Reminds me of a story associated with a project I worked on when I was
with the National Grid.  Somebody thought our transmission towers would
be good places to mount mobile phone aerials.  (To translate, by mobile
phone, I mean what Americans call cell phones.  Aerials, I guess would
be either antennas or antennae.  Transmission towers are called
electricity pylons by everyone outside the industry.)

For some reason, the phone companies wanted to know the post codes for
the towers.  (Possibly, this is because they normally mount their
aerials on buildings.)  We pointed out that many of our towers are in
the middle of nowhere and as people don't send them letters, the post
office hadn't assigned them post codes.  (We did have the Ordnance
Survey coordinates for every tower, though.)
