Again, and I posted the San Antonio statutes on it, everywhere I've lived
the law has been as Sean stated.  Now, if you're saying it *should be*
that
anyone can carry it off, I don't much disagree with that.  It's just not
how
the law reads in most place.  My feeling is that the laws may have been
passed because of people rooting through trash and leaving a mess.

And if it's actually in reusable condition, why don't you call one of the
many agencies looking for such?  I don't know about where you're at, but I
get calls every month from a couple of charitable organizations looking
for
stuff.  Goodwill, Salvation Army, non-profit thrift stores.

We have a church here that has a ministry that collects furniture,
refurbishes if necessary, and provides it to people moving into low-income
housing.
