Au contraire! My employer includes Good Friday as a holiday. I've never
found out why, other than "the policy says there will be ten paid holidays
and someone picked that day", but it does. (Although techinically I'm not
getting Good Friday off, because I chose to work that day and take a
different day off in exchange.)

The local Catholic university gives everyone Monday off. I expect that's
par for the course for Catholic universities, even in the US.
