A coil of that size and shape makes a spectacularly poor antenna at
those wavelengths.  I'll agree that it's not an *infinitely* bad
antenna.  I'm sure that if I had rested it on top of the Arecibo dish
while running it, radio astronomers would have been unhappy, as it
would probably radiate enough to jam the extremely faint (millionth of
a millionth of a millionth of a watt) signals that they're listening
for.  But then so do human nerve cells.

I still have the coil.  I'm tempted to repeat the experiments, and ask
radio hams living less than a mile away to see if they can pick up
the resulting VLF signals, perhaps with the aid of digital signal
processing.  I'd bet that they cannot.

You might as well point out that no material is perfectly opaque to
visible light, and thus claim that my having my lights on at close to
midnight might disturb my upstairs neighbors by ****ning through my
ceiling and their floor.
