You won't get that much for used pipe, of course... and scrap value is 
less. However, you would certainly be looked at suspiciously bringing in 
a large piece of used copper pipe to sell as scrap. Around here, scrap 
yards are required to get IDs for anyone selling copper scrap.

That's more likely PB pipe... the failure rate for it was high enough 
that it was removed from the market. (PB is/was grey, PVC is white, CPVC 
is cream colored) A catastrophic PVC failure is usually due to freezing, 
or external damage.
