Are you one of the people behind the scenes at your local conventions? Are
you
one of the faceless and sometimes nameless individuals, who spend months,
maybe
years, preparing for your convention? Are you one of the people behind
the
Registration desk handling the membership badges, or taking care of the
guests?
Or are you busy keeping the Anime festivals running on time, or organizing
the
Masquerade show, or perhaps gathering, editing and printing the
newsletters? Or
would you be dealing with the hotel on contract issues, or otherwise
taking care
of the hundreds of other details that it takes to make a convention run?
Or are
you just thinking of joining their ranks, and helping to run your first
convention? If so, then ConRunner 2008 is for you.
ConRunner 2008 is the first, of what will be a biennial gathering of
people
interested and/or experienced in running fan (not-for-profit) conventions
in the
UK and Europe. The event is open to anyone from the Science Fiction,
Fantasy,
Horror, Anime and Comics communities, or anyone else who thinks they might
benefit from attending.
Through workshops, discussions, and panels, ConRunner will examine
con-running
topics from hotel relations to selecting guests, from developing strong
programming, to building membership. ConRunner will draw on the knowledge
of its
membership to create a weekend of cross-disciplinary education and
entertainment.
The convention is fixed for the weekend of the 28/29 June 2008, and will
be
located at the Britannia Hotel Wolverhampton, whivh has great transport
links to
the rest of the UK.
