It's been said, as explanation, that America is big enough that they 
don't have to go to other countries. Sometimes I wish they wouldn't. Why 
invade a third-world country when you have New Orleans? Why trade with 
Cuba when you have Florida?

It is, after all. pretty easy to go off to some foreign land, where you 
can do all the things you already do on a Saturday night, for a whole 
week. And remember, the first rule of Alicante is that what happens in 
Alicante stays in Alicante.

At least, until your mum finds out you're pregnant.

But, with this involving a foreign country, rather than Blackpool, 
there's at least a chance for the average Brit holidaymaker to notice 
he's in a foreign country, even if only because of the different funny 
hats the policemen wear while they're kicking his ribs in.
