Subject: DL-J: Walking Wounded

Day 1, Evening

Med Center

Hsina had done nothing since Corwin's departure a few hours before.
She was
not involved in Oga's detention or the planning sessions for bringing
the
scepter back to the warren. The reason, of course, was that she was
quite
seriously injured during the battle earlier that day, and while no
vital
organs were hit, she had lost a decent amount of blood and taken more
than
one severe hit, including being impaled by a Kataani spear. Of course,
during the 5 or so hours that she spent in the med center, she had no
reason
to involve herself in anything other than getting stitched up, taking
in
fluids and just plain resting.

That all changed when Emperor Toru stepped foot in the warren.

Hsina's armor had all been removed and was in a pile at the side of her
bed,
along with her massive broadsword and war hammer. As soon as Keeza
informed
her of the royal presence, Hsina began putting on her armor. It was a
slow
process, as much from her weakness as from the battered condition of
the
armor, which had deflected dozens, if not hundreds of blows by Kataani
weapons of harder metals wielded by strong warriors. Eventually her
bronze
plate armor was in place and with her broadsword in hand, for the
scabbard
had been hacked off sometime that morning on the beach, Hsina Amman
opened
the door of her room and walked out into the med center proper, her
complexion still pale, but the fire back in her eyes.

Two nurses tried to stop her, but Hsina simply said "I'm going passed
you or
through you, the choice is yours", to which both nurses responded by
stepping aside and letting the junior queenrider pass.

As Hsina reached the door, the situation became far more urgent as Oga
had
by this time emerged from captivity and was in the middle of a heated
swordfight with Tara herself. Hsina burst into a run despite the
protests
of torn muscles, sprained bones, battered joints, overall weakness and
the
weight of her armor, as adrenaline took over where her condition
dropped
off. Just as Oga ran Tara through and started reaching down for the
scepter, Hsina crashed into him full-force, veritably launching his
body a
good ten feet away from Tara and the scepter with her weight and
momentum.

Both Oga and Hsina struggled to their feet, Oga due to his unnatural
position and Hsina to her weakness. Hsina stood in a semi-crouch,
unable to
stand fully erect, and no weapon in her left hand, the shoulder too
badly
injured earlier to be of much use. Despite being knocked away, Oga was
confident. He had seen Hsina collapse just five hours before, and knew
that
she was badly wounded in the earlier battle, so much so that he was
surprised she was standing at all. A quick glance at her confirmed
that
while standing, she was obviously in a weakened state. "You should
have
stayed in bed, Hsina" Oga said in his own language as he approached.

"And you should have stayed in your cell" Hsina hissed back, also in
the
Kataani language as her anger gave back some of the strength she had
lost.

Oga rushed in with his sword high, delivering a serious of fast and
furious
blows. Hsina relied on her heavy armor to protect her body and used
her
sword only to parry the two strikes directed at her head. Of course
Oga's
sword was of fine Kataani steel and broke bronze links and dented
bronze
plates, but the softer bronze turned death blows into minor wounds.

Hsina brought her own sword in for a powerful stroke to Oga's
midsection,
but Oga was fast enough to parry the blow, which still was forceful
enough
to push his own sword into his chest, cutting an inch deep through
clothing
and into muscle and stopping at bone. With the two swords locked at
Oga's
chest, Hsina, through pure force of will, brought her injured left arm
around in a strong haymaker punch to Oga's face, catching him by
complete
surprise and throwing him a meter to his left while sma****ng the right
side
of his jaw so hard that the right mandible was shattered, the skin of
his
cheek ripped and when he spit, it was a mixture of blood, three teeth
and a
shred of his tongue. If he would speak again, it would be through the
left
side of his mouth and in extreme pain.

Seeing Oga go down, Hsina went for the scepter, knowing that she had to
keep
it from Oga at all costs.

Just as Hsina's left hand came within an inch of the scepter, she was
thrown
back as a cone of water struck her full in the back with enough force
to
throw her a few feet to her front and slam her to the ground.

Hsina struggled to her feet just as she saw Oga ru****ng again for the
scepter, and knew that he would reach it first. That did not stop her,
and
she again moved with all the speed she could muster and rushed at him.

Oga's hand touched the scepter and all Kataani immediately froze, but
even
if Hsina was susceptible to the scepter's mesmerizing effect it
wouldn't
have mattered for pure momentum carried hard into Oga's body for the
second
time. Again she plowed into him, though this time the scepter remained
firmly in his hand.

The two opponents again struggled to their feet, while Oga prepared
another
spell, no doubt to be enhanced by the power of the scepter. He didn't
have
the chance, however, as he was interrupted by ....

Andrew F.

Hsina and Keeza

NRPG: If nobody minds, I'd really like for Hsina to eventually give
Oga the
killing blow. It's a rather personal thing with her, and a long time
in
building.

<Snip>

"Yeah, kill the little bastards!" agreed Angel.

With a pained expression at Angel's interruptions, the Science Officer
tried
to conclude his case in a calm and scientific manner.

"We don't have much else to go on, Sir," he said. "It could be a
productive
avenue for investigation..."

<End Snip>

Reed fought the urge to roll his eyes at the young woman's solution.
"'Killing them all," he stated gruffly eyeing Angel with an icy gaze,
"is not the answer, and that still doesn't explain as to where my
First Officer is!"

<Snippets>

"I speak from two backgrounds. First, that of the Federation. It is
ours to understand, not to destroy, not to mold in our own image. We
don't interfere in the natural order of things but equally, we aren't
to decide what is the natural order and then implement it."

****

Brant nodded with a suppressed smirk thankful that his mustache covered
a lot of his reactions. The Prime Directive was always ever present and
pretty much upheld for the most part. But in his opinion it gave
Starfleet the edge to be the nosiest sob's in the universe, enabling
them to get away with murder when it called for it.

****

"Secondly, coming from a society where my kind of people were
oppressed, I detest any efforts to ride herd over others, even if
animal, because "we know better". I do not believe we should carry on
the mission of the Klingon empire," the Zebra woman finished.

****

"It's understandable for you to feel that way Lieutenant, and
thankfully we're not dealing with Klingons, though I can't say
Romulans are much better at the moment." Brant nodded to the striped
woman.

<End Snippets>

Sajin's com badge chirped cutting through the chatter around the
table.

<Snip>

"I've located Lt. Ortiz. She's requesting you and Petty Officer
Kendrell's
assistance in Holodeck 2."

The room grew silent. Conner glanced at Captain Reed, and the Captain
nodded.
"Send her up to the Conference Room."

"Um, that's a negative, Ens. Conner. She says she's trapped in the
Contadora
Island program and she needs you to help her. Something about trans****t
pattern
buffers."

<End Snip>

The Caly Commander leaned back in his chair blinking in surprise. But
then why should he be surprised, nothing else had gone right so far. At
least Van was alive and he inwardly gave a sigh of relief. Rising from
his chair he looked around at the expectant faces, "This briefing will
be concluded later! Sajin, I want you and the Counselor to accompany me
to the holodeck to see if we can get to the bottom of this. I do
believe Contadora Island is your program Counselor?" He said to Georgi
more as a statement then a question.

"Ummm.....yes suh!" She answered sucking in her bottom lip under the
hard gaze of the Captain.

"Freda, run some scans and make sure whatever is happening down in the
holodeck isn't coming from outside the ****p. Last thing we need is a
cloaked Warbird messing with us again. Also see if you can come up with
anything new on Commander Mitchell's whereabouts! Louie you have the
con for now! The rest of you return to your stations until further
notice!"

As Brant moved to leave the briefing room Angel literally bounded up
next to him. "Sir, what about me?" The Captain paused for a moment
gazing down at the young hostess. Feeling suddenly magnanimous in his
relief at his engineer's reappearance, the corner of his mouth
twitched upward. "Why Angelika," he said trying not to laugh at the
face she made at the mention of her full name. "I think I will put you
in charge of Tribble research for now, as in how to deal with
them.......and without eradicating the species from the known
universe!"

"Sir?" Louie asked pensively appearing on the other side of Brant. The
Captain looked around at the Ops offer with a questioning glance,
seeing the hesitation on his face Reed smiled, knowing immediately what
the problem was. "First time on the throne 'eh?"

"Yes Sir!"

"You'll do fine Ensign!" Still sensing the first time jitters in
Coltrane, Brant added, "Providing there's not too many problems in
the holodeck, when I get back I want you to take a run down to Holodeck
3, you look like you could use a trim!"

Belying the fact of his own longer hair Brant just smiled knowing a
trim was the last thing Louie really needed, The barber program aka
'Charlie' was an awesome program. The computer-generated barber had
more advice then any 'human' he'd ever met and was a good
listener, especially when a person needed an impartial sounding board.

"Sir!" The ops officer exclaimed in surprise, totally befuddled by the
odd request.

"Yes Ensign, I think a trim is just what you need! And Louie, that's
an order!" The Captain added before exciting the briefing room.

[..] MD 4:1145 Holdoeck 3

The balmy air of the tropical environment was quite refre****ng as the
Captain, Counselor and Science Officer entered the Holodeck. Brant had
to admit it was a nice program and the Counslor had been right on
target for making it an R & R program. He'd noticed that it had been
used quite a lot since she'd first programmed it in, he'd even been
here a few times himself.

"Ok Sandleson, what seems to be the problem!"

The officer stepped aside to reveal the shapely woman standing behind
him. The trio came to a halt stunned by the sight of the missing
engineer standing there in front of them, in almost nothing.

Gerogi's face split into a huge grin seeing the woman. She'd been
heartsick over the loss of Lt. Ortiz as she'd felt like it was partly
her fault, that maybe she could have done something more to prevent the
disaster.

Fighting down the low appreciative whistle that threatened to erupt
from his lips Brant's hazel eyes turned a deep golden hue as he gazed
at the bounteous bronzed beauty. "Van, is that really you?"

Tag: Bianca :D. And Eddie what does Conner think of this little
development?

Respectfully submitted by,

Tree Deutscher
