Publishing News:
Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things won the current British Fantasy Award for
Best Collection.
Released 2007 Hugo voting records indicate that Neil Gaiman's "How to
Talk to Girls at Parties" was runner-up for Best Short Story and that
Scott Lynch finished third in the John W. Campbell Award for best new
writer.
Locus hc bestsellers list in October issue include Bujold's The Sharing
Knife Vol.2: Legacy as #4 hc, with two titles by former locals in #3
and 5 slots (Territory by Emma Bull and The Gospel of the Knife by Will
Shetterly). The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch was #6 pb and his
Red Seas Under Red Skies was #8 hc on the Borders/Walden list in the
same issue.
Neil Gaiman's American Gods was #9 pb on the Borders/Walden list, and
his Stardust #2 on the Barnes and Noble/B. Dalton pb list.
Additionally, the tp edition of Stardust was #1 tp on both of those
lists and #4 on the Locus tp list, and the reissue of Good Omens
(coauthored with Pratchett) was #4 tp on B&N/B.Dalton.
P.C. Hodgell's Jamethiel book rights have been resold to Baen.
"Honorable Mentions" in Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 2007 (ed Datlow
et al) include "Cousins" by Pamela Dean and "How to Talk to Girls at
Parties" by Neil Gaiman, plus "What Used to Be Good Still Is" by
