At speech meets in the 70s, we often played 3D (4x4x4) tic-tac-toe on 
blackboards. I thought it should be called something different, like 
tic-toc-tac-toe. One of the most enjoyable games of it that I played was 
one where my opponent and I used different colors of ink and drew 
whatever symbol we felt like. My penultimate move even hinted that I was 
ready to drop the trap -- I used an icon of a small 3x3 grid with a win 
on the diagonal depicted.
