Quite so. One estimate suggested there may be around 6 quintillion ways 
to spell it, that humans could recognize.

Bayesian poisoning.

The spam filter program I was lead QA for doesn't use Bayesian filtering 
(although that can be a useful tool.) The spam pattern detection it uses 
includes rapidly identifying spam servers. High detection rate with a 
very low false positive rate.
