And people can argue about the advantage. When plastics were fairly new 
in an application--any application--people wondered how they would last. 
Some plastics do harden and become brittle as they age. But plastic 
water pipes have been around for a long time now. And, while I don't 
offhand know of a domestic environment where it might be significant, 
copper work-hardens
