Your perceptions are completely true as I see things here.

I can understand your frustration.  I think it's shared far
more widely than you observe as a newcomer.  I'm surprised
you don't seem to have noticed lately, we are getting huge
amounts of crapware and scatware ('scatological') posted
into Usenet that is totally off-topic and unwelcome.  I
personally suspect it is a disguised censor****p set against
people who aren't correctly evangelical in their personal
outlooks, or who might between them, come up with good
ideas vs the ****k wars and bush nazis that afflict us these
days.

I can't when guess when this newsgroup (and many others)
will return to 'normal' function.
