Evening day 6
Katrina's apartment
Kat puffed a bit of air onto the bracelet and gave it another rub
with
a soft cloth. "All done," she said out loud to noone in particular. The
sound of Kat's voice brought a nudging of her apartment door. A few
seconds later Azure's head pushed the door open.
<Is that the bracelet you made for the Warrenlady? Perhaps knowing it
is
done will help Triss' rider feel better. I do not think he has been
quite
himself with Triss ill. Being a new sire probably fills his thoughts as
well.>
Kat sighed. Beside Trevor, the warren had a lot going on as well.
Nomads continued to come to and stay at Cleft because of the Nadusi.
Likewise, the warren's riders were preoccupied with what to do about
the giant snake.
Thoughts about the Nadusi brought Kat's thoughts back to Triss and
the
episode the other day when she asked Turner about Triss' blanket.
Eventhough
it had been a rash attempt, Kat had to admit a blanket covered in tejas
root
to slow the Nadusi wasn't a bad idea. Or, if not a blanket, something
else.
Something like that net Jacin had used during the confrontation with
the Nadusi a couple days ago. Or, maybe a large canvas like the kind
that covers wagons.
Perhaps, even a combination of a tejas dipped net and a large canvas
could work. With the beast constricted or distracted in such a way,
the ice breathing dragons could pelt the beast with freezing breath.
Once the beast was brought down, or maybe before, the Nomads who
wanted to be part of the action could attack the beast as well.
"Hmmm, that might be a solution to our Nadusi trouble. Even if it
isn't
the final solution, it could be an option. A gathering of riders, and
even
the nomads, could be set up to discuss that idea or any other ideas
to exterminate the Nadusi."
<Would you like me to alert the riders now about getting together>,
sent Azure.
<No Luv, you can do that tomorrow. It's getting late and my eyes are
weary
from working on the bracelet. I'll inform Trevor of the completion of
the bracelet whenever I see him. Good night for now.>

Day 7. Morning.
Katrina was falling. She called out to Azure, but there was no reply.
For a
moment Kat thought she was back in the battle with the Hellspawn. Or
worse, falling to her death. A death that would not only take her,
but Azure as well. Kat turned her head to face death full in the
face. What she saw was a giant pit... no it wasn't a pit, it was a
giant maw of the Nadusi!! Kat called out again and waved her arms to
brake her fall, but to no avail. Katrina continued to fall alone and
in silence, until....
Thunk! Katrina landed on the floor near her bed. A soft rug and a
pile of
her bedding broke her fall.
<Are you all right my rider?>
Kat opened her eyes to see her iridescent blue dragon's head in the
doorway.
<I'm fine Luv. It was just a bad dream>, sent Kat as she got up off
the
floor, untangled herself from her bedding, and wrapped a blanket around
herself to help her stop shaking. It took a few moments, but with the
added presence of her bondmate, Kat was able to calm down.
<My rider, I think you are under too much of that thing you humans
call
stress. With your new responsibilities as Wingleader and the trouble
with Nadusi, you have been under this stress. Now, I may not be
human, but I have been around enough to know when someone such as
yourself needs some time to relax. You should get a way for a bit.>
Katrina was about to send a reply when Azure added, <That is it. You
need to get a way like Sylois' or Varie's riders>
A look of surprised passed over Kat's face at the news that Reain and
Kelly were gone. It would have been good if those two riders had been
at
the meeting Katrina wanted to have today.
<If you would have had me contact the warren's riders last night when
I
asked you, we might have kept them from leaving>, sent Azure.
<That is okay. If they needed to get a way, then who am I to stop
them
from a mini vacation.>
<Well, actually it was not merely to get a way on Varie's riders
part. I
heard in a roundabout way something about her mate wanting to get out
of
the warren because of the possibility of Triss being asked to turn
over her blanket to combat the Nadusi.>
Kat rolled her eyes before she sent, <Is Lenn... err Blanchie's rider
in
the warren?>
<I'm sorry my rider she is also gone. Why do you want to know?>
Kat sighed. Azure's words made Kat wonder if anyone was around for
the meeting she had in mind.
<My rider, could you please answer my question about Blanchie's
rider. I
just received some other news to report to you.>
Kat wondered what this 'other news was'. But Kat needed her reason
for
contacting Lenna or any of Lenna's family to be told to someone. And
for
the moment, Azure was a good one to tell.
<I asked because I know Blanchie's rider is a sibling of Varie's
rider's
mate. So, I wanted to tell her, or any of her family, I'm not going to
ask
Triss about her blanket. By telling any of them this I would, well..,
feel better. Besides, I'm sure another large covering to toss on the
Nadusi
can be found elsewhere.>
<Thank you for the answer my rider. Are you done speaking about
the blanket?>
<Yes.>
<Okay, I have two things to tell you.>
<Yes?>
<First, what about my idea about the two of us going a way?>
<I promise after the Nadusi is dealt with we'll go a way. And
the second Luv?>
<Speaking of the Nadusi. It has been spotted near the caves with the
underground lake. Varie's rider's mate is trapped by the creature.
And,
Cleft dragons and ice dragons are on the way to the caves.>
Katrina hollered out loud, "Oh, by the egg!"
In mindspeak Kat was going to add 'why didn't you tell me', but she
was
too busy throwing on whatever clothes she could find. Minutes later,
Kat
had Azure saddled. As Kat and Azure spiraled up into the air to
teleport,
Azure spoke again.
<Before I heard about the Nadusi, I had a couple other things I was
going
to tell you.> Before Kat could ask 'what things', Azure continued.
<Alizarine and your sibling have returned from the trip where they
gathered
the ice dragons and made a visit to your family. Also, your sire and
dame are coming to Cleft in a couple days. That is all I had to
report.>
The news about Tess and Samuel caused Katrina to sit back hard in her
saddle. Now was not a good time for a family reunion. This thought
caused
stress Azure mentioned to rear it's ugly head and bite Kat.
'To rear it's ugly head'. The irony created by that line and the
immediate
situation with the Nadusi didn't escape Katrina rider of the iridescent
blue dragon and Wingleader of Beta. Just before Kat prepared to
teleport,
she couldn't help but wonder, why did such a plethora of unfortunate
events
tend to come all at once?

Post Summery:
Evening day 6: Kat finishes the braclet Trevor asked her to do for
Cynthia.
Kat thinks about her bad choice of asking Triss about her blanket to
use on
the Nadusi. This thought leads Kat to think of a similar way to
combat the Nadusi minus Triss' blanket but with a net, another large
covering, tajas root and a combo attack with Cleft dragons, ice
dragon, and nomads. Kat decides a meeting of all participants could
take place the next morning and goes to bed.
Morning day 7: Kat wakes up from a bad dream. Azure thinks Kat is
under
stressed and needs time away. This leads Azure to tell about Reain,
Lenna,
Kellie and Turner being away. Kat wonders how she will have this Nadusi
meeting with people being gone. Azure then tells Kat about the Nadusi
attack
at the caves and sends Kat into action. In transit, Azure has more
news.
Kat's brother Seth/Alizarine finally returned from his/their trip where
he/they informed the Ice dragons of the Nadusi so they could gather at
Cleft. Seth also visited family on that trip. Azure's final news was
about
Kat's parents coming to Cleft. Which caused Kat to wonder why
unfortunate
things tend to come all at once.
