A friend of my mothers used to inflict toiletry giftpacks on myself and
my brother, usually the currently advertised aftershave. The only one I
recall was "Hai Karate", which was advertised as provoking pursuit by
beautiful women who kept doing rather amateur karate chops.
Now, I have an admiration for the athletic talents, amongst other
things, of the many Far Eastern actresses who appear in movies from Hong
Kong. But their pursuit is more discriminating, and more subtle. They
present an image of characters you could hold a conversation with, their
scripts being more than ape-like grunts and screeches by some woman
apparently incapable of manipulating a door-knob.
And, OK, they're nice to look at.
