Subject: Taking Care Of Needs

          [DL-D]
  Day 1
  Late Morning
  Medical Center

Star stood there listening closely to the woman. She looked at
Molina, but seeing that she wasn't paying much attention, turned her
attention back to the front of the crowd.

The woman had just finished explaining about the barracks, and
about where they might be able to go.

Then she told the crowd of newly joined riders something that
had seemed funny to Star at the time.

  <Snip>

"Oh, and you might start to notice you're feeling a bit itchy,
it
probably isn't you, but your dragon. So, if you do, there are rags
over
there and some pots of oil. Pour some oil on the rag and then rub it
into the itchy spots on the dragon's scales. You'll find you'll be
doing a lot of that for the next 3 months."

  <End Snip>

With this said, the woman turned and left the new riders
standing there looking confused at each other.

Molina suddenly said "My skin feels kind of itchy" as she began
to scratch at an area on her arm just above her elbow.

Star started laughing then said "You should have been listening,
instead of staring at a couple of cute boys."

Molina just looked at Star confusingly.

"The woman told us that if we felt a little itchy that we may
want to check out dragonets, because their scales need to be oiled."
Star told Molina, still laughing.

       "Ohh...I...uh..." Molina looked away embarrassed.

"Well, I need to go get some food for Sarette. I'll see you
around." Star said as she turned to walk away.

"Like I'll just go and like uh... oil my hatchling" Molina said,
then left.

Star went over to grab a couple buckets of meat for Sarette and
headed back to her.

Sarette lifted her head as Star approached her and the two white
dragonets.

The two whites looked up at her.

"I'm sure Alden and Alton haven't forgotten to bring your food"
Star told them aloud, then looked over to where the buckets of meat
were.

Alden and Alton were standing over there talking.

*Sarette, let Emil and Neka know that their riders haven't
forgotten them*

       [Okay, I will!]

Star gave Sarette the buckets of meat, then sat down to watch
her eat.

Star had been so absorbed into watching Sarette that she hadn't
noticed Alden and Alton approaching.

In fact, she hadn't noticed anything until the twins told her 'hi' in
unison.

She looked up to find the two standing there with buckets of meat in
their hands, and the two white hatchlings trying eagerly to what was
inside the buckets.

The twins set the buckets down so the two white hatchlings could eat,
then sat down next to Star.

Star smiled at the two as they sat next to her.
She then looked around to see if she could see Molina anywhere.
She spotted her over next to a yellow dragonet, rubbing her down with
the oil rags.

Looking back at the twins, she gave them a weak smile when she
realized they were looking in the same direction as she had been.

Alden asked her what was up with that girl, as he looked back at
Star.

"Oh, Molina? Uh...well...hmm...she uhh..." Star hesitated a moment,
then finished "likes you...the both of you."

Alton told her that they had wondered something like that, because of
the way the girl had been staring at them.

"She had thought that I was a girlfriend to one of you or both. How
funny is that?" she said, but quickly turned away as she felt her
cheeks warming from embarrassment.

*Sarette, how about an oiling when you're done eating?*

  [Oiling? What's that?]

*Well, I was told that I must keep your scales oiled, to keep you
from itching and scratching off your scales*

  [Okay!]

*I'll be right back with the oil and rags, you just finish up there.*

Star stood up from the bench and started to walk away.

Alden asked where she was going.

"I need to go get some oil and rags so I can oil Sarette down," she
replied.

"We'll go with you" the twins said in unison.

  "I...uh...okay!" she told them.

The three worked themselves through the crowd of new riders.

Reaching the corner where the pots of oil had been set out for them,
Star grabbed a pot and some rags.

Alden and Alton did the same and followed her back to their
dragonets. None of them saying a word to anyone else.

As they passed Molina, Star noticed that Molina was watching her with
envy.

Smiling awkwardly at Molina, she continued on her way.

When they returned to where the hatchlings were left, she found
Sarette had finished eating and sat waiting patiently for her.

Setting down the pot of oil and rags, she grabbed the empty buckets
and set them aside for the time being.

She then grabbed a rag and poured some oil on it. Star began working
the oil into the hatchling's scales.

[Oooh! The itchiness is going away!]

*That's what it's supposed to do, silly!*

[I like it! It's feeling better!]

Looking out of the corner of her eye, as she worked the oil into the
hatchling scales. Seeing the twins oiling their hatchlings, she began
thinking about what Molina had said to her.

*I can't believe she actually thought I was a grilfriend to one or
both of them.* she thought as she hid a smile from the two.

*They are cute and all, but what would make her even think that? She
didn't do anything to make anyone think that she was anything more to
them than just friends.* Star tried thinking back over everything that
had happened since she met the two.

[What are you talking about, I don't understand?]

*Nothing, Precious One! Nothing you would understand, I'm not sure I
understand much right now*

Star continued rubbing in the oil on Sarette, trying to keep her mind
off of those lingering thoughts.

When she finished oiling Sarette, she grabbed the pot, rags and empty
buckets to take care of them.

As she did this, she noticed the twins following her example.

As they followed, she noticed Molina watching her and the twins. She
was clearly trying to get their attention. Star looked at the boys,
they weren't paying no mind to the girl. They were whispering to each
other as they walked next to her.

Star couldn't hear what they were saying, but atleast they wasn't
paying Molina no mind.

*What am I doing? I'm acting like some jealous girl! Sure they are
cute, but I need not to be thinking about that now. I have more
important things to be thinking about.*

[Like what?] Sarette asked in her child-like voice.

*Like you, silly! You are who and what I need to focus my mind on
now. You are first on the list. i must keep you safe, until you can
fend for yourself. Until then, I need not think of anything else that
would distract me.*

  [Me?]

*Yes, you! You're a baby still and with my help, you'll grow big and
strong. With the training we'll receive, soon we'll be in the skies
with the rest of the dragonriders. This is what we have to look forward
to. It has been my dream, and I'll not let anyone or anything get in my
way of fulfilling my dreams. I've already taken the first step of
fulfilling my dreams and that is being joined with you. Nothing and no
one is more important than you, my Precious One!*

After placing the buckets, oil pot and rags where they need to be,
she headed back to Sarette without waiting for the twins.

Star was swimming in her thoughts, when Molina stepped in front of
her. She had only been just a few feet from Sarette when the girl
stopped her.

"Like, I thought there wasn't like anything between you and like the
twins?" Molina asked her with a bit of a sneer.

"There's nothing as I had told you" She replied.

"Then like why can't I like get their attention? Like they seem to
like watch you." Molina said coldly, then added "When ever I like try
to get their attention, they like ignore me, like looking away from me
and like looking at you. Then they like start talking to each other
like. What are they like saying? Why do they like watch you, and why
are they like sticking close to like you?"

"I don't know, Molina! Why don't you ask them instead of me. What
they do is their choice, not mine! So, if they want to look at me, or
hang by my side, that is their choice not mine. Now I must go, my
hatchling may need me" she said just as coldly as the other girl.

Star limped away shaking her head at the girl's rudeness, as she
thought to herself.

*What is wrong with that girl? If those boys were interested in her,
then they'd be talking to her. How dare her treat me like I'm trying to
steal a boy from her. It really is Alden's and Alton's choice on who
they talk to or who they are interested in for that matter, not mine!*

[Why is that girl being mean to you?]

*She's just jealous, Precious One! Nothing you need to concern
yourself with.*

  [What is jealous?]

*Jealous is just an emotion. Some people get mean when they are
jealous over something, they can say rude things and such. I'm not
going to worry myself about it, and you shouldn't worry yourself about
it either. It's not worth it!*

Sitting down next to Sarette, she placed her hand on Sarette's neck.

Looking over at the hatchling, she realized how beautiful Sarette's
scales shone from being oiled.

  *How's that itching?* she asked.

[It stopped, the oiling took it away.]

*Good! So next time you feel a little itch, be sure to tell me.*

  [I will!]

*How about we go out to the Green, stretch our legs? It is pretty
crowded in here.*

  [Sure!]

Star got up, then waited for Sarette to stretch a little.

Star began limping towards the door with Sarette by her side.

Alton and Alden stopped her and asked where they were going.

"We're going out to the Green to stretch our legs, it's a little
crowded in here" she told them, as she turned to leave.

"Wait, we'll go with you." they said in unison.

"Uh... okay!" she said as she spotted the two white hatchlings
wobbling this way.

"I just need to get some air, it's getting a bit..." Star hesitated a
moment, then finished "stuffy in here" as she glared over at Molina.

"Is there something wrong, Star?" Alton asked.

"No, I'm fine! I just need some air," Star said with a sigh.

Emil and Neka finally came over to them.

Star looked down at them, smiling.

Alden then said they'd meet her on the Green in a few. He needed to
talk to his brother before going out.

"Uh...okay! That'll be fine! You know where we'll be." Star replied,
then turned to limp away.

Reaching the door, she pushed it open wide enough for her and Sarette
to slip through.

The sun was bright hanging over the Warren, despite what had happen
the night before, the day was beautiful.

Star and Sarette slipped out into the warm sun and headed over to the
Green.

Star sat down on the edge of the Green, then stretched out in the
sun. Sarette did the same.

Sarette's gleamed in the sunlight as the rays touched her scales.

  {Tag to Katie and anyone else who might want to add to this.}

  Summary:

  [DL-D]
  Day 1
  Late Morning
  Medical Center

After the woman talked to the newly joined riders, she left, leaving
them with a bit of information.

Star went for a couple of buckets of meat for Sarette. Then, while
Sarette was eating, Star spoke briefly to the twins about Molina and
her little crush on them. Embarrassing herself after telling them what
Molina had thought. Then she went for a pot of oil and some rags.

After a run in with Molina and her jealous antics, Star oiled her
dragonet.

Then once she put everything back where they belonged, she decided to
take Sarette out to the Green.

Before getting to the door, the twins stopped her. Alden told
her that as soon as he was done talking to his brother, they'd meet her
out on the Green.

Star and Sarette went out into the brightly lit morning.

The two of them reached the edge of the Green, then stretched
out in the warm morning sun.
