It's true that the biggest US chocolate maker is Hershey, and
Hershey is mostly crap.  However, there are lesser-known makers
such as Guittard or Scharffen Berger -- the latter has a web site
at www.scharffenberger.com that you might check out.

(And, actually, in recent years Hershey has come out with a line
of more gourmet-targeted dark chocolates...probably not coincidentally
some time after they acquired Scharffen Berger.  I got the chance
to taste some and found it surprisingly good.  Although I have to
admit that the "surprising" part was because I expected it to be crap.)
