For some years, US credit unions were restricted to their charter's
member****p qualifications and they couldn't use geographical ones --
e.g., they could be "IBM employees and their immediate family" but not
"living or working in Travis County".  That restriction must have been
lifted in the past few years, as I've started seeing geographical ones
again.

Also, do advertising, ignorance, or conservative risk-avoidance (I
only trust a Bank) have no effect on your model?
