That is absurd.  if you are speaking of slaves they were about 1/3 the
population, and free blacks in the north mostly had no right to vote.
If speaking of women, that was true everywhere in the USA and AFAIK
everywhere in all democratic nations at that time.

If you mean poorer whites, that is just not so.  If anything the south
was more democratic than the north in that poor white votes counted
for more than that of the poor in the north.

Secession was very popular for the most part with most voters in the
south.  If anything white females tended to be more pro-secession than
men.

Yes some unionist areas existed, especially west Virginia and eastern
Tennessee.  So what?

Every state in the south that had a referendum on secession passed it
by a large margin.
