[NRPG - Yep, I'm baaaaack!!]
Day 19 after the quake
<snip from Bianca's post>
Z'ak found the warrenlady in her office and stepped inside. Jeneve
glanced up from the first of the damage re****ts to see him wearing an
awful look on his face.
"What is it Z'ak?"
"It's D'lion and Dargis, my lady. We...we found them in the garden.
Um. I don't know why the dragons didn't let us know. Some of the
crater wall fell. Several large boulders. D'lion was struck and
Dargis..." His voice faltered. "His heart...we think the shock of
D'lion's..."
"Z'ak?" Jeneve's eyes seemed to widen and she stood up behind her
desk.
"Dargis and D'lion...They're dead, my lady."
<end snip>
The blood drained from Jeneve's face and she sank heavily back into her
chair.
"You're sure?" she whispered.
Z'ak nodded.
"Of course you're sure," Jeneve mumbled, shaking her head as if to
clear it of cobwebs. "Stupid thing for me to say. And Malani didn't
tell me."
Though that was hardly surprising. If the other dragons had seen fit to
keep the tragedy from their riders, it stood to reason that the golden
Queen, wrapped in her own little world of confusion and grief, would do
likewise.
"But ... for Dargis to..." the warrenlady continued. "It's ... just
not right."
She buried her head in her hands, but still she did not weep.
Z'ak put his hand on her shoulder, uncertain whether he should stay or
go. For a few long moments he remained there, then turned to go.
"If there's anything..." he began, softly.
"Wait!" said Jeneve, as she saw Z'ak was about to leave. "There's
something I want you to take with you."
Jumping to her feet, Jeneve rushed to the window, where the dragon-lily
she had rescued in the aftermath of the quake still sat amidst the
remains of its broken pot. It's flower looked somewhat battered, but
the stem and leaves were still strong.
"Dargis's flower survived. He gave it to me, oh, ages ago. And look!
It's got babies!"
She picked out a handful of tiny bulbs from the scattered soil. "Dargis
said it would do this! Will you take some, and give them to people?"
Jeneve's face now shone with the enthusiasm of a little child, but Z'ak
could see how close tears were to the surface. She looked at him,
hopefully.
"Just humour me, will you," she whispered.
Z'ak nodded, and took the bulbs.
<tag Bianca, if you've anything to add>
respectfully submitted

Hi Jeanette,
This message didn't reach the Jasra group. I don't see anything
indicating that you are bouncing in either group.
But it's only by chance that I saw it in the WeaversFiction list.
Please send your posts to all three of these addresses:
jasrawarren@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
WeaversFiction@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
even if you are bouncing in yahoogroups, the
lists.worldweavers.net post will go through and we can check the
yahoogroups and send a reactivation request if needed.
Thanks,
Arlene
