Well, I'm as likely to listen to Wagner as Feldman and I've never had
any complaints from my neighbours. I'm in a terraced house, so their
are common walls with my neighbours on both sides.
Conversely, I've had to complain to my neighbours on one side several
times. The house has been converted to student flats, so there is a
changeover of occupancy every year or so, and every couple of years
there's someone in there who decided to have an all night party with
loud music. A couple of times I've had to pad along the street in
pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers at three a.m. to complain.
Just after I moved in, there was a neighbour who liked practising the
electric bass guitar at three in the morning. After a few weeks, the
door bell rang. It was his house mates. They were going to complain
about the noise he made, and their complaint would have more force if
they could say that I was going to complain, too.
