I doubt it would take that long; with the current murder rate in the US
alone, there are about 15,000 murders a year in the US. That would be 600
years to reach 9 million. If we assume(*) that the US murder rate is the
world average, we reach that number in 30 years (given a very rough
estimage
of the world population as 6 billion and the US as 300 million.)
(* hardly a safe assumption, I grant.)
