It's possible that a person doesn't want others to know what he's 
reading.

Here's the bottom line -- it's my property until the garbage men 
pick it up, and I should be able to choose how to dispose of it. If 
I wanted to give it away, I'd put an ad on Craigslist or take it to 
the Salvation Army.
