Subject: [USS Calypso-B] Caffeine and Carnivorous Cadavers

    MD 5:0630

Van smiled brightly at her captain as she slipped into the chair next
to him at the table and set down her PADD. He was wearing that
relieved look again.

"Good Morning Van, you're looking downright perky this morning!"

"Well thank you, Capitan. I woke up this morning and I wasn't stuck
on a gorgeous tropical beach. It was a good start. Plus I've had two
cups of coffee already." She glanced away to wave down Angel who
wandered over with a grin.

"Glad to see you, Lieutenant. What can I get you?" The minx did
look happy, and she kept glancing over at the captain.

"A short stack of banana pancakes with maple syrup, 4 strips of
bacon, two eggs over easy, half a grapefruit, and a big mug of
Columbian, please." The corner of Angel's smile twitched a bit at the
order, but she nodded and headed for the replicator.

"Eating light today?" Brant had a twinkle in his eyes as he surveyed
his chief engineer.

"Well I do have a to catch up with yesterday's missed work. I do not
want to be tied down with a full stomach." She shot back archly. Her
levity faded though.

"I have been catching up on what I missed while I was out of
commission. I understand that we have lost Dr. Wreyn, Cmdr. Mitchell
is MIA, Nova was replaced with a new transfer, we gained an unusual
tactical officer, and we are currently holding some rather unusual
passengers from the station. Yesterday was rather busier than usual.
Also, it is believed that the planet we are orbiting may be the
homeworld of the Tribbles. This assignment is not boring, Capitan."

Angel arrived again with a tray on her shoulder and started laying
down plates. Brant sipped his beverage while he watched with some
amusement as Van tackled her morning breakfast, punctuating every few
bites with a sip from the steaming mug of strong black coffee. She
was making fair headway through the eggs and had started on the
pancakes when she glanced up.

"Apologies. I have not eaten much of anything in a day and a half,
Capitan. I woke up rather hungry. You wanted a report on the holodeck
situation this morning." She pushed the PADD over towards him even as
she pierced a couple pieces of pancake on her fork and popped them
between her lips without taking her dark eyes off his. She finished
chewing while he picked it up and activated it. "I wrote it up this
morning first thing before the details could get hazy."

She let him read while she continued with her breakfast. Angel
wandered over and refilled her mug of coffee, checked the level in the
captain's pot, and wandered away again. Van finished her pancakes,
eggs and bacon and was scooping the last bit of grapefruit out of the
rind when Brant glanced up with a surprised look.

  "Naked?"

"Without apparel was the expression I chose. You know what happened
after that. I met you in Sickbay where you were listening to the EMH."

"Ah yes. I meant to talk to you about that. Until we are assigned a
new doctor, we'll need to keep the EMH online."

"I gathered as much after our conversation, Sir. If there's a chance
that we will be using the medical program for any length of time, I
would suggest that we request an upgrade from the current model
installed with the Andromeda class ships. Right now we have a Mark IV,
which has a short list of available personas, but is still designed for
emergency use only. The other option is the LMH, the longterm medical
hologram. They're designed for much longer runtime, and more extensive
personality programing. I can additional holoemitters installed around
the ship in key areas where it is likely to be needed: the bridge, the
cargo bay, engineering, educational rooms, places where accidents are
more likely to happen. The programming is significately more advanced,
and the personality options have been largely improved for a better
overall interactive experience."

"You've done your homework, I see."

Van shrugged to Brant as Angel cleared the plates from the table.

"Why don't you put an offical proposal together and send it to me.
I'll look it over, and see about making the request to Starfleet
Medical."

"I'll have it to you later today, Capitan." Van nearly glowed with
accomplishment.

"Excellent. Now I also wanted to ask you abou---" The captain broke
off as the red alert sounded throught the ship. His combadge beeped.

"Captain, the special passengers have escaped their confinements.
They loose on the deck somewhere. They've killed Ensign Blevins.
Sir...I think...He's covered in bite marks and his head is half gone.
I think they tried to eat him.

<Tag, All!!!! The Zombies are loose and eating people.>

  Respectfully submitted by,

  Bianca Payne
aka Lt.jg Evangelina "Van" Ortiz, CEO, USS Calypso B

  Summary
  MD 5:0630
Van meets Brant for banter and breakfast, lets him read her report
while gobbling down a big meal, and offers a suggestion on the new
versions of the EMH.
MD 5: 0712 The security detail sounds red alert when they discover
the zombie passengers have broken out of containment and are running
loose on the deck, having killed and half masticated at least one crew
member.

Subject: [DL-J] We're Saving Them From What???

She awoke with a start for the moment forgetting where she was. And
then
she saw Jerram sitting in the chair across from her and almost called
him
by the endearing nickname she called her mate. But in the nick of time,
Fig remembered that this man wasn=A1=A6t her mate. Not yet. Not for years
and
years to come. Then she remembered why she was here and how he came to
be
here in the room standing over her.

=A1=A7You look like you still haven=A1=A6t slept,=A1=A8 she said as she
lifted her
legs off the couch and placed them on the floor. =A1=A7Oh bless you,=A1=A8
She
commented when she saw steaming cup of coffee he held out to her.

=A1=A7Thought you could use this,=A1=A8 he said as he watched her take the
first
sip. Then he pointed to the end table where a plate sat with a sandwich
on
it. =A1=A7I didn=A1=A6t know what you=A1=A6d like so I just choice my
favorite.=A1=A8

=A1=A7I can.. could,=A1=A8 she commented as she set the cup down on the
table
before her, then picked up the sandwich and began to scarf it down. She
hadn=A1=A6t realized just how hungry she was. But then their dinner had
been
delayed earlier. =A1=A7Did you get done what you went to do?=A1=A8

=A1=A7We did what we went to do,=A1=A8 he told her as he watched her eat,
but
didn=A1=A6t give her any details.

She eyed him, then gave a short laugh. =A1=A7Still don=A1=A6t trust me do
you? Not
that I can blame you. My story was a bit out there even if it was the
truth. I don=A1=A6t know that I would truth me either.=A1=A8

He gave her an answering grin. =A1=A7It=A1=A6s not that I don=A1=A6t trust
you.. you
knew too much about things around here others wouldn=A1=A6t know for me
not to
believe you.. But even you have to admit the story was sort of out
there.=A1=A8

=A1=A7A lot of things here in Jasra are =A1=A7Out there=A1=A8, she
commente=
d,
picking
up the cup and draining it.

=A1=A7Speaking of out there and strange things We have to go,=A1=A8 he
said
suddenly, sitting up straighter in the chair. =A1=A7I just found out that
Tara
and Kay have left the Warren with one of those Water healers and I was
wondering if you...=A1=A8

=A1=A7What do you mean they=A1=A6ve left the Warren!!=A1=A8 she exclaimed
sitting bolt
upright before coming to her feet and heading into the bedroom, where
she
emerged a few seconds later with her riding jacket and boots.

=A1=A7How could you have let them leave knowing what I told you about the
threat to my mother=A1=A6s life!!=A1=A8 she had to fight to keep from
screaming at
him as she sat and shoved her feet into the leather boots.

=A1=A7I didn=A1=A6t *LET* them leave,=A1=A8 his voice was gruff and she
recognized it
as his training voice. The one he used with lazy students when he
wanted
their attention. =A1=A7They bloody well left on their own while I was
away,
and you can be damn sure I=A1=A6m not happy about it. But Seydor said it
was
the only way to save Tara=A1=A6s life... something about distance being
the
only way to cancel the water magic..=A1=A8

=A1=A7So what are we still doing here,=A1=A8 she growled as she stood and
began
walking out to the dragon=A1=A6s ledge before he stopped her with a
strong
grip on her upper arm.

=A1=A7I was waiting for you to eat something so you wouldn=A1=A6t faith
from
hunger on me,=A1=A8 he told her, his green eyes which were so familiar to
her,
bore into hers letting her know he was taking this seriously. =A1=A7And
before
you interrupted me I was about to suggest that we take off and go make
sure they have some protection. That is if you=A1=A6re ready to go,
instead of
standing here yelling at me like a nagging mate!=A1=A8

His last words were a direct hit to her heart, even if he didn=A1=A6t
know it.
She nearly lost what control she had keeping her feelings for him
hidden.
But she was able to contain them instead giving him an angry glare.
=A1=A7I=A1=A6m
just waiting on you.=A1=A8

=A1=A7Then let=A1=A6s go,=A1=A8 he smiled sweetly, his full lips under his
mustache
lifted into a smile that did not quite reach his eyes. If Fig hadn=A1=A6t
known Jerram the way she did, he would have scared her silly.

=A1=A7One thing,=A1=A8 he said while he still had a hold of her arm.
=A1=A7I=A1=A6m
trusting you with the life of someone I hold very dear to heart. You
will
follow my orders when we get there and if you think to betray that
trust..
Not even the Gods will be able to protect you.. Do we understand each
other.=A1=A8

Her dark brown eyes were clear as they met his, letting him see almost
into her soul. =A1=A7I would give my life to keep my parents safe. They
mean
more to me then you could ever imagine. More then my own life. Your
trust
will not be broken. I will not let you or them down. I understand you
completely. Now understand me.. I will follow your orders in as much as
I
can.. but if something happens and I need to make a split second
decision
to save either one of their lives.. I will.=A1=A8

She was used to working beside her Jerram.. So following his orders was
almost second nature. Trust was something she did not give freely but,
she
trusted him completely. Now she was trusting him with her parents
lives.

He nodded after a few seconds then released her, and headed out to the
ledge where the two dragons were waiting. =A1=A7Then get your gear and
let=A1=A6s
go. Kasha can get the picture of Haven where we=A1=A6re going from
Seydor.=A1=A8

It took her all of a minute to gather her weapons, another two to
saddle
Kasha and then they were ready. She saw Jerram give the arm signal to
lift
off. Then Kasha told her she had the picture and gave it to her rider.
Seconds later they popped into the skies over the town of Haven... and
Fig
knew something was terribly wrong the moment they arrived. She had
expected to see the Warren dragons near the buildings where they were
to
land, but they were no where in sight.

>>The Queen has risen!!<< Kasha told her rider as they spiraled down
towards the ground and landed by the nearest of the buildings.

She looked around for Seydor and Jerram and saw the dragon=A1=A6s color
had
deepen and the rider had that glazed over look to his face as he
stumbled
and half fell off his dragon, seconds before Seydor launched himself
back
into the air. She was almost surprised that he=A1=A6d been able to get
the
riding straps off before the dragon dumped him.

A Mating flight. Oh just GREAT! Fig almost screamed aloud but kept the
though inside her own head. They didn=A1=A6t need that right now. Not
when
Tara was hanging on to her life by a small thread. She looked back at
Jerram and could see he was fighting the feelings of desire she knew he
was feeling from his own dragon due to the Queen rising.

He would be no help at all until the flight was over and she didn=A1=A6t
have
one idea where to look for her mother.

She could see Jerram fighting to control the desire coursing through
his
body and knew he would soon lose the battle. A dragons lust was just to
damn strong for a rider to fight.

=A1=A7Go!!=A1=A8 She waved him on knowing he wasn=A1=A6t going to be of
any
help to
her until the flight was over and a winner decided. He was fighting it,
wanting to do what he came here to do, but the pull from Seydor was to
strong. She could see the pleading in his eyes for her to understand.
=A1=A7Just go. You=A1=A6re not going to be of any help to me right now...
I=A1=A6ll
keep them safe!!=A1=A8

Still he fought it but she knew the moment Seydor took over and won.

She wanted to scream that Seydor couldn=A1=A6t win. She knew this
wasn=A1=A6t her
Jerram but still.. he was. Seydor was a fine dragon, but she didn=A1=A6t
have
to like it when her man ... No not her man. What really scared her was
the
thought that Kasha would rise one day and *her* Jerram and Seydor
wouldn=A1=A6t be there to win.

Now was not the time to think about that. She had to find her mother
and
make sure she was safe. She turned to try and figure out which building
to
try first when she noticed a man coming out of the one on the far
right.

=A1=A7You here from the Warren rider?=A1=A8 the man, a sailor by his dress
asked.

=A1=A7Yes I am. I came with Weaponsmaster Jerram, rider of Seydor to
stand
guard on the Warrenlady but as you can see... something came up with
the
dragons..=A1=A8

=A1=A7Mating fight.. aye..=A1=A8 he chuckled and gave her a knowing wink.
=A1=A7Know
all about them. "My name's Griffin," he said, "First Mate of the ship
Marquesa. The Kataani healer inside is afraid the Warrenlady and her
mate
are trying to kill each other.. Had to explain it to him and order him
out
of the room..=A1=A8

=A1=A7Kind of you to be so considerate,=A1=A8 Fig nodded her thanks.
=A1=A7Right now I
need to check out the building they=A1=A6re in and make sure no one can
get to
them.=A1=A8

=A1=A7I assure you rider. No one will get past me and my friend,=A1=A8
Griffin
told her and patted the sword hilt handing from the belt on his side.
=A1=A7But I can tell you, I=A1=A6m sure glad I have someone here other
then
myself
keeping an eye on things. I=A1=A6d hate it if anything happened to the
Warrenlady. We need her around here.=A1=A8

=A1=A5The Warren=A1=A6s not the only one,=A1=A6 Fig thought as she nodded
in
agreement
and accorded him one of her most charming smiles. =A1=A7I feel better
already
knowing you have been here watching out for everyone=A1=A6s best
interests.=A1=A8

=A1=A7Lease wise I could do,=A1=A8 the sailor replied and stood with his
back
facing outwards of the one door leading inside the building.

Fig wanted to run inside and see for herself that her parents were
okay,
but two things held her back. One it wasn=A1=A6t the time to go barging
in
during a mating flight.. and two... it would nearly kill her if she
found
out Jerram and Seydor had won the flight...

No better to check out the surrounding areas, to give her an idea of
what
was around. Better to concentrate on something besides what was going
on
inside.

=A1=A7I=A1=A6ll be near..=A1=A8 she told Griffin. =A1=A7I just want to
check
out the area.
My dragon Kasha will stay here and help you keep an eye on things.=A1=A8

Summary: Jerram comes to make sure Fig stayed where he left her and
then
tells her Tara has left the Warren.. They follow after them to set up a
watch and get involved in the mating flight....

Nrpg: No I don=A1=A6t know who wins... but I thought it might be fun to
