Subject: [DL_C] - Spirit Fire
Day 4
Late Afternoon
Tatewin closed her eyes against the soft warm breeze as she and Tatezi
soared and rode the thermals over the land she loved so dear.
The horror of seeing the path of destruction that followed in the wake
of
Nadusi. What had they done that caused the Gods to awaken him? Why had
he
returned? For his arrival spoke of their complete annihilation; for
none
could stand up against this bringer of death.
<*Relax little one..do not fear.*> Tatezi crooned and hummed in
Dragonsong
to try and ease her riders distress. She would not show her rider that
she
too worried of this monster from the bowels of the earth that moved as
a
shadow silently and deadly across the land.
*I ...* she softly sighed, no words to express what it was she felt.
<*You tribe is safe and well*> Tatezi interjected. <*This does not
please
you?*>
*No, I rejoice that Unci and the others are well out of harms way..and
they
know to come to the Warren if they have need. That there is sanctuary
for
them and any they should meet*
<* Sister..what troubles you so?*> Tatezi probed, but was already aware
of
the rising doubts her rider had. She hoped if she could but voice her
concerns..she would feel better.
Thinking on feeling better, Tatezi reflected back to the afternoon nap
and
snuggle she had with the small dark green Bohoc. He was almost as
proud as
his rider, the young chieftain. Tatezi knew how her rider felt about
the
young chieftain, but thinking of them had given her an idea.
<*I know what you need*> Tatezi whispered softly to her rider. <*A
Spirit
Fire*>
Tatewin smiled at that thought and nodded her head...she could feel
some of
her tenseness and stress flow from her.
Tatezi banked and softly rolled and headed to the place that Bohoc had
mentioned. The place his rider found his peace and sense of balance; a
place to renew his spirit and soul.
Well, if it was good enough for Bohoc's rider.it certainly was the
perfect
place for hers.
Tatewin let Tatezi lead her to this place she hinted at. A place for
her to
begin the ritual and prepare herself for the wisdom that would come
from
speaking with the spirits.
They circled the lake and took in the view and Tatewin had to
agree.this was
the perfect place, the place in which she would find her answers. They
found
a place to land and after a few moments of scouting around and looking
over
the terrain and the setting of the lake, found a natural hamlet that
would
work and began to set up what she needed.
Once the preliminaries were completed Tatewin removed her garments and
proceeded into the lake. The first few moments startled her as the
cold
water hit her warm skin. Tatezi basked in the warm sun and watched her
rider
through her partially closed lids.
Tatewin reveled in this respite and realized she had much need to take
some
time for herself. One can not give and help if one did not take the
time to
replenish first. So she wallowed in the cool refre****ng water and let
her
mind flow and all troubling thoughts wash away from her.
Once she was refreshed and at peace she made her way to the shallows to
begin the process needed to create the spirit fire. Anointing herself
and
softly invoking the prayers needed, she then stepped from the water and
with
just a knife went in search of the branches she would need to complete
the
next step.
Tatezi lazily dozed and enjoyed the peace and quiet of this place. She
kept
a vigil on her rider, but knew she was safe and all was well. Her
rider had
taught her much, and she preened in her special knowledge that her
clutch
mates did not seem to have..or understand.
She also realized..much from what her rider had shared about the
history of
her people; that they all were indeed a gift from Anavasha; sent to
heal all
those within their circle of influence.
Perhaps this was why her rider struggled so. Tatewin had always
thought she
was chosen by Haliaeen; God of the Hunt. Many of her rider's people
referred
to her as Dain Haliaeen. Tatezi knew her rider prided herself on this
title
and it was this position within the tribe that gave her the status of
one of
the hunters. She would never have to fear the lot of many women in the
tribes. She was independent and by all rights her own person.
Tatewin smiled as she passed her beloved heart and companion..the
sister of
her heart as they called each other. She went through the task of
gathering
the sacred wood for the next step in the ritual and she marveled how
wise
Tatezi was.
This was just what she needed. To be alone and not surrounded by the
others. Tatewin struggled with the slowly warring fraction within, and
she
knew she needed to figure out her path so that she could best serve her
people. She still did not feel as if the Warren was home, but only a
resting place between the two places.
That Unci had told her she was to follow the then ride the yellow wind
had
indeed come true. That she seemed to be pulled between the two worlds
was
also true. That she knew where she belonged was not so clear. Once she
thought she only belonged to Haliaeen. But it was Anavasha that had led
her
to Tatezi and this new life. She hoped she would be able to find a way
to
walk with both...and yet...the Gods were a fickle lot at times. Giving
with
one hand and taking with another.
Once the wood gathered and yet another set of prayers and offerings
went up
she began the long ritual of the fire and the calling of the spirits.
Tatewin called to those that laid claim to her, and pleaded with them
to
help her find her way. Lost in the moment and connected to the spirits
Tatewin did not notice..she was no longer alone..
[TAG ARLE - ready for the JP with Andahar?]
[SUMMARY]
Tatewin and Tatezi take an afternoon flight to help Tatewin work
through her
thoughts. Tatezi remembers a place Bohoc spoke of and takes her rider
there. Once there Tatewin begins the spirit fire and is interrupted
during
it.
