Subject: [DL-C] The Incredible Freezing Dragon (aka: Intro Post for
Saren & Vordai)
Day Three - Afternoon
Telnor Warren
Saren had been practicing her archery, with Vordai looking on slightly
amused since she couldn't see why her rider bothered, when a lad who
ran errands for the Warrenlady skidded to a halt behind her. "Miss
Saren," he gasped, he'd obviously been running, "the Warrenlady wants
to see you. Now."
With a sigh, she unstrung the bow and walked to pull her arrows from
the target, placing them in her quiver and hanging the whole thing from
Vordai's saddle. Only then did she turn to the boy. "Did she say what
it's about?"
"No. Only that you should come see her right away."
Biting her tongue at an irritated remark, she wasn't angry with the boy
and didn't want him to think she was, Saren headed toward the
Warrenlady's office. Poking her head in, she said, "You wanted to see
me?"
The Warrenlady looked up from the paperwork she was going through.
"Ah. Yes. Please come in."
Saren slid into the room, idly trying to remember if she'd done
anything recently to irritate anyone enough to get her reported. "What
can I do for you?"
"Relax," the Warrenlady said with a smile. "I've gotten a message from
Warrenlady Cynthia at Cleft Warren requesting that we send you out
there. Apparently they have a problem that they need dragons who
breath ice to resolve and Jacin, your old wingmate who just transferred
out there, told them about your Vordai. How soon can you be ready to
go?"
Caught off guard, Saren just stood there for a moment before managing a
reply. "Go? To Cleft? Ah, I can leave a little later, probably early
this evening. It shouldn't take me long to pack and if I forget
anything, a courier can always bring it to me whenever it's
convenient."
"Excellent. That would be wonderful. I sent their courier back
already, telling him you'd be along as soon as you could. Just have
Vordai contact Djin for the coordinates to get there so you don't have
to fly all the way there."
"Yes ma'am." Saren was excited. This sounded much more interesting
than sitting around Telnor. She headed out to tell Vordai the good
news, trying idly to remember exactly who Jacin was and what he looked
like.

Day Three - Early Evening
Still at Telnor
Saren tossed a few last things into the only open pack left that wasn't
loaded onto Vordai already, then took a good look around her warren to
make certain she wasn't forgetting anything. Satisfied that she had
everything, she closed the bag and fastened it with the others before
swinging up onto her dragon. <~Are you ready?~>
In answer, Vordai leapt into the sky from the ledge, eager to get
going. <~Yes. I've already contacted Djin, so I know how to get
there. I hope you packed lightweight clothing, because he says it's
much warmer there than it is here.~>
<~I tried to pack a variety of things so I'd be prepared for
anything.~>
The pair hung in the air over Telnor for a moment, silhouetted against
the setting sun, before vanishing from sight.

Still Early Evening
Now at Cleft
Saren and Vordai appeared in the sky above the unfamiliar Warren only
moments after leaving Telnor. Both looked down in interest, as things
were very different than what they were used to. Saren was loosening
her riding jacket and removing her helmet as they glided in for a
landing, sweating in the warm air. The fact that during the day it
would be much hotter was not lost on her.
When they landed, Saren dismounted, sliding quickly to the ground and
removing her jacket completely, setting it and her helmet on the ground
next to Vordai. <~I'm going to go find out who I check in with. Why
don't you wait here? You could let Djin know that we're here and find
out if he or his rider knows where I should go.~>
Vordai nudged her rider lightly with her nose. <~I will do so and let
you know what he says.~>
With a smile, Saren headed off toward where she thought most of the
ground level rooms would be located. Vordai turned her attention to
talking to the other dragon. <~Djin, we're here! My rider needs to
know where to go. Do you or your rider know?~>
<Tag: Josh - feel free to add conversation between Djin and Vordai
and/or to have Jacin come and meet Saren>
************************************
Summary:
Saren gets called to the Warrenlady's office in Telnor and informed
that she was needed to go to Cleft Warren and help them with a problem.
She was also told that the reason they'd sent for her was that her
former wingmate, Jacin, had told them about her dragon, Vordai's,
ability to breath ice instead of fire. She quickly packed and left,
arriving at Cleft early in the evening and going off to look for
someone who could tell her where to go and report in.
Respectfully Submitted:
