A lot of the older computer graphic arcade games got colour that way - 
for example, the old Battlezone tank game used a monochrome vector 
graphics display which had white graphics on the main screen, a green 
filter over the "radar" screen, and so forth. Or possibly the other way 
around, it's been a long time...
