[SNIP]
No, no. I'll let this one be a surprise." He smiled walking away.
Walking through the open door into her office, Avi opened his mouth
wide to
say "good afternoon, doctor!"
Spilling her coffee over her desk and her lab coat, she didn't bother
trying
to wipe herself off. She snapped to attention quickly, and painfully,
as
the hot coffee seeped through her uniform. "Feel free to wipe yourself
off,
doctor, this was a very unannounced visit." She did so, gingerly,
sitting
back down as he did. "I wanted to check in because you were remarkably
quiet at this morning's meeting. I was curious, was it because you
were
tired, embarrassed or not quite sure of what to say?"
"Well, Captain," she looked up at him while continuing to wipe her coat
now,
not that it would matter much at this point. "I'll try to be honest
with
ye."
"I'd appreciate that." Avi quipped, but clearly the sarcasm was lost
on
her.
"Yes, right. Well..." She looked down, moved a PADD before beginning
again.
[End Snip]
What was she going to tell him? That since she had returned..all she
saw was
ghosts and ghouls and that blasted haunted castle? She felt like she
was
being watched?
She shivered at the thought of cold icy hands touching her..no
caressing her
was a better term. She looked back up to her Commander and studied his
features.
"Well..how about a wee bit of all of the above." She blurted out. She
noted
the look on his face and was surprised that he did not seem too
surprised by
her response.
"I can tell ya that...well.." she stammered to make herself speak. Why
could she talk with Istria so openly about everything and anyone else
it was
like pulling teeth to utter two complete thoughts together?
"I can't explain what happened on the planet Sir." She replied simply.
"I
can tell ya I can see it in my mind's eye..but I can't seem ta speak of
it."
Miaren frowned and absentmindedly toyed with the PADD. She could not
even
prove her claims..other than what they had brought back that first
trip.
The second had yielded so much more...but no actual proof..unless you
took
samples from their new refugees...but that would not happen.
"Have ya seen them Sir? Our Guests? Are they gettin along ok?" she
asked
looking back at them. She locked eyes with her Commanding Officer
because.well..his eyes did not look like the ones that seemed to float
before her constantly.
Large...beautiful.sad..silvery eyes..blood-rimmed silvery eyes. She
smiled
weakly as she noticed that once again she seemed to drift off once
again and
his soft clearing of his throat told her she had lost focus on the
present.
"You appear tired Doctor..I would suggest that perhaps you take the
time to
rest up a bit..it was your very first away team experience.and one that
turned out rather..intense."
"Aye I am..but I was told I would catch up soon.and I have taken upon
myself
to do light duty." Miaren smiled back. "Have ya seen them? Are our
guests
ok?"
"They are well Doctor." Avi commented and found his lips drawn together
in a
slight frown. What had happened down there? Was she too under their
influence like Lt. Talara?
[SNIP]
"Doctor, did I ever tell you about my first captain on the USS
Pegasus?"
"No, sir."
[END SNIP]
Miaren sat and listened to him speak as he took her back in time with
his
memories.
She smiled as he told her what the message had been. Looking at her
Commanding Officer it was hard to think of him like her in anyway. She
smiled and wondered if one day another one would look at her in such a
way.
With the sound of the snapping close of the PADD she looked back up and
watched him walk out of the room without a backward glance. She sat
there
quietly for a moment and her herself call out to him.
"When I was in the castle...I.." she began and then stopped when he
reappeared in the room.
"Yes Doctor?" he prodded her.
"I always felt as if the walls had ears..and someone was watchin us."
She
breathed deeply as she was surprised she could voice this particular
feeling. Maybe being away from the planet she would slowly be able to
recall and then report what she remembered.
She turned to face him. "That feelin has not left me..it returned with
me."
Avi nodded and smiled at her. "Noted. I will let you get back to
your..duties." He replied.
She nodded and once again he strode from the room.
Miaren sank back into her chair.aware of the dampness but sat for a
time
before a blank screen.lost in her thoughts.

MD6
1800
Miaren lay in her bed and stared at the ceiling and tried to settle in
for
the night. She was none to pleased that she was being made to stay the
night after the little..incident. Better they refer to it as incident
than
episode.
She found herself reflecting upon the conversation she and her
Commanding
Officer had had the previous day. That he seemed concerned for her was
evident. What he thought about her was another issue.
She was at no loss to what the First Officer thought of her. The
unspoken
words between then was plain enough to her. She was person non grata
in the
First Officer's opinion.
She did not try to close her eyes..for she feared what sleep would
bring.
They called it sleep walking..but she knew different. It was
different..for
if she was sleep walking..what had happened to her clothes?
How did she explain the soft bruising of delicate tissue? The marks
and
bruises on her person? She could not. She smiled as she remembered
waking
in sick bay to find Andrew sitting by her side.
He was worried and never a word between them. He did not question
her..and
knew he would stand by her. Of course once the report was out on what
had
happened.perhaps that would change.
She was not under any delusion to how rumors and facts flew about a
ship.
Much like the academy; where bad news traveled fast juicy news faster.
This
was definitely juicy news and one that would be hard pressed to respond
to.
Miaren closed her eyes hoping to find a moment of peace.perhaps sleep
without those silvery eyes watching her...calling to her. Her eyes flew
open
as she saw them again and felt the pull.
The sound of someone walking through the door brought Miaren back to
reality.
"We need to talk." She heard the voice say. She groaned inwardly..she
knew
that voice.
She looked up to see the First Officer standing in front of her. Lips
pursed with determination and purpose.
[TAG TREE - ready for that JP?]
[SUMMARY]
MD5 - 1600 - Miaren is visited by Avi and they have an interesting
conversation and she manages to speak a bit about what seems to be
bothering
her. Avi leaves her with some things to think about.
MD6- 1800 - Miaren is resting in sick bay mulling over the conversation
of
the previous day and wondering what was going on. Montana comes for a
visit..and it does not appear to be social.
