Tempting to just cut off your post here & discuss synesthesia:) Such as 
why did they establish that the chef rat in Ratatouille was synesthesic, 
then not go anywhere with it?

It's sort of like when you hear your own voice recorded, and it sounds 
badly wrong, because your brain is paying the most attention to the 
difference between what you're used to, and what you're hearing in the 
recording.

Still, I should have been more clear. What ever ecky boe boe stuff 
that's in cream corn that's makes it different than fresh corn... that 
taste is what beets taste like, especially the pickled ones.
