Subject: [USS Calypso} ...and dessert is?

MD 5:0710ish

Brant chewed the edge of his mustache to keep the smile from his lips.
Seeing the petite Counselor sitting with the new tactical officer was
quite a sight. Even though Georgi chatted amicably with the tusked
officer the Captain knew exactly what she was doing, as she had done it
to him enough times. But they still made a strange looking couple and
he almost felt sorry for the crossbreed. Even though the little redhead
was likeable enough, she was an empath and that didn't sit too well
with Brant. Counselor's were a pain anyway, but one that could 'feel
you' always put him on edge. It really wasn't her fault though and he
had come to view her as a necessary evil as such.

Unfortunately, seeing them together reminded him that he now had two
officers on board with files closed to him. He didn't like secrets,
especially when he was the one being kept in the dark. Would they be
his problem children? He really hoped not considering that his new
flight officer was a hot dog supreme and was sure that Tempete' would
keep him busy enough.

The sound of the Engineers sexy accent brought him out of his
reflections..

"Apologies. I have not eaten much of anything in a day and a half,
Capitan. I woke up rather hungry. You wanted a report on the holodeck
situation this morning." She pushed the PADD over towards him even as
she pierced a couple pieces of pancake on her fork and popped them
between her lips without taking her dark eyes off his. She finished
chewing while he picked it up and activated it. "I wrote it up this
morning first thing before the details could get hazy."

She let him read while she continued with her breakfast.

"Please, Guenthar is quite acceptable," he smiled *in his way*, "but
those who know me well simply call me Tusk..." He then went on to
describe his meal. "The drink is vinegar and fermented milk, it relaxes
my senses... baby jellyfish provides lucites and chemicals to keep my
skin greasy, but I usually prefer to eat them live..." he remarked.
"Vulcan sea quills are rich in fiber, but most people can't get past
the puckering alum taste to them... besides, I'm not sure human systems
can digest them, and finally, targ-luten, which tastes great as a
steak, in slabs, or in links or patties!" he finished enthusiastically.
"Would you like a taste??"

***

Being a Senators daughter Georgi had learned long ago the art of
diplomacy, especially when it came to food. Yet, the petite woman
couldn't help but wrinkle her nose at the pungent odor as she shook her
head slowly. Not that she hadn't seen strange food before, if she could
survive Klingon Gagh and Scrag or Bloodwine strong enough to curdle the
nose hairs of a Targ, Georgi was sure she could survive anything Ensign
Tachlan could throw at her. Actually, Gagh wasn't that bad once a
person got past the tickling sensation it caused as it slithered down
the throat.

Maybe the new tactical officer might be up for a real treat, southern
style? But then again with his physiology he could end up having a bad
reaction, and after what happened on the Essex she'd been extra careful
about what kind of foods she offered to 'her guests.' It was definitely
something to work into to. Her Daddy always said she had an iron
stomach, but the thought of her keeping her skin 'greasy' was not
overly appealing, at least first thing in the morning.

<Snip>

"Er... no thanks, *Tusk*..." Georgi replied, trying not to grimace.

"So," Ensign Tachlan asked, biting into a jellyfish as it squirted out,
"what would you like to talk about??"

***

Georgi didn't want to admit she really liked his given name, it sounded
almost regal, yet she knew he was doing her an honor by allowing her to
use his nickname. It didn't sit quite right with her though, it somehow
seemed a bit disrespectful in a strange sort of way. It was something
she would have to discuss with him as she certainly didn't want to
start off on the wrong foot.

The Counselor opened her mouth to speak but instead of words coming out
the shrill red alert claxon sounded. Surprised, Georgi's lips snapped
shut, and her eyes grew huge for a moment until she realized what it
was. There was a definite wave of relief from the Ensign, as he
graciously reminded her of his duty, then came the normal tenseness at
the alert. The feeling in the room grew as she heard the voice come
over the Comm, the harried words echoing through the Cave...

***

"Captain, the special passengers have escaped their confinements.
They're loose on the deck somewhere. They've killed Ensign Blevins.
Sir...I think...He's covered in bite marks and his head is half gone. I
think they tried to eat him.

***

The room came alive as crewmembers immediately sprang to their feet
answering the all too familiar sound as they rushed to their stations.
So much for a leisurely breakfast.

=^= Tachlan, Freda. Go the the Armory. We need to contain our "dead
friends" we brought over from Starbase 10... before your time...=^=
Brant exclaimed into his commbadge, his brow furrowed in a deep scowl
as he hurried to the bridge,. Having a missing First Officer was
definitely going to be a disadvantage. Stepping into the turbolift he
was startled by the appearance of the Counselor at his side. He hadn't
even realized she was behind him. His frowned deepened as he again
tapped his commbadge. [Secure all essential areas! Scan for their
lifesign's, erect whatever forcefields are necessary, I want them
contained immediately!]

It was only seconds before the doors opened onto the bridge. Brant
glanced over at the Operations Officer as he slid into his chair.
"Status?"

Before Louie could answer several of the panels lit up. "Sir, we're
being scanned!"

"What? By whom?"

"It's coming from the planet!" Louie answered his hands flying over the
panel obviously trying to pinpoint the intrusive signal.

A strangled squeak came from Georgi as she began to shake her head
vigorously, grabbing it as if she was in intense pain, "No! No, it
ain't!" The little southerner jumped to her feet when a sudden
overwhelming pressure to her psyche almost caused her to black out.
It's ...it's..it's a cumin' frum inside! Ah kin feel'em!" She managed
to blurt out before crumpling back into the chair like a deflated
balloon.

"We're not taking any chances! Shields up!" Brant ordered, his hand
dropping to the com buttons on his chair.. [Ensign Conner, this is the
Captain, your science project is on the loose! As soon as security gets
them contained I want you to find out what the hell is going on!] Again
he initiated the signal, [Lieutenant Freda, report!]

{Tag: Josh, Ron and Traci}

{AC:} I went back and checked and couldn't find an actual place that we
stashed the zombies as being knowingly dangerous sickbay would be out
of the question, so figured confinement in Cargo Bay 2 would be logical
as it's close to the labs. Of course there is also all sorts of stuff
on Deck 7 for them to get into! Could be some interesting chaos! :D

Respectfully submitted by,
Tree Deutscher
AKA
Captain Brant L. Reed, USS Calypso-B, Commanding
