Established in October 2001, sffan_chicago is a
mailing list (and for Yahoo! members, group) devoted
(but not limited to) fanac and fannish discussion
in the Chicago area. Topics include local conventions,
book signings, open-ended discussions concerning
fan activity and other fannish interests.
Although membership is primarily made up of Chicagoland
and midwestern fen, it's not *limited* to them. Anyone
who's interested in keeping up with fannish activity in
the Chicago area in particular and the midwest in general
may join, although the group currently has a restricted
membership policy due to minor problems with spamming in
the past. Barring any future problems, all discussion on
the list/group is intended to be as open-ended as possible.
If you wish to join, please send an email to
sffan_chicago-subscribe@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
with
the word "subscribe" included in either the
subject line or the text. Unless you've given
cause for suspicion with past behavior either
in this or other mailing lists and/or newsgroups,
approval by the moderator should pose no problem.
Keep in mind that posting spam or inappropriate
material on the list will be considered immediate
grounds for being banned from the list. However,
legitimate commercial advertisements related to
fannish activity (such as advertisements for
book releases, meetings, etc.) are *not* considered
spam for such purposes.
