RIP Wombat: Joan Eslinger, 1959-2008

Joan Eslinger passed away yesterday.

I really can't write an adequate account right now.  I met her through 
Champaign-Urbana fandom in Illinois and the General Technics crowd. 
Eventually she moved to Silicon Valley where she worked hacking Unix for a

couple of decades.  She was active on Usenet and other online forums as 
early as the mid-1980s.  Her address always included "Wombat;" in some 
places she wasn't known by any other name.

I'll miss her.  A lot.
