frowned as Kat once again interrupted with a question. She was
jotting down points from what he was telling them, and when he had
finally come to the conclusion of the story, she compared her list
against another that was on the desk.

"Yes, it fits. Must be the same creature. I wonder where it has been
hiding all this time?"

"And why?" Rowan asked softly.

"Why what?" Eth'n didn't follow their train of thought at all.

"Why has it been in hiding?" Rowan asked, "Why did it go into hiding in
the first place?"

Eth'n shrugged, "Maybe it's a cyclical thing -- you know like we have
seasons? It hibernates every so often for some period of time?"

Kat nodded, "So, perhaps we could just wait it out and hope it goes to
sleep again soon?"

Rowan shook her head, "No, the old tales tell how Nadusi almost killed
all of the people and only a handful were left. We can't let it do that
again."

"But how can we possibly fight it?" Kat asked. "Eth'n just confirmed
what Memnon said... dragon fire only seemed to make it stronger."

"I don't know, but we've got to find a way."

[There's a new dragon that just arrived. From Telnor.] Warton suddenly
announced. Eth'n noticed at once that Rowan and Katrina were both
getting similar messages from their dragons. [He'll be landing on the
upper green shortly.]

<From Telnor?> Eth'n couldn't help wanting to go and meet them and hear
news from his former home.

"Looks like we'll have to take this up later." Kat stated and smiled,
"Seems we have a visitor! And with both," she looked at Eth'n sternly,
"of our queenriders in the medical center, I guess we," she turned to
look at Rowan, "should go and greet them."

Rowan nodded, "We can talk later, Eth'n."

"I'd like to come with you, if you don't mind? Warton says that the
dragon is from Telnor... and perhaps they have some news?"

Rowan and Kat exchanged glances and both smiled and nodded.

"Of course," Kat answered for them.

So the three left the office and headed for the upper green to meet the
newly arrived dragon and his rider.

[TAG: Kris B. and Carys.]

Summary:
Day 3
Morning
Eth'n is summoned to the Wingleaders' offices to discuss the Nadusi.
Rowan and Kat have already spoken to several nomads about the old
legends concerning the creature and want to compare those with what
Eth'n experienced. While talking, their dragons inform them that there
is a new dragon from Telnor coming to Cleft, so the three go out to
meet
the dragon and rider (Jacin and Djin).

Subject: Confusion Continues

Day 17 - Early Afternoon

Aeryth tried to get a good look at Merissa without it being obvious
that she was doing so. If this was Ye****na's sister, then she was
puzzled how the two women could be mistaken for eachother. The
difference in hair color alone would make it readily apparent who was
who. As it was she'd been hard pressed to keep from looking between
them in bewilderment when the warrenlady had referred to Ye****na as
'Xanthia'. Obviously she went by two names, but which one was better to
use when speaking to her?

Filing that away and giving herself a mental note to ask about it in
the future, she turned her attention back to Merissa. "I've just
transferred here from Keldarra. The warrenlady there said she was going
to send you a message about it, but I'm not certain if she ever got
around to it. She did send me with this, though." When she finished her
statement, Aeryth extracted a sealed envelope from a pocket inside her
jacked and handed it over. "I really hope I can be of some use here."

Merissa opened the envelope and scanned the letter that was inside.
Basically it was just a recommendation from Aeryth's former warrenlady,
detailing some of the things she was good at and affirming that she was
a good rider who followed orders well. However, it also mentioned the
fact that the young woman in front of her was very shy and seemed to
have problems with new people, especially men, and tended to stay on
the edges of large groups.

Aeryth waited patiently while Merissa read the letter, glancing around
the office and humming very quietly to herself. She'd had an idea for a
new composition on the way here, but hadn't had the time to jot
anything down. Really she was half off in her own little world, not
noticing that Xanthia was still in the room or the warrenlady's
reactions to whatever was in the letter. When she got like this, people
tended to have to call her several times to bring her attention back to
the here-and-now.

<NRPG: sorry so short, was running short on time but i wanted to at
least reply a little bit>

Summary:
Day 17 - Early afternoon - Xanthia takes Aeryth to Merissa's office,
where Aeryth tells the warrenlady that she's been transferred from
Keldarra Warren and gives her a letter from the warrenlady there. While
she waits for Merissa to read the letter, she starts thinking about
music and sort-of zones out.
