I've been reading Jerry Pournelle's web page; he seems to be
satisfied with the treatment he's getting at Kaiser for his
brain tumor.

I suspect it may be just variation in the doctor you get.
My long-time GP retired recently, and the new doctor I've got
doesn't seem satisfactorily proactive to me.  And that's
with the local medical center using Blue Cross PPO, not Kaiser.
