Diana Wynne Jones apparently read them when she was yopunger, but an
autobiographical piece i found somewhere online indicates that she and
her accomplices had a less than cordial encounter with Ransome
himself...

It never ceases to amaze me the odd places small references to the S&A
books crop up - i remember mentioneoing (while talking about one of
her books online) that Elizabeth MNoon was obnviously one; i got a
rather startled response from her asking me how the heck i deduced it
from that book.

I reassured her that i was just mentioning it in passing; that i had,
in fact, picked up on the S&A reference she had *intentionally*
included ion an earlier book.

And i'm fairly sure there's a quick passing reference in on of
McDaniel's "U.N.C.L.E" books.
