Not exact, but Theodore Roosevelt was fond of equating the two. His
letters
of the WW1 period  are full of remarks like "I should be as ashamed of my
sons if they ****rled war as I would be of my daughters is they ****rked
motherhood". When he heard of the slogan "I didn't raise my boy to be a
soldier" he re****tedly commented that "I didn't raise my girl to be a
mother" would make as much sense.


Mussolini is also alleged to have said that "War is to the male as child
bearing is to the female", but this may have been a misattribution, or he
may have been plagiarising TR.
