And what does that have to do with the South, where only a minority of
the people had any voice?  The people in charge wanted to secede, yes.
Were they a legitimate government?  Why?  Because the upper class were
in all states of the South?  All counties?  All towns?  Is it right to
aggregate at these middle levels, but neither at the level of the entire
nation, nor at the level of, say, individual dwellings, rooms, or even
single people?
